  1. Why do you feel you would need one? Baby steps. That thing is for the big dogs. But it could be made to work. It is a standalone replacement ECU that is used mainly on all out racecars. I've seen them used for $1,500 US. You want power? Go with a single turbo upgrade - T51R or T04R, front mount intercooler, torque converter, and fuel system upgrade. If that is not enough - up to 700hp - then good luck. You will need some type of fuel management but AEM is not necessary. A boost controller, boost dependent injector controller, and timing controller should cover the bases cheaper. You'll need a bigger fuel pump, fuel rail, injectors, regulator, and ignition system (coil, amplifier, wires/cap, colder plugs). The AEM will require a custom harness and software maps to be created, downloaded and tweaked. Hard stuff for the even moderately experienced people. I can't imagine trying. Good luck! Keep us posted.
  2. There are a lot of companies that do this. Weapon R has one as well as SRT - both have decent reviews. torque converter See the faq also for more links. I believe sound performance in Chicago can help also. ECU's: weapon-r WR-ECU Search lexus upgrade ecu's on google. Amazing. UCF3 has a good one too. If you live in a emissions state, just make sure it will pass smog checks or whatever. Good thing I don't need to worry about it.
  3. I'd upgrade my suspension and brakes after the intake and exhaust. Maybe even a pair of 5pt harnesses to keep you and your passenger alive, but that's just me.
  4. A good SC 400 ECU Upgrade? I haven't heard about that anywhere before, and thought I read everything. Can you add a couple more personal notes about it and/or where we might read more? Added with a TC, Intake and Exhaust, the ECU upgrade may be the ideal combination for my SC 400.
  5. 92 Es300 5 speed here. Mods include (too many to list), full suspension upgrade, cool headlight mod, 75 shot of nitrous and thats about all i feel like listing right now lol. Random movies of my car from about 2 years go...(random races and burnouts) http://home.cinci.rr.com/smcelligott/1.mov http://home.cinci.rr.com/smcelligott/2.qt http://home.cinci.rr.com/smcelligott/3.mov http://home.cinci.rr.com/smcelligott/4.mov
  6. This is an excellent tutorial on a low cost alternative GPS system, using a Pocket PC. It has been reproduced here with th full permission of the author Amit Tailor, who originally posted this article in the UK forum. Got an IS200 without GPS? Here’s a way of adding a navigation system for a fraction of the cost using a Pocket PC and a simple installation that hides all the cables. The problem with most Pocket PC GPS navigation systems is the power cable and GPS cable. They really do look untidy. The guide below will illustrate a way of fitting a Pocket PC cradle to the dash taking power from the existing cigarette lighter socket hiding all cables. Components used: Fujitsu Loox Pocket PC PDA £350-£400 (www.dabs.com) Haicom GPS for Loox £80 (www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk) Compact flash storage £35 for 128Mb (www.scan.co.uk) Navigation software £100-£200 (www.tomtom.com) Cigarette lighter socket 99p (www.maplin.co.uk) Wire for cigarette light socket 35p (www.maplin.co.uk) Tools used: * Screwdrivers * Soldering iron * Drill Time: Approx 2 hours in total. The complete system costs approx £500-£600, however this also includes a PDA and possibly a MP3 player Step 1. Remove air vent dash panel. There are a number of different ways to remove this please see this thread for full details. After removing the air vent dash panel I had to remove the felt panel from the dash using a screwdriver. Step 2. Remove the heated switch panel which on the lower part of the console. This is very easy to remove. Simply put your hand under the switch console, get a really form grip and pull toward you. Step 3. Remove the gear stick console - these simply lift out and disconnect the cigarette lighter and ashtray light cables. Step 4. Connect the wire to the cigarette socket and feed the other end for the power from the top dash to the gear stick console. Solder/connect the power wire to the existing cigarette wire connection Step 5 Reconnect the gear stick console cables and re-fit the console. Step 6 Fitting the PDA cradle to the felt dash. Drill a hole large enough got the GPS cable through the felt dash and air vent console. I had to perform some modification to the PDA holder to hide connectors under the dash rather than the back of the holder. Feed the power cable for the GPS through the dash and connect the power. Attach the PDA to the dash. I used two screws, but I guess you could use anything sturdy. I placed the GPS antenna just behind the PDA cradle. Finally refit the air vent console.
