lexulife Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 I have a 1994 Lexus Ls400, When pressing on the gas pedal the car accelerates ok through the first two gears, and then once you get up to about 30 miles per hour, and press the gas pedal to gain speed, the enginge bogs down, and will not pick up speed. The engine light come on. When I release pressure off the paddle the engine light goes off, and then the car will accellerate slowy to a higher spead. As long as I don't give the engine a lot of gas, it doesn't bog down. If I give the car lots pedal it will bog down and the engine light comes on. The car never cuts off, idles fine, starts fine. The last time we put gas in the car we put 89 octaine. Any suggestion on what the problem could be.
chips229 Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Hi,it could be a number of things, sounds to me like the engines starved of fuel, ive just been reading another post about the fuel filter, that could be a good place to start, could be a vaccum in the fuel tank starving it from fuel, the filler fuel cap on all cars have a small breather hole to allow air to fill the tank as its being sucked from the tank, that could be blocked...could also be the throttle sensor..
steviej Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 have a mechanic ride with you with a scan tool hooked up. Get the engine light to come on and find out what is the problem or sensor tripping the light. Start from there. Find out if it is spark, fuel, air, coolant or tranny related. steviej
SKperformance Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 either a bad rotors and cap , buy that and replace first as it is cheap and good maintance anyway then get the code checked which probably should be done first it might be the thrttle position sensor
