Lost Sound While Driving?
remat457 replied to remat457's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
I haven't been messing with the IPOD connection but that is something to check if it happens again. I am thinking that it actually has to do with entering the service menu. I think that I had been playing around with the gain/receive settings around the same time. I remember rebooting out of the service menu but not necessarily actually stopping/starting the car. I can't say for sure if this is what happened, but I haven't been in the service menu since, and the problem hasn't reoccured. Possibly connected somehow. -
My wife and I test drove one. The torque was AMAZING -- neck snapping! The backup camera was incredible--has guides to help you backup/park. As long as the guide goes where you want so does the car. The deal breaker was the lack of lumbar support on the passenger side (drivers has it). It is not even an option. The next step up (M?) has passenger lumbar but is a lot more money, doesn't have the 3.7, and my wife still preferred the IS seating. I know a lot of people like the G interior, but in general I felt it wasn't as nice as some of it's competitors. Did I mention it had a lot of torque? :)

Lost Sound While Driving?
remat457 replied to remat457's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
Ok, it did it again this morning and the phone is fine. In fact it dials and shows connection on the display screen but no sound :( I went into the service menu and under DSP-AMP it said NCON. Shutting off the car and turning it back on cleared it to ok. Any thoughts? -
One of the items in my service menu said CHEK (either NAV or audio) because I peeked before I brought it in from my dealer. But, I got it back from my dealer for an oil change. The paperwork says that there were no codes or issues found. I peek back in and everything says OK now. So, what does the CHEK actually mean? thanks

Nav: Turn Off Individual Poi
remat457 replied to remat457's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
That was the goal, but I was poking fun at the fact the NAV sometimes picks completely random things to interpret what I say to it :) -
I chose the IS350 over the 335 because: 1. although limited space in the back there is seating for (albeit a short) 5th person 2. Lexus reliability and resale 3. the 335 feels faster (gotta be the extra torque) but it does it with direct injection fuel AND dual turbo's (lrepair/work nightmare out of warranty) 4. Aluminum block with dual turbos? Even with the cast iron liners I just don't like it. See #3. 5. I think the Lexus interior is close to perfection 6. Lexus Dealer bent over backwards (and continues to do so even after the sale) (p.s. I didn't like the Quattro either. You should drive an IS350, if it fits you will like it!) Good luck!

Nav: Turn Off Individual Poi

Sorry--it's "Map View". Do it before you drive off. I've never learned the voice commands--it's just not worth the hassle. What you don't like saying "rest areas" and getting "thai food"? :P -
Bluetooth Receiver And Mic
remat457 replied to remat457's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
I think you are right. There is a big Storm update that is supposed to be any time now. Hopefully the BT is one of the things upgraded. Oh well, at least it is better than my Palm and I can still play with the gain and quality settings. -
Bluetooth Receiver And Mic

LG's seem to work really well with the car. My wife had an ENV prior that worked great. -

Wife and I both have a Storm. The auto-synch works great! -
Lost Sound While Driving?

Thanks for the feedback! My phone is set to auto-connect so it probably was paired. It is not anywhere that a button could have been hit but I still wouldn't rule the phone out. If it happens again I will be sure to peek at the phone and see if it is locked up too. -

I turned up the send and people say it is better but now they have a weird feedback noise. Sounds good on my end. I complained to my dealer and one of the guys that has a BB Storm made some changes on my phone and told me to let him know if it didn't work. Looks like he turned off the "encrypt channel" option... Will let you guys know if it worked (gotta call somebody while driving). :) -
I was driving and all sound turned off (stereo still playing) but volume control didn't work (didn't even register on the NAV screen). This was both nob and vol controls on steering wheel! I click the voice command button and nothing. Everything resolved the next time I started the car though. It was in for an oil change yesterday and the dealer said the couldn't find anything wrong. It has not replicated itself either. Anybody have this happen? Just a glitch?

Lexus Is350 Spotters Guide?
remat457 replied to hazards280's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
Used 350? Because the window spec sheet will tell you what is in a new one. Yes, it is underneath where you insert a CD/DVD (underneath on the right). Bass is awesome. We have a Bose surround in our F150 and the Levinson is a 10x better. I don't think so, but when you first turn on the car if it is facing a wall or garage door you can see it auto align itself (up and down, left and right). I don't have this option :( If you have a specific request I can take some shots for you... -

Thank you for the reply, but I suspect that won't work while driving. :( Is there an equivalent voice command like "POI off"? -
Top Speed Electronically Limited?
remat457 replied to Manolo1's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
=225km/h???? Some 'larger' cars are limited at 250km/h, i.e. +/-155mph Maybe it's size related? My Mustang GT was speed limited to 145 too... -

Must be something about that 140'ish speed as there are more than a few cars limited to to this. -
New Owner, Bluetooth / Voice Command Question
remat457 replied to phxomega's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
Since I have been dealing with BT and have Verizon, I thought I would throw my 2cents in.... Transferring contacts depends on the phone. My Palm would not but my wife's LG ENV and my new Blackberry Storm does also. You have to voice record the "name" for each contact in the car. IMO, it is time consuming to record each contact and saying "dial [name that you have to remember]" doesn't always work. I actually find it is easier to dial by name using my phone's voice command which actually does dial the correct contact without pre-recording anything. -
can you just turn off say "restaurants" but leave all the other selected ones one on? (like "rest areas") Thanks

Are the above referenced threads your latest posts on the tire/rim issue? Just wondering what the final results were.

Bluetooth Receiver And Mic
remat457 replied to remat457's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
Thanks for replies everyone! I will try and turn up the mic sensitivity and report back. BTW, my wife describes it as an obnoxious static'y sound that sounds over my voice when speaking. But only intermittently. hmm... -
Ok, My Palm 700wx was crappy with my IS350. I recently upgraded to a Blackberry Storm. The Bluetooth is 100x better (automatically connects, send contacts effortlessly) BUT when talking sometimes the person on the other end says the connection is 5x5 (loud and clear) but other times they say it is choppy with words dropped. I can't seem to figure out why but I was wondering where exactly is the BT receiver? Maybe I can put the phone up to it and see it improves the connection. Second where is the microphone? Maybe I can talk towards it... thanks

Extended Warranty - Worth It?
remat457 replied to clay1's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
It was my understanding that you can get a Lexus dealer to certify it (like a preowned) while it still had factory warranty to the CPO warranty. -
Automatic Climate Control

The auto does seem to behave erratically. Why does the AC come on?