  7. Stage 3 kits feature: - SRT unique silent SD-2 supercharger - 8 PSI max boost - High efficiency performance surge valve - Level 1 High Flow Intercooler - SRT custom designed and fabricated 6061 T6 aluminum mounting plate(s) - SRT custom designed and fabricated electronic fuel management ECU - SRT custom specs high flow fuel injectors - SRT custom specs high flow intank fuel pump - SRT custom specs tranny valve body recalibration upgrade - Includes all necessary hardware for a bolt on installation. Stage 3 kits are priced starting @ $8,750.00 My 2002 is300 is an e-shift.. i do regret that.. =/. I talked to the guy over the phone. He said as of now my is300 gets 215 crank hp and 165-170 wheel hp. With the stage 3: 310 crank hp and 265-275 wheel hp... adding 100hp roughly. Does anyone have any knowledge of the SRT s/c/thoughts? thx Oh btw im new here. Hello =).
  8. The reason why they look dull is because they're Halogen bulbs.. Upgrade the lights for yer Wife so she can see at night.. Go with some Philips HID's... That'll brighten it up the road for her.. I have upgraded my headlights to Philips 6000K HID's and you won't hear a complaint out of me...
  9. Here's everything you get with the Stage 4 Turbo from SRT... · Stainless Steel T304, tig welded, thick wall, tube-style turbo manifold · Turbonetics® T62-1 turbo unit made to SRT specifications · Turbonetics® Turbo heat shield · Turbonetics® Racegate in closed looped form · Blitz Blow Off Valve · (6) RC Engineering 440cc fuel injectors · SRT air/fuel ECU · SRT wastegate pressure regulator · Complete mandrel bent hard pipes (turbo-to-throttle body) · Mandrel bent intake hard pipe (includes cold air intake pipe as standard equipment) · Stainless steel braided turbo oil supply line · Stainless steel braided turbo oil return line · Silicone hose connectors · Silicone vacuum hoses · Front mount Spearco core intercooler w/SRT endcaps · Hard pipes to and from the Intercooler · Intank 255lph fuel pump · Fuel return line with variable rate fuel pressure riser · MLS 1.4mm Head Gasket · Auto Tranny Valve Body Upgrade · ARP Head Studs · HKS Adjustable Exhaust Cam Gear · SRT triple clutch racing Torque Converter · Individual engine oil cooler. That about sums it up I think.. I think I'll have no problem putting out almost 500 at the rear wheels for a while till a full blown race tranny gets installed.... Hey, have you had a chance to run by the Dyno place yet????
  10. Are you going to need to upgrade any of the engine internals to handle that kind of boost? I would think the V6 (or even the V8 for that matter) would have a hard time handling 500hp!
  11. First off when putting in a Intake it is essential to upgrade the ECU so you can have the right air/fuel mix.... But lucky us in the States we don't have much of a selection.. Now you can go that route, I think you were talking about a SRT intake with "race" ECU... IMO way too expensive for such a minimal gain... And trust me your not getting +20hp at the rear wheels with that... Then you can go the way I went, I have a Weapon-R intake/CAB with a Apexi S-AFC.. Or Injen makes a decent Intake too... As for the gains you'll only really see them mid to high rpms... Here are some pics of my Intake with custom CAB... At night there's 2 red neons that light the box up.. It's pretty cool.... If you want to see pics of it I have no problem posting them up...
  12. Does anyone know how to override the DVD player (in the onscreen navigation system) to allow playing (onscreen) DVDs while driving? I have heard of several mechanics who work for Lexus dealerships performing the mod and they say it is easy - just have to know what wire. Anyway, if anyone know, please post it. Thanks!!!!
  13. I know the K&N filter is available. I saw it on an SC400, whose engine is the same as the LS400. No exhaust won't add extra horsepower to the stock engine because they're isn't a need for it yet. I would add it if you are willing to get the supercharger or a turbo like this guy at the link below. Unfortunately, his car is illegal because he lacks a catback. He's using a Magnaflow without the catback, but his exhaust sounds very deep throuty. It might not be the sound you're looking for. http://www.lextreme.com/Video.htm I don't think you'll find any bolt-ons because Toyota markets this car as a luxury car, and the ones from japan won't do us any good. You will most likely have to customize the exhaust with a barrel or chamber design. Since my car has 172000 miles on the ODi, my biggest upgrade will happen when the engine is ready to be changed, and I'm hoping to get a 4.3 from the GS430, add a turbo or supercharger, and change the exhaust and chip to support the upgrades. Since you have a stang, and I'm not sure whether you're interested in getting performance parts for it, I would highly recommend finding out technical specs on what kind of catback they are using to work with turbos or superchargers. This way, we might be able to find a manufacturer of catback exhausts who are willing to work on a catback for our cars. I hope this helps to some degree.

