Jimbo1285 Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I was think about changing my rear diff. gear oil. Should i go back to dealer to buy oil or go with redline oil. what grade and make qt. will it take for the diff.
Thienn Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Any Gear Oil would be fined; as long as you get it change regularly! Just make sure you get the right grade. My 1996 SC400 takes 1.43 US quart of Hypoid Gear Oil, API GL-5, SAE 80W or 80W-90 (because I live in the Northeast and the temperature gets below Zero in the winter). I just replaced mine and I bought Valvoline Synthetic for about $5 a quart! You could get Amsoil or Redline online also but I think any good brand gear oil should be OK. Buy the way, get those little oil pump! It makes thing so much easier
BMAN1113 Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Of course, as everyone could guess by now, I put Amzoil in mine. It's good "chit" man. lol
