  1. Welcome! And congrats on your car -- nice!!
  2. Oh sure...rub it in...doesn't work on mine :( Umm.....sorry would it help if I mentioned that I have an ES, thought this may have been standard feature across the Lexus line...but apparently not..... No worries - I was just joking. :) The frustrating part is that the owner's manual clearly states this operation, but it doesn't work.... Darn...I tried on my 08 350 and it didn't work either :(
  3. That makes sense. I have never encountered it before, but then again it has never been 110F out here like it was recently so I wonder if it "melted" off. :) I will have them pull the door since it has to go in for an oil change soon. Thanks for the info!
  4. If they count the eval at 1000mi as maintenance, that is misleading. They do that much every time I take the car in for the free car wash.
  5. Ok, this is strange.... Put up the window yesterday and there is not a verticle grease streak about 1.5" wide on the driver window. It is on the inside and slightly more towards the back than center. It is very thin, but I am wondering where it came from? Nope, haven't spilled anything there :)
  6. I have noticed that if you come to stop quickly it holds the rpm's or sometimes even raises it for a few seconds. Is that what you are experiencing? I just figured it was either to keep the torque potentially up or the port injectors were kicking in. Otherwise it doesn't seem to hold the rpm's -- especially for 3 seconds.. One thing that helped us was taking it back to the dealer and having they reset the learning mode. Much better response. As a note I noticed that my wife averaged 22.x mpg yesterday. Before ETC she would have been in the 19.x range for sure.
  7. Ok, there have been a few threads on ETC Power mode vs Normal and it got me curious. When I first bought my 08 IS350 I was scared that it would destroy my mileage so never used it. Especially since HEAVY city traffic jam mileage occasionally dropped me to the 18mpg range. But I got curious and spent the last month driving the same route to/from work. It is about 90% city vs 10% hwy. My eval of ETC vs Normal mode is that it really depends on traffic. Driving style (aggressive vs gas conscious) made little difference. On some days ETC mode got slightly better mileage while on others Normal. As expected stop and go traffic killed mileage regardless. For overall mixed driving (50% freeway) both my wife and I got better overall mileage leaving ETC mode on all the time! (we got about 18.x mpg using Normal vs 21.x mpg ETC). Not a huge difference but considering the snappier performance a win-win for us. We both are a little heavy on the accelerator (hey, it has 306hp!) :) Freeway, of course, doesn't matter unless you are in traffic and the car shifts alot. On 2 recent trips from Seattle to Portland the computer said average speed trip average was 29.8 (darn Portland dropped it from being over 30 each time). Anyway, I thought I would share. For my wife and I we leave it in ETC mode all the time now. regards
  8. Your able to see your car all day? Through a window. Ironically to actually to get outside requires a 5 minute walk to actually get to it. I will live though :)
  9. During warm weather I like to leave the window(s) down or partially cracked. Unfortunately out here in the PNW it likes to rain. Randomly. It would have been nice to be able to roll them all up via FOB without actually going to the car. Normally it isn't too hot out here but we have had 100+ degree days lately.
  10. My dealer waid the first one was free but the other day I noticed that the window spec sticker says first 2.
  11. Yes, same problem. It is annoying coming from a car that did not do this. Also to Roger I have the same problem with the windows up (driver side only) at about 70mph...
  12. Anybody have any sounds clips of a 350 with a Joe Z air pipe? I just reading all the threads and was curious. To be honest I would only be interested if it is mild. I spent years driving a 5.0 that had relatively quiet Magnaflows on it (well, quieter than everybody else's Flowmasters anyway). The Magna's were quiet at idle but at 2000+ rpm were annoying. Some people really liked it, but not me...Must be getting old :)
  13. I actually wouldn't mind that except it requires removing/replacing the trim piece hiding the key slot.
  14. I know there is a separate F forum but I don't own one and I noticed a few posts about F accessories like the intake. For those that might be interested: http://www.lexus.com/promo/pdf/F-Sport_Coupon.pdf Hope it is ok to post. It is from Lexus.com...
  15. Yes, the 350 is awsome when it comes to acceleration and passing power. But ever since I test drove an IS-F, i feel as though my 350 is underpowered and lacking that extra-special something...lol! The grass is always greener on the other side I guess. I am with you 100%. Actually, the gearing in the 350 is well thought out -- I would be happy if they bumped up torque to 300 ft-lbs. That would make a significant difference and cheaper than an F.
  16. Cleaning a K&N air filter is very easy -- take it out, spray it with the cleaner, let it dry, spray with the lubricate, let dry, replace. The only thing is waiting before you can put it in. I clean them once a year. The results of having one, of course, vary depending on how much of an air flow intake restriction there is in the vehicle. In my 5.0 Mustang it seemed to make a noticeable difference. In my Jeep Cherokee it makes a cool whistling sound but I can't feel any difference. In my F150 no cool whistle or felt difference. I like them though. I haven't looked at the Lexus air filters, but the K&N cloth is definitely a step up from say Fram paper filters. regards
  17. So far, for me, it seems pretty close (maybe 1mpg difference). I am able to be a little heavier on throttle in the city and get snappier results than with normal. Haven't tried it on the freeway yet.
  18. It's just the transmission. ECT = Electronic Controlled Transmission Oh..that's what that means :)
  19. I was playing around with the POWER mode. It does feel like it downshifts more frequently and when it shifts it does feel faster/sharper. Anybody know if it does anything else like advance the timing?
  20. So wait.... the navigation does not continuously navigate for you like other cars? I am picking my lexus up on monday and it has nav, but might be disappointed if it does not work. and about this hack.... do you have to enter it everytime you wanna use or just once originally? Just to clarify, the NAV continuously works but the touchscreen locks you while in motion requiring you to pre-enter or use the voice command to input. The lockout also will not allow you to select a phone to sync with while in motion. I emailed Lexus to complain also. My issue is that they should tie the lockout with the air bag sensor so that it will at least will allow a passenger to use while in motion.
  21. Is there a way to close all the windows and the moonroof in one fell swoop (like with the remote or door lock button)?
  22. sorry there isnt one . It was only available upto 2008 Just to be clear the over-ride is not available in 2008 models either. :( I just emailed Lexus to complain. Don't know why they can't at least tie it into the air bar sensor so at least passengers can use it.
  23. Yes, my wife wouldn't have let me buy a car without passenger side lumbar.
