1991LS400 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 What's the name for the Toyota equivalent of the ES? I noticed from reading many other websites, such as, ClubLexus.com and this forum that apparently even the GS has different names. Correct? Does anyone know all of the equivalent Toyota names for the ES, GS, and the SC models? Just thought one of you guys here in the LS 400 forum would know.
casee Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Oldrer GS i guess 'cos I own one is twin to Toyota Carina E from 1992-1997 Carina was replaced by Avensis. (check link for picture) http://www.auto24.ee/kasutatud/auto_pildid...70.jpg&id=90414
1990LS400 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 ES = Windom GS = Aristo SC = Soarer LS = Celsior LX = Land Cruiser GX = also a "Land Cruiser" but I don't remember the name of the variation.
SW03ES Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 The LX isn't actually sold in Japan, the closest equivilent is the Land Cruiser Prado. The Lexus IS is sold in Japan as the Toyota Altezza. Other than that, Jims got it! Lexus is being introduced in Japan so pretty soon all the cars will have the same names as here. casee- The GS has never been connected to the Carina, the Avensis is a different sedan. The GS has always been sold in Japan as an Aristo. The picture you supplied of the Carina looks nothing like the GS lol, its a hatchback and sinificantly smaller than the GS. Here's some photos of the JDM Aristo you can select them by year: http://www.alljapanesecars.com/viewmd.php3...oyota&md=Aristo As you san see its identical to our GS.
1990LS400 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Duh, here is a more complete list. I suppose there may be markets where Toyota might call them something else. IS = Altezza ES = Windom GS = Aristo SC = Soarer LS = Celsior LX = Land Cruiser GX = Land Cruiser GX - here is a photo: http://www.dinside.no/php/art.php?id=85106
SW03ES Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Not that I'm aware of, its either those names or their Lexus alphanumerical model names.

SW03ES Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I believe its a different platform entirely. The JDM version of the GS is definately the Aristo, there's no doubt about that. The Carina/Avensis is a much smaller and cheaper car than the GS/Aristo.
GSsoldier Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 hey guys checking out that site casee posted ls 1993 has 2 mods whats the difference TOYOTA CELSIOR UCF11 and TOYOTA CELSIOR UCF10 cant tell the difference at all ? is it body or somethign else?

We had the Carina E, and now get the Avensis over in the UK - and they are completely different cars
SW03ES Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Nope, we don't get the Avensis and we didn't get the Carina.
dfkd Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Actually, IS = Altezza ES = Windom GS = Aristo SC = Soarer LS = Celsior LX = Land Cruiser CYGNUS GX = As far as i've seen from the toyota japan website, the GX seems to be exclusive to Lexus
