burfc1995 Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 I have a 1993 ES 300. When I start my car, I put my foot on the brake and then push in the button on the side of my shifter. It doesn't let me push it in. It is locked and even though I am pressing the brake pad and have tried numerous times, it still won't work. The only way to make it go into gear is to take off the small black oblong cap that is on the upper right hand of my shifter plate. Under this cap there is white plastic. If you push down on this plastic with a key or pen then the shifter works. Does anyone know what the cause or solution to this problem is. My transmission is fine and the car runs like a top. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! JP
SKperformance Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 either the switch on the brake pedal is not workgin ,check your taillights to make sure they work or the shifter lock under the panel is sticky from something drying on it and needs to be cleaned
brianpavlovic Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Check your ABS sensor FUSE. It should be inside the car on the driver's side, bottom left. I think its the fuse #1. Your manual will tell you. If this fuse is missing, then the car will not shift out of P! -Brian
