mspin24 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Hi Club, What do you think about changing out the CV Joints on 1996 ES300? Is this something I should leave to the experts? Let me know your thoughts. Marc
lexus400 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 If you're handy, I would do it. It's a pretty straight forward job. Do you have an impact gun ? Basically, you're removing the cotter pin from the axle shaft, removing the nut (on REAL tight and a gun will take it off, otherwise a breaker bar). On the other end just six hex bolts to remove... kcpth Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 i've never done the job myself... i brought it to a mechanic to do it... n i looked at him installing it... but it does look pretty straight forward. My only concern is... if you can jack the car up reasonably high so you can get under it and work on it... otherwise... it looks to be a pain in the butt. Good luck... and if you do plan to do it yourself and if you want to... take some pictures and post it as a tutorial for others in case they want to do it themselves... it would definitely help all of us including me in the future in case if it goes bad again... hahahaha. Take care
