Icemaninlv Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 i see them on ebay for about 895 plus shipping or pick up it is either the a540 or a541 do a search. some guy from AZ sells them
lexushusker Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 is it legit ? what do u think istallation would be on that ?
SKperformance Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Look for a JDM importer in your area. Tons of 92-93 trannys you can get cheaper for about $400-600. Check your yellow pages.
xxxavier2k Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Anybody ever seriously though of a manual tranny upgrade. Is it worth the cost/trouble???
SKperformance Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 you can switch in a 5spd since they are fully available for that year already. but who wants to put a tranny clutch flywheel pedals cables ecu linkages shifter plate cover plus about 3 hours for basic install
Toysrme Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 E-153 swaps have been done a bunch. It's the way you want to go if you ever have any performance aspirations. Ratko did the most popular write-up.
xxxavier2k Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Well my tranny seems to be on it's way out so if the rebuild costs are about equal to the manual part costs then I think it's worth the upgrade.
Toysrme Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Whoops! My dumb !Removed! forgot the link. http://www.tt-cc.com/ratko/swap/ The '93 E-153 (v6 Camry/ES/Windom) got an upgraded synchro for 3rd gear. '97 E-153 (Solara) got all new synchros. Not really important, but just a tid-bit. IMHO, if you actually go through with the swap, when you buy your E-153, find a LSD from a Celica, and be the first to mix & match ES/Camry driveshafts to it to have an LSD.
