harippa Posted June 7, 2005 Share Posted June 7, 2005 Hello, I am going to order for the bushings very soon, possibly tomorrow. The mechanic (well he's the owner/manager.. doesnt do the work himself but been in this business for 15 years) I take my car to was unable to tell me how many hours of labor it's gonna take to for the bushings to put in. Do you know how many hours of labor it should be.. so I can tell him that, and he doesn't have a chance to over charge me. Does changing the bushing work really well? or is it better to get whole control arm (dont really have the money, just curious). i'll put another question which doesnt really belong here..my ac doesnt work from last summer. done the ac self diagnostics.. gives solar sensor error and pressure switch circuit error. who should i take it to, and what should i tell them to fix? btw, mine is 93 lexus, and i am in connecticut hartford area. thanks much. sharif Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jzz30 Posted June 7, 2005 Share Posted June 7, 2005 dont know about your ac but i took out and installed my new arm in about 2 hours on the ground per side and one side i took pics so i would have to guess maybe 2-3 hours per side with install of the bushings. Reading description from http://www.vftbushes.com/ seemed like this is the one i should get, but i have no idea how the process of ordering parts from overseas work. anyone have any experience? i found some from ebay (polyurethine) and also from the diazen link(also made from polyurethine). the 'ebay people' asking for $99 for a pair, which will fix ONE of the two front LCA. but the diazen website replied to my email saying, i need one set (for $99) which will fix the 'entire front' (their words). thanks agian. harippa Posted June 8, 2005 Share Posted June 8, 2005 thanks for the info. great help. question for you tmaxxtim pls... when i was reading thru the valmox website posted a few post up on this thread.. it said urethene metareal should be noisy, squeeky.. rubber is better and as intended by manufacturer.. so the valmos people re-ingenered the rubber technology and by volcanization and other stuff they made a even better rubber substance to make the bushings, which should last even longer than the oem bushings. what's your opinion about that? are your bushings squeeky, noisy? thanks. I intend buying 96 SC400 bushes (48654-24040 - $30.69/ 48655-24050 - $39.23) from irontoad.com and installing myself. (I'd get the wheels aligned by a specialist) 3 questions if you don't mind: are these going to fit? is it realistic of me to fit them myself? you did it yourself and took total 6 hours, right? jzz30 Posted June 12, 2005 Share Posted June 12, 2005 i just changed my arms but it is verry possible to do it yourself with the right tools. take a look at the tutorial section where i posted how to change the arm i have a list of tools. and to change the bushing you probably need a reciprocating saw to cut out the metal sleve in the arm bushing to finally get the bushing out.
