  1. Hey Guys, Did a search for blower speed, blower resistor, blower relay, etc. but every post just dances around the issue. The issue: Low and Medium speeds are gone. The low speed went 1st. Then yesterday medium didn't work. I never use high til now since it sounds like a 747 at full throttle. But when the heat index is 115*, what the heck, right? I always use max cool, manual. Never auto. Tried auto when medium speed died, and it did nothing. Anyway, does this sound like a relay, or is it called a resistor, or the motor itself? I will check the fuse, but if it's the fuse then there should be no juice at all, right? If it's a resistor, can I use a Yoda part? What is a good source for lex aftermarket parts?
  2. The next symptom will be the stalling/ sputtering/ dieing issue. Save yourself the aggravation of replacing needless parts, false diagnosyses (read guesses) and hours/ days spent in the shop. Our friend above is correct. Here's what to do: 1-Open the trunk, 2-Observe the wire harness movement at the left hinge as you open/close the lid. (this will help you pinpoint the spot in the harness that has become frayed/fatigued). 3- Remove the wire harness cover. 4-Strip off all the tape, etc. 5- Look for breaks or near breaks in the wires. You will find at least one. That is your stereo circuit. It has obviously not broken completely or you would hear no sound at all. 6-Re-connect, then re-wrap each wire individually, then wrap the whole into one bundle to reinforce it. Let it swing freely in the trunk. 7-Make sure that when you are finished with the repair, that you route the whole mess such that there is as little movement/tension on it as open or shut the lid. It is this action that caused the short to occur in the first place. After years of repeated tension the wires will start to fatigue and break. This is a design flaw that most dealers should be aware of. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  3. Hey This may seem arbitrary, but I may have an answer for you. This same type of problem happened to me about a year ago. This smooth world class car started balking, cutting out, lurching, and seemed ready for the junk yard. It happened all of a sudden. No warning. I thought the engine was toast. Now it's smooth as silk w/ 255,000 miles on it. Open the trunk. On the left side you will see a wire harness on the left hinge. After repeated openings and closings the wires inside that harness become fatigued and frayed. Then they start shorting out. Then your ECU starts getting bad input. Then your air/ fuel ratio goes to hell, then you have intermittant spark. Then sputtering, stalling, and everything you describe. This is a design flaw and lexus knows it. In short ( :D ), if this describes your problem, then strip down the harness, untwist all the wires, re-connect, then re-tape with duct tape. Make sure to leave off the bracket that ensures tension on the harness. Just let it swing free and loose. In my case, problem solved, and no spending thousands of dollars in diagnostics, parts, and tech snafus. I am 95% sure this is the answer. Best of all, it's free! Good luck...
