You are looking at a 97 Lexus ES300 In pristine condition. It has beel well maintained by an adult, and garage kept throughout its lifetime. I was originally selling this car with aNavigation system, and a premier pioneer audio system, but seeing as no one seemed to be interested. I have restore the lexus to its full factory condition, including all wires,wire harnesses, radios,speakers and amps. The car has 81k Miles and like i said is in show room condition. Thesea re the other visual modifications that have been done. 97-2001 Tail Light Conversion, all pieces and parts. Factory Order Lexus es 300 spoiler with 18led light. (factory 3rd light disenguaged 1 20" Blue Neon in the trunk,functions as trunk light. 4 New Struts, Shocks, and Springs. Lexus Coach Edition Conversion. (Emblems, Rims, Interior) Brand New Floor Mats (Facotry Lexus Es300) 11 Piece Factory Match Wood Trim kit is installed. ( Sunroof controlls are also in wood) 25% Tinted windows all the way around Front Windshield was replaced due to a rock hitting it on the highway 4 months ago. 4300K Headlights/Fogs Replaced Timing belt Serpentine Belt Alternator Water pump Battery All Interior Lightbulbs Flushed All Fluids, including Trans. New Spark plugs (Denso Iriduium) The car runs and drives like a dream. Still feels the same as when I bought it. Car is waxed twice a month and washed very often, I take excellent care of the car, and always clean the interior, no blemishes or marks. As you can see from the pics. I just bought a timing belt and water pump off ebay, brand new sealed in the toyota boxes. 50$ :) Just have paitence and look around. Good deals are hard to find

I just did the conversion on my 97 to the 01 tail lights. Everything fits, bulbs and harness except for the trunk lights Both the Driver and Passanger side "running lights." if you will.. the ones that light up when you have your daytime running lights turned on. The plugs do not fit inside of the housing, you need the 00-01 bulb housing inorder for it to fit, or else, when you plug your 97 bulb plugs into the housings they are dim, and do not light up.

I think maybe you might have to remove the whole thing, as go all the way down to the shaft? this is a pain in the !Removed! at best =/ ... I hope their is an easier way.

Still nothing =/ I dont see how it is going to realease because the OD is still connected, I am just not sure how to remove the OD and relase the shifter. =/

It is just the stock handle, because unfortunately, as you guys found out as well.. there isnt a replacement for the ES..at least not that I have found... =/ My current shifter is a little torn, hell its 8 years old, it did its time. So I bought a replacement , (stock shifter) for 10$ on ebay..couldnt beat the price. I am going to try it today, ill let you know whart happens.

Hey Guys, I recently bought a replace shifter knob off ebay..got it for 10$. Brand new, or so it says. Anyhow it is in excellent condition but I have no idea how to replace the exsisting one. I got as far as removing the bezel and the screws from the knob, but after that I couldnt get it to release, obviously im missing at least a couple of things, any that could shed some light on this, it would be greatly appeciated. Step by step directions would be awesome too :) If possiable. Thanks in advance!

so what should the idle be? for a stock 1997 lexus es 300 coach, and is it possible to raise the idle speed, by adjusting something or configuring a setting?

I would say the idle is about 700 or so, on the rpm gauge you have the 0, of course and then the line above it which I believe is about 250 or so? Then the next line, lower then the 1000 mark, I belive is about 750 correct? ... My idle useually is below this line, as I can clearly see the whole line, while looking at the rpms this morning on my way to class. Every once and a while, the rpms go far below that line,almost low enough to where the engine stalls, only has happened once or twice, maybe 3 times since I have had the car.

