Red Tail Lights

I have 95 es300, and I wanted to red out my taillights. I read and got replies that I should just paint them, but I also read that you could buy some time of red transparent film or red tint that you could just stick over the amber portions. Would anyone recommend any specific type of red film or tint and if its a good idea to do them or not? any help would be greatly appreciated.

i found this film on the 3M site, tho not sure if it would work.