  15. Supra wheels bolt right up - the TT wheels offset and size are sweet looking on the car. The GS 17" wheels bolt right up. I would expect the IS wheels bolt up also, but have not seen it. Also, FD rx-7 wheels will bolt right up too. But I would save for some nice 3 piece hre's in size 18" with 9.5 width up front and 10.5 fatty's in the rear and +45 offset for that big brake upgrade. Do what you want, there are lots of options. Welcome to the club.
  16. I agree with mat... We do have plans for a dedicated forums for Australia/New zealand. At the moment we are upgrading all of our services to cope with the demand on our Euro site. As soon as we upgrade and move all our forums, sync them all .. then I shall be creating a new set of forums. It would be hard for us to measure the response unless we try it.
  17. 8O YEAH THAT'S GREAT. THAT IS WHY I AM FOCUS WHO GOT THE OLD GENERATION SUPRA, NON TURBO SUPRA, LEXUS GS300, OR SC300 WHICH GOT THE HIGH MILLEGE AND WANT TO HAVE A UPGRADE OR A VERY LOW JUST LIKE A NEW ENGINE. TO START AGAIN
  18. I put the color LCD screens in the head rests and I put one 6" on the dash board where the NAVIGATIon screen would of been, and I connected the PS2 in the glove comp.
  19. SRT is a vvt-i motor turbo upgrade. That means '98+.
  20. hi, im brand new to this club, just joined two seconds ago. anyway, im picking up two headrests with tv's in them from the same SAVV company. by the way i have a 2002 black on black rx300 with navigation and chrome rims, :D so as i was saying, yes they do make them for the rx, but also HAWAIIAN.... can u give me the name of that dealer, bc i bought mine off a friend and he doesnt have the end cable to give me, (8pin to rca) so i have to order that piece. also what did u mean by they almost match perfectly. whats different? also if u dont mind me asking, how much did u pay for them, i jsut wanna make sure im not getting ripped off, thanks
  21. Get a torque converter, ecu upgrade, open the intake and put a custom exhaust on it. A shot of nitrous oxide or save up for a future turbo, s/c project. Wald makes a nice body kit as well as AutoCouture, Bomex, ABflug, Phoenix, VIS, Do-luck, etc. Good luck
  22. Basic IS wheel size guide Here are some basic wheel tyre combinations that can fit, if you have any more post them below. PCD = 114.3mm Offset = 45mm Standard Rim f/r = 17"x7" Standard Tyre f/r = 215/45-17 (A -40mm drop is possible with this combination) 18" upgrade f/r =18"x7 1/2" 18" upgrade f/r =225/40/18 18" upgrade f/r =18"x8" 18" upgrade f/r =225/40/18 18" upgrade r =18"x8.5" 18" upgrade r =255/35-18 (A -30mm drop is possible with these combinations, however minor arch rolling is needed with the 255/35 combination) 19" upgrade f/r =19"x8" 19" upgrade f/r = 235/35-19 (A -25mm drop is possible with these combinations) With 19's don't run any rim bigger than 8" on the front as it will hit the strut.19's will rub on the front inner arch at full lock, but this can be solved by cutting or bending away some of the plastic trim.

  24. Hi just joined. :D Like xsuperjoex suggested, the Supra TT is the least expensive way to get larger brakes. I am not familiar with the Corsicas but make sure it can handle a big brake upgrade though. Since the calipers are larger, you just need to make sure there is enough room. This is true with most big brake upgrades. Else, you can go to better brake pads. EBC green pads seems to work well with minimal brake dust and at an affordable price. Good luck.
  25. Just got a new ES300 with Mark Levinson. After 3 weeks of listening to it, here are my thoughts: The overall sound is smooth and powerful, but is lacking something. I think the sound system is filtering out too much of the high end. It doesn't really have that bite that it should. The Eq. that's included on the Nav System screen is a joke. You're only given control over three components of the sound: Bass, Treble, and Mid. I figured for this kind of money, they would give you a full Eq., with some kind of realtime feedback, like the Eq. in WinAmp works. As far as speaker placement goes, I'm mostly satisfied. However, there's one troublesome speaker in the car....on the driver's side, about seat level. When I drive, my left leg seems to get in the way of this speaker. It definitely blocks the sound. If I extend my leg (under the dashboard) it gets out of the way enough to let the speaker work correctly. All in all, I would have to say that the Levinson system is not at all worth the money. The stock stereo sounds just as good to me....almost better, since it's a lot less expensive. Save your bucks and use the money to upgrade later. -Sonny Q. Austin, TX
