Nole65SG Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 What is the proper coolant for a 92SC300? Thanks!
Nole65SG Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 Appears from previous threads, its the Toyota Red Long Life.
jzz30 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 didnt you hear what the italians said on the commercial?
monarch Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Every pre-2004 Lexus came from the factory filled with a 50/50 mix of Toyota Red Long Life Coolant and distilled water. Using factory original parts, fluids, lubes and filters is the least risky, but most boring way to maintain your Lexus.
Nole65SG Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 Thanks. Must agree. I had my radiator and thermostat changed and the shop put in a new thermostat from the parts supplier along with Dex Cool. Now I have a slight ping upon acceleration. Never had the sound before. Probably a different thermostat than designed for the car.
RedRocket Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Having just done my 99 SC400. Use your choice of coolant, with DISTILLED water (I settled on the new Prestone "mix with anything) stuff.. Find the vent plugs (mine has two) to make sure you can drain the entire system and the radiator petcock. Get the capacity from manual/drealer/anywhere mine was 11.5 Us qt and get a antifreeze checker, along with somewhere to PROPERLY dispose of the old stuff and the flush water.
monarch Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 get a antifreeze checker, along with somewhere to PROPERLY dispose of the old stuff and the flush water. In the 70's and 80's the jugs of Prestone antifreeze recommend dumping the used coolant down the toilet. So that's what I still do today.
southernsc300 Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 i suggest you spend a few extra $$ and get royal purple's Purple Ice.