Hey again all!. Well I have my 97 es for about 1 1/2yrs now. It currently has just under 70k. I am beginning to notice some problems, or more accurately, sounds, that were never there. Little Backround about the car and the addons it has. Pioneer AVIC-N1 Navigational System XM Sat Radio Voice Recognition system for the AVIC Pioneer W305cs x2 12in. Subs w/ ported box. Memphis 1.2 FARAD Cap 2 20' Neons ,1 under glove box, other under steering wheel,drivers side. Attached by a switch. Factory Speakers all around, factory subwoofer, obv. removed. I have Silverstars all the way around Spoiler w/ 18led Brake light. Currently on order: Streetglow Gold Seriers Neon Underbody Kit. I know what you all thinking, why would anyone do all this to an ES, my thinking behind it was a little sport to go with the luxury, as I am 17 and was not giving a choice of cars, I simply gave the $ to my parents and they spotted me about 2grand to get this car last year. Anyhow, its not flashy what you all might be thinking, I might have to post pics that way you all can see hwo clean it looks, lol. Anyhow, reason I posted all the accessories that have been added, is because I believe their might be something wrong with the electrical system, although I am not a mechanic nor a expert So I figured I would post on here. Also the engine is 100% stock, also the original battery, from 97 is in the car.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First Problem: When the car is running, when I stop at a stoplight ect, and am at idle, or without my foot on the gas, there is a very annoying vibration that I can feel in the steering wheel and in the pedals. (I took it to my mechanic and he said it was def. coming from the engine and that I should put a fuel additive into the tank,b/c their might be water in the light, oxidation ect..) I did that two days ago, and the vibration still continues, also it is not anything to do with the brakes, as I have to be at a complete stop. If I put the car in (N) the vibration lessons, put in back in gear and it grows... I think their is some type of load on the engine if you will.. If I have all the accessories off, say im driving ..no headlights,ac,radio, or neons, the vibration is MUCH less. As soon as I turn some of these things on, the vibration arises. The reason I think their is some type of electrical system problem is, because the avic system monitors the voltage, and it drops to around 11.7-11.9 without my audio system being on, just the AC and headlights/foglights. If I turn the system on just a bit, the volts easily drop down to around 11.3-11.5 or lower, this is while the car is on. My mechanic said that is not a problem, long as when I start driving it comes back up, which it does to around 13.3-13.5. Now the other thing I noticed is that, The power cap in my trunk reads a different voltage then my avic system does.. the cap in the back seems to be about .5 or .6 higher then what the dial on the avic system reads, at any given time. The cap, is hooked up directly to the battery with a inline 40amp fuse. I have been trying to do some reasearch on what is causing this vibration, but I cant figure it out, nor am i able to tell if this voltage, or low voltage readings have anything to do with it. I hope that isnt took confusiong for all of you, I know its alot to read, but I appreaciate it very much ty. Do you think I need a new battery? if so should I go w/ a deep cycle, such as a optima yellow top.. or a new alt.? Or is it something else and im totally off? 2nd Problem... When i step outside the car, after say driving home form class, or just when I have been out. There is a noise coming from under the hood, it def seems to be the serpentine belt possibly, if I put some wd40 on it, it seems to lesson. Not sure how to describe the noise.... =/ Do I need a new belt possibly? ..... the gentleman I bought the car from only took the car to lexus dealerships for all the services, including oil changes and tire rotations, according to the service records. I dont see anywhere that it has been replaced, so I am assuming it has not. All of the other service was done, as far as I know. 60k service was done, but no mention of the timing belt, i think its called Well Thanks guys,let me know if I need to clarify anything. lol steve, that is a good way to put it. Well I responded to his socalled dispute with ebay "going on record" with the dispute he calls it. Anyhow, I called the dealerships and did all that and I put a note in the response to his noting the previous information that we discussed in the thread, he has yet to respond, nor has ebay contacted me or escalated his claim, like I said before I wasnt to happy about might having to give him a refund. Anyhow, besides, the dealership and lexus are behind me on this one, along with you all, and you all might as well be professional lexus techs,as much as we help each other out on the forum and all. He claims to be professional rear view mirror installer, kinda funny if you think about it the right way. heh heh. He started a dispute with ebay, and I keep reiterating the same old words, and he just keeps saying im lieing and unfortunately im probably going to have to give him his money back, even though I am right. Props to ebay's new dispute system. cheers

nothing special, I havent seen one that has varried in difference from the mirror taken out of my car. No manufactor names, such as gentex or anything. The person that has now filed a dispute with me on ebay, I think is getting the LS400 mirror confused with the es 300 ones. I know the LS400 models sometimes came with the brown-ish color mirror matching the interior of the car.

I bought the 97 used, from a dealer here in florida. When I bought the car the rearview mirror that was in it, was just a plan old mirrior, about the quality you might find at a autoparts store, no autodimming or anything like that. I recently had bought a gentex mirror with autodimming and compass, and had it installed~it works great. I sold the original mirror, that came in the car originally on ebay for 11.00$ on ebay , I advertised it as a stock lexus es 300 mirror, now the gentleman that bought it is accusing me of false advertisment. My question to you all is what rearview mirror actually comes in a 97 lexus es 300? And is it possible someone might have a picture to post or send to me? P.S I have been looking online, and here in the town where I live at other lexus es 97-99s and they all seem to have the same mirror, I can not notice any difference, maybe im missing soemthing, or the gentleman who bought this from me, is trying to pull a fast one. So did anyone ever find out what to lube the "bump stops" with?

I bought and installed a Pioneer Avic-N1 into my 1997 lexus es 300 with 63k mi. Also I have installed the XM Radio kit into the Avic-N1 , along with builiding a custom piece to fit into the OEM radio size din of the lexus radio. Also running in the trunk is 2 12" audiobahns powered by a 1000watt rms mono amp w a 2.0 farad caps. I was wondering, since the avic-n1 had to run off a dvd for navigation in conjunction with the gps and gyro sensors to tell your location (well it has memory mode, but that is only a 10x10mi radius, of my choosing). I was hoping to install my factory oem 6 cd changer, which is located in the glovebox into the avic n1. I understand that it is a pioneer 6 cd changer that is in the 97 es 300's, is it possible to connect it to the avic n1? Any help would be appreciated, Thank you in advance all and hopefully im not wasting too much of everyones time.

Im 16.. :) 97 ES 300 ! 59xxx Bought for 8,500 :) Excellent..well Perfect Condition. Older man owned the car, and cared for it like a child. Waxed, and polished it. Washed it once a week,and condition the leather since new.. +Synthetic every 2.9k After reading the other posts... It took me 3 years of saving my money from work to buy this car.. Paid in cash, and was a done deal. Bought it about 4 months ago. Ill be 17 in about 3 months..so not actually 3 years...I saved my money for about 2 years to buy the car...been at the same job now for almost 3.. Making 10.50$/hr as office staff at Publix Inc.
