Both have bad resales actually due to a large number of defects from the american ML's, If you do get one,Stay the hell away from any vin that starts with 4jgab54e1 it is the american ones. It is very rare to get a German one here. If buying used do not buy any of them before 03 drive and 01 and an 03 worlds of difference. the 500 drive much better an self assured but the gas milage is awful. You realise this is probably not the best forum to ask this question .

SKperformance Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 Agreed the X5 is fast ( 4.4) comfortable and looks nice But it handles like a truck as in slow to respond and top heavy feeling. The RX feels like a car jsut higher and much more easier to control. You have to set boundaries on what you are looking for to ask for advice.
