New Key Cylinder To Match Orig Key

Hi all,

Newbie, great informative forum!

1998 GS400

Recently, my car was broken into and they completely destroyed my key cylinder. When I went to the dealer to ask for a replacement, they said that they could only order a new Key cylinder with a new key. They apparently can't order a specific Key cylinder with VIN that would fit my original key. Is there anyway that I could replace my key cylinder and still use my original key?

Order the key/cylinder set and have a locksmith rekey the cylinder to the old key

Hi All,

For all who ever needed to change out their locks, the answer is yes!

As Mehullica said, you can get a locksmith who has the 1998 year kit and up to rekey it for you!
