  1. thanks for excellent write up! my sub is still ok but i may want to upgrade at some point.
  2. did you use that JBL-1 harness or hard wired whole thing?
  3. get OBD II --> USB reader from eBay and run diagnostics on your sensors, A/F mix etc. Its only 25$ and very useful in the long run anyway. here is my first try with the OBD software and USB reader: link
  4. ... so whats the problem? just the dash light is on..? do the lights work fine?
  5. what i dont understand is if i have a vacuum leak, why then the CEL light turns off for several weeks then comes back on..? If it is a leak then its not constant..... it seems like there could be something else malfunctioning I also noticed that when i get CEL my average mpg numbers go down by ~2mpg, which makes sense since it injects more fuel according to the trim numbers.
  6. i understand that propane test should be done quickly, after the engine is strated. otherwise things will get hot and i could set the car on fire ... regarding the rust, the underside looks ok, exhaust is quiet, the car was always garaged before me so that helped preserve it somewhat. there was no engine work done, just an oil change/filter,burnt out headlight bulb was replaced recently. the thing is this code showed up first time in early may and then disappeared for a couple of weeks then re-appeared again. so looks like the leak is not consistent.? p.s. i just noticed that air intake temp value is way too high at 160F..!?!
  7. hi george, i think its $80 for the software, GUI is pretty nice indeed (i installed a few other programs and they were n't as nice, and most did not even work with this particular scanner). I also noticed somewhat high LTFT at lower rpm... so ECU is trying to add more fuel to keep at stoich air:fuel ratio at low rpm, than at high rpm? ( if i understand correctly). do you mean leak somewhere in the air intake? Wouldnt i see higher LTFT on the bank 1 as well if there was vac leak? Never used propane torch to find a leak .. how do i do that? thank you! p.s. i will check if it can do O2 sensor cross counts. i dont remember seeing them though...
  8. O2 sensors 1400-->600rpm: 2krpm sensors: trims at 600rpm: fuel analysis at 600 rpm:
  9. 2002 ES300, 154,000 miles (all highway) I got this CEL - PO430 - Catalyst efficiency below treshhold ( Bank 2 ). (i've been getting 25-27 mpgs, calculated at the pump, not sure if this is important) I ordered OBD II --> USB reader off ebay for 25$ shipped and installed this software: OBD 2007 software manual: http://rapidshare.com/files/257591733/OBD_...ogram_Guide.pdf I am trying to figure out why i Have PO430 and why it randomly appears/disappears. If this was a cat converter wouldnt i have CEL permanently? I took some screen shots, this is my first time running such extensive OBD diagnostics. Please take a look and comment if you have an idea about what might be going on here or what other tests i should do to troubleshoot this... (i must say the software is pretty cool and very user friendly, tons of cool features to play with) 610 rpm: 2200rpm: data snap shot (stored in the ECU) when the PO430 code came up for a first time, i do remember being on the highway and driving at 75mph when this happened: not sure what this is: O2 sensors while revving up 600->1400rpm:
  10. WTH gas has to do with miles? check your manual, if they say reg is fine - use reg. if they say use premium, dont use reg - use premium. CPU in my '02 ES300 can adjust from reg to premium fuel, with premium i may get better mpg's but not sure if its worth extra $$$.
  11. you never know until you open the case... do you know the fluid change history from previous owner? how was the color/smell/appearance of the old fluid? and lastly how many miles does it have? at this point i'd say drive it to the ground .. it may last you many more miles. on our '95 we always had this thing: when you start driving in the morning there is a slight lag from 2nd-->3rd gear (it shifts at higher rpm ~3krpm instead of 2-2.5), but then after few min's of driving its fine. 160kmiles on it. the fluid is red and clear with no funny smell or sediment. not sure if it was ever changed and im not taking any chances changing/flushing it at high miles.
  12. looks like they are not doing it right. i hope they dont charge for all these extra replacements...
  13. i've been quoted these prices from SS lex: $144.88 - 5540533230 $26.48 - 8621133170 $24.08 - 8621233170 $2.00 - 9015350010 $1.52 - 9356855016 $200 just for the dash kit... anyone knows the source where i can get these parts cheaper?
  14. dealextreme has them for less i believe. i ordered the key shell from them before (without the transponder) to refurbish worn out plastic key parts.
  15. are you replacing head unit as well? or just the sub?
  16. wallet key = flat key without transponder inside. it can only start car and can not unlock glove compartment/trunk.
  17. not sure if your sensor positions are the same as on '02 ES300..
