  1. lansal15 I don't know, I had to replace my head unit because I was messing around trying to splice into the cd changer wires for an iPod input. Fried it and now I have a sony stereo.
  2. I've got the stock one from my 93 I'd sell for cheep. I just took it out and replaced with a 12" kicker. How much do you want to pay? -- Jason
  3. Thanks - there a couple of ways to get the cable back to the trunk. Under the carpet or through/under the door trim pieces. Then take out the back seat and there are two covers that you can take out that lead to the trunk just over the gas tank.
  4. I also cut the boot in two places to feed through it so I could bolt the boot back on. After the boot was bolted back on I used some rubber marine calk to seal the hole in the boot where the wire comes through.
  5. I put a subwoofer in my trunk this week end and found a good place to wire the power through the firewall without drilling a hole. There's a rubber boot on the passenger (USA) side of the engine compartment that feeds most of the engine sensor wires through the firewall to the ECM under the glove box. I unbolted the rubber boot (10 MM deep socket) and took the glove box out. I feed the wire, taped to a straitened out coat hanger through from the glove box side out to the engine compartment.
  6. Thanks Lexls - thats a great website you're running. Good tutorials.
  7. Well, clarions fit guide that I mentioned in the post above is wrong. I purchased the speakers they suggested and they are way too big. 91ls400 is right 4" speakers fit.
  8. Although I think I'll take the door panels off and measure because on the Clarion web site they have a fit guide and they say that the rear speakers are 6 1/2" and the front are 5 1/4". Anyone know the size for sure? http://www.clarion.com/usa/fitguide/
  9. They're 4" but apparently aftermarket speakers don't fit perfectly. I'm about to do the same thing. Do you know what kind you're getting? Here is a site that shows how to replace them. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremoval...S400FDrPnlR.htm
  10. I changed my plug wires and it helped the hesitation i was experiencing but didn't stop it. Now, I've changed from 91 octane to 93 octane gas and the hesitation is completely gone. I have a hard time believing it was the gas but it seems to be.
  11. Hey LinuxFan - I've only owned mine for 2 months now, but it's really pretty solid. One thing I really like about it is that it still has everything in the toolbox. The towel, flashlight and battery's for it are there and have never been removed from the shrink wrap. It also came with a full set of snow tires on real lexus rims. It came from an elderly man in Florida. I plan on making it mint by the time I'm done with it though. How do you like Southfield? My wife is interviewing for a job in Southfield right now so we may be moving to that side of the state.
  12. Thanks 93LSOwner. Lextasy.com has them for $35. Here is a link for the chrome, they have gold as well. http://www.lextasy.com/chrome_lexus_emblems_1349_prd1.htm
  13. Ah, thanks - where did you get your LS 400 badge?
  14. I have a 1993 LS400 but nowhere on the car does it say LS400. Does anyone know why some LS400's have no name plate? Do I have the lowest, base model? Was the name plate optional?
  15. I have a 93 LS 400 and the lighter outlets are normal size. I often plug in my iPod, cell phone and a portable DVD player. They fit in the front and the back outlets.
  16. The AC smelled in my 93 LS 400 as well. I removed the cabin air filters and cleaned the lid that holds them in place, which was moldy, and cleaned the compartment they sit in which also had some mold. I used a compressor to clean the filters and and sprayed everything with some lysol. The lid, inside the filter compartment and the filters themselves. I sprayed the filters and let them dry 3 times. I did this several weeks ago and the smell is totally gone. I'm sure this wont work for everyone but it definitely worked for me.
  17. I bought the repair manuals vol 1&2 off ebay. It took 14 days to get them but they've been worth owning. I don't think I could do as much without them. I wish would have spent less though.
  18. This is interesting. My car does something like this at that speed too. I had been thinking it had something to do with my EGR system. I'm going to test the Throttle Position Sensor and see what happens. I'll let you know what happens.
  19. I have a 93 LS400 and I've noticed this but I think mine is a faulty EGR system. I have it going in to get tests done soon. I'll let you know what happens.
  20. I have a 93 LS400 and mine is in the trunk on the right hand side but, you do have to take off the back carpet panel, four screws on top and three on the bottom. I have the same problem by the way but I was told my problem was my head unit. Here is a link to a guy that will fix it for a pretty good price. http://carstereohelp.com/lexus.htm He also has removal instructions here. http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusLS400str.htm Good luck.
  21. Anyone know if the EGR valve is in the same place on a 93 LS400? "to the left and up from the oil cap"
