R1MAN
Hello every body I'm new here and have some questions. What is the best wax? j/k I could find everything possibly I need for detailing here, but there are some thing that I couldn't figure it out, and that is you guys talk about Meguiar's by number like #1, I found a lot of tips in that post "Pinned: What Should I Do First?" I check Meguiar's web site and they didn't list them by number, so could you please let me know what they mean? another thing is about claying, do I have to clay in one strike or I can go back and forth? How the cutting pad works? I've never heard or seen anybody works with it, so its very new to me. I have a Craftsman buffer polisher, that I've got it years ago and never even used it, I know you guys recommend PC, but I have this one right now , and that'd be nice if I could use it at leat for once :D thanks
SW03ES
Naa the craftsman buffer isn't going to have enough power to do anything but apply waxes. As for the cutting pad, I'm not quite sure what your question is about that... For purchasing the products I wouldn't buy them from Meguiars, you can find all the products listed there through www.lexuscarcare.com or www.properautocare.com

This buffer I have, says on it "3100 RPM no-load-speed" is it any good? thanks a lot for your time.
SW03ES
Yeah the bottles say the number right on the front of them. Thing is you won't be able to find the pro line series like DACP in a store like PepBoys, you'll probably have to order it online. Megs does it by part number which is usually the number of the product followed by two 0's. The cutting pad is for polishing out swirls by machine. That buffer sounds like a rotary buffer, if it is then you don't want to use it. A rotary is a very effective tool but its not for the novice. You can perminantly damage the paint with that if you aren't skilled in its use. I really think a PC is a worthwhile investment if you're planning on doing swirl removal, its more effective then by hand but its much safer than a rotary. R1MAN
Thanks a lot, I'll have to get a PC then.
R1MAN
I was searching and came cross this http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=1550&hl=buffer so it got me thinking that what kind of buffer do I have? here is a picture of it, and wodering that just by looking at it you could tell its rotary or not, I turn it on and it shaks a lot. With clean terry pads, that's fine to use to apply and remove wax.

silvermate
yeah that thing isn't gonna do anything for swirls or paint correction...... i doubt it really cost much either, so i wouldn't worry bout getting rid of it. but don't get me wrong, you can still use that as a waxer, i mean it will still save u a lot of time applying waxes, it just doesn't have the power to correct paint..... SW03ES
Oh yeah, thats just a orbital buffer. Perfectly safe for applying and removing waxes but its not going to have enough oomph to do any kind of polishing or swirl removal.

Air Force Rascal
I have found after a good paint job..to use Meguires # 3 with a good 1700 rpm machine (old Milwaukee) or the Porter Cable , then follow up with #5 machine then finish up with Meguires #7 by hand. Then after that if you want to use a wax..then use NXT and in-between when your in a hurry Zaino Brothers detail spray. Just a safety tip: ONLY use the New Foam Pads with your machine, don't want to be burning through the paint. The old wool pads are good but you hit an edge or don't keep moving you'll ruin a great paint job real fast.
Geo
And remember you have to use #1-98 in the right order or else you ruin the finish of the car. George
