Curb Rash On A Chrome Rim

If you get a 3-4 inch rash from the curb on a chrome rim, what do you do?

I was told to put a good layer of wax on the area to at least help the water shed off this area.

It's not worth sending the wheel out for rechroming, so that is not an option.

wax wont do anything

if it is going to peel it will , winter is the major problem

summer is fine

it would be more effective to use some clearcoat and a q tip

they are summer rims and the clearcoat was what i was thinking.
