lovlex Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 on my 92 SC400, is the plastic cover under the engine necessary? it makes it hard to change all. what's the purpose of it? thanks.
dcfish Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 It helps with protecting the engine bay from road debris , airflow factors , overall protection ,
jeremyp Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I've heard of people taking them off and not having any problems, but I wouldn't take it off. It was put there for a reason.
bean_8044 Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I hate to admit it, but this car was designed fairly well from the factory. The spoiler actually reduces drag and the front spoiler improves high speed handling. I imagine that the engine cover improves the airflow under the car while directing some into the radiator. You probably wont notice it if you took it off, but take off both spoilers and the cover and you can see the difference
