agc Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 All, I have not seen many 98-2000 LS400 in my area, a total of 1 black one at home depot about two weeks ago, but it was midnight and the car was driving away. I am going to look at two cars this weekend, both are 2000 with low miles the only difference is color. Can you guys give me your opinion on which color combination on a LS400 looks better. 1. 2000 LS400 Exterior: Millenium Silver Interior: Black 2. 2000 LS400 Exterior: Black Interior: Tan (Platinum Package) Which color looks better on a 2000 LS400, I am leaning toward the silver because I have both a black and silver car; the silver hides all the imperfections and even when it's dirty it doesn't look so bad, but the black car I have is a b---h to keep clean and you see all the impecfections. The only problem is not all cars look good in silver with a black interior. Thanks all, AGC
99lsguy Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 I would go for the Silver ext......black interior........ Awsome combo..........
1990LS400 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Silver is sure far easier to keep looking clean than black. (I had a silver car and a black car - each for about five years.) Since one LS is a Platinum, if you are not familiar with the Platinum series, consider looking at previous posts on this forum to see the differences between the three different Platinum packages: SE, SF, SG - significant differences in original prices and equipment.
SW03ES Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Silver, black, and white are the three best colors on the LS400. The Cashmere gold color looks good too, but its not my cup of tea. That said, Lexus black is especially hard to take care of if you don't have a buffer because it has no clearcoat. Because of that however its very easy to take care of WITH a buffer. I personally think silver is classic and timeless and always looks good, and the black interior is much sleeker and sharper than the tan.
agc Posted February 24, 2005 Author Posted February 24, 2005 Thanks all for your input, I currently have 2 black vehicles (one truck and one car) and a silver minivan. The thing with the black cars is it looks real good when clean, the only thing that I am thinking about is that I plan on using this car as a daily driver in NY/NJ area and black will definitely be hard to keep clean. I love washing my cars, but don't have much time lately, my wife and I are expecting our second child and our first is 20 months now. So time for washing the car is definitely a luxury. I will be trading in the black truck now so that would be great because the other one is a weekend type of car. So at this point I am leaning towards the silver one, the only thing I am thinking of is if the price, mileage and condition is the same maybe I should take the black one because it's a platinum (silver has premium and heated seats). But then I look at it and the only thing with the platinum that I see as different is the color of the wood, wheels, floor mats, blacked out L emblem and monotone paint. Is there something that I am missing. Also how much more was a platinum when new and how much more is it worth in the used car market
SW03ES Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Nope, thats the only differences between the Plat and the normal car. Another difference is the platinum cars aren't two toned (except for white). Honestly, get the silver one. Black looks great, but if I had it to do all over again I would have definately done silver.
1990LS400 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 I posted the differences between the three different Platinum Series versions in this old thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...232&hl=Platinum The original list prices of a Platinum Series could range from $55,969 for an "SE" with no other options to $64,500 for an "SG" (Nav version) that has all remaining options: air suspension, Lexus phone, trunk mat, wheel locks and chrome wheels. The Platinum chrome wheel option was not an official Lexus option but was widely available as a dealer supplied option at the same rediculously high list price ($1,700) as the "regular" chrome wheel option. Oddly enough a non-Platinum with Navigation and all other options was $751 more than a Platinum SG. Well optioned LS400's (Platinum or not) do not bring all that much more as a used car than basically equipped ones so you can get a lot for your money if you can find a loaded one.
silvermate Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Silver LS, Black leather........blacked out windows....Chrome LS wheels.....
