lxsguy
I am considering buying a 2004 LS430 that currently has 17 inch wheels but I like the 18 inch sport wheels better. My dealer has offered to install 18 inch wheels on the car and says that there will not be any effect on the calibration of the car's electronics because the exterior of the tire remains the same size. Is it true that the car won't need to have the electronics, etc. recalibrated for the 18 inch wheels?
Matthew_McNally
as long as the overall diameter of the wheel remains the same - you should be OK. There is a Tyre convertor on the toyo website you may find useful ;)
Lexusfreak
Are they factory 18's made by Lexus?
SKperformance
The ride is the only difference is they match the tires sizes in overall diameter as Matt mentioned. Gas milage can decrease slightly for the increased rolling mass. Much better cornering feel from the steeringwheel. Much better looking IMO than a smaller rim and a bigger tire sidwall. SW03ES
From what I've heard actually the 18s don't seem to make that big a difference on the ride of the LS vs the 17s. My dad has an 04 with 17s and I agree the 18s look much nicer.
DeadAim
the shorter the sidewall, the less flex, the siffer the ride. 18s do look better.
SW03ES
Sure, but I've heard the tradeoff isn't as noticable on the LS as one would think.
lxsguy
Thanks for the input. In answer to Lexus Freak's question, the replacement wheel will be a Lexus factory 18" wheel.
