How can I increase the volume of the beep that sounds when locking or unlocking the car?

You need a Gen 1/2 DVD for a 2002 SC430. iom

RTM (read the manual)! On p269 of my 2003 Owner's Manual it says: Closing the quarter windows 1. Turn the ignition switch on. 2. Turn the trunk lid opener main switch (in the glove box) from the operative position to the inoperative position (in the canceled position) 3. Push the "OPEN/CLOSE" switch on the "OPEN" side twice slowly, within 10 seconds after Step 2. 4. Hold down the same switch on the "CLOSE" side once within 10 seconds after Step 3. The quarter windows will close.

With the top up (so the trunk is clear) raise the trunk lid. You should see the navigation device about half way back on the right side of the trunk. Remove the plastic cover by gently prying it off from the top. This will reveal the dvd player. On the left side of the slot you'll see a small sliding cover over the eject button. Slide it to the right and press the button to eject the dvd. You just slide the new dvd into the slot and it will self-load. Be sure to slide the cover back to the left or the disk won't read. Replace the plastic cover after the disk loads. You have to have the ignition key in the ACC position for this to work. iom

Once you get the nav. screen clean, try using your fingerNAIL instead of your fingerTIP to touch the OKAY button. iom :)

Does anyone know how to replace the bulb in the passenger side map (personal) light? What size bulb is required? I have a 2003, but I would guess they're all alike. Thanks in advance. iom

Have you tried ejecting the disk, then re-inserting it? This sometimes helps. iom

The latest version of the GPS DVD is Rel 09.1. You will need the Gen 2/3 version for your car. I have one in my 2003 and it works fine. iom

I have a Motorola Bluetooth device for my iPhone and it works perfectly in my 2003. I use a cassette adapter and play the iPhone's music using the Tape selector. I tried one of those devices that convert the iPhone signal to an FM frequency you set your radio to, but found it was more trouble than it was worth because the FM signal was interfered with by some radio stations in the area. The inexpensive cassette adapter (about $5.00) was the best solution for me. If your radio has an AUX input then get the adapter cable and use that. iom

I got the disk and installed it with no problems. Seems to work perfectly. iom :) I just upgraded to the Ver 9.1 dvd. If you want to buy the 8.1 dvd, drop me a line. It'll be $25.00 - just what I paid for it. iomsc430@gmail.com. :)

Chuck: If you're embarrassed to visit your dealer why not just go to ANOTHER dealer and ask them to check your computer and reset the error code. iom

I couldn't find a replacement for the OEM mirror, so I got a stick-on digital compass for my windshield that even has a night light! Problem solved. iom :D

There are two studs mounted inside the trunk near the taillights (one on each side). The cargo net just hooks over them. iom

I got a reply from a guy on Craigslist who will sell me a v8.1 disk (copy) for a Gen 2/3 system for $25!!! Here's his email: "$25 for the backup disc on DVD+R DL. i tested it on my 2004 gs430, i did not have chance to test on 2003 sc430 so i can not warranty it will work well. however, my friend had 2002 sc430 and it works after few eject and reinsert the disc." When I asked if he took PayPal, he sent me this: "I am only have backup of the disc on DVD+r dl for now. I sold all the oem disc. It cost only $25 mailed to you. My car is 2004 gs430. The disc tested on my car fine without any read error issues. I can not warranty 100% if it work on model yr 2003 until you Tri it out and find out yourselves. Can your car read a DVD+R DL disc?" Has anyone replaced the interior rear view self-dimming mirror with one that has a built-in compass display? Please tell me where you got it and how it was installed. BTW the dealer quoted me $1200 for a new one!!!!!! I have a 2003 SC430 with 65K miles and would like a mirror with a compass in place of the OEM mirror but not at that price!
