llexus05 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Was there a factory remote start option for the 2000 LS400? My new-to-me LS has remote start using the factory key fob buttons.
1990LS400 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I have never seen "remote start" on an options list for the 2000 LS. Here is a summary of what was available: http://www.lexusjax.com/shared/shared/cpo_...00/ls40000.html

I've never heard of such a thing, anywhere in any forum or in the literature. Believe it or not, when I push the "panic" button on the factory fob 2X just a second apart, my '00 starts up and locks all the doors. Then you unlock, insert the key and turn to "on" and drive away. True story.
LinuxFan Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Maybe the dealer might have some info or it might just be some clever installation the previous owner had done. Still, that is sweet as it allows you to do that, open the door, lock/unlock doors, etc. with one device. I like it.
moune Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I agree, it was probably installed by a previous owner. The remote start function can be combined with any factory remote. All that needs to be done is hook up relays and progam the remote. I have an aftermarker remote starter myself and I love it. Warm it up when it's cold and cool it down when it's hot without having to leave your house.
Unlisted Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 no its not. Lexus actually frowns upon remote start because it messes with the ignition and security system
SW03ES Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 You have an aftermarket system, theres an aftermarket company that installs remote starts that use the buttons already found on the standard remote.
