  1. Two things: I had Freeze 12 on my 928 and it worked fine. I could not find any local A/C shop who used it, so I was afraid I would be stuck if I ever had a problem. I converted that car and my 92 sc400 to r134. They both work fantastic and I can get service anywhere. An evaporator leak can be a pretty big problem. It usually involve removal or dash and HVAC system. It's a long DIY project and an expensive dealer job. In some cars it's a fatal condition, costing more to fix than car's value. I hope you don't have that situation. I have also heard that some of the various stop-leak additive can help on evap leaks. Beware that some A/C shops are pretty picky about working on cars that have stop-leak, since it can clog up their automatic recharge machines. Good luck. thank you very much sir Specifically, how difficult is it to remove the evaporator core, do i have to remove the entire dash and evap case, or can i get it out from under the glove box. Has anyone had to do it before in a 92 sc4.
  2. lol, what does that smiley mean?? and nope, i havent ordered them YET, really itching to do it though. I have a popped evaporator and its hellishly hot down here, so that comes first.
  3. Here is a good question for yall, i've been told my evaporator has a leak, what is involved in removing it??
  4. LoL, seriously, my engine bay is immaculate. Thank you very much for the help lexusHam, i am thinking about those ebay ones, lol i've heard they like to fog up, but its worth a try if the dealer warrants them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLACK-92-99...emZ260262443175 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-99-LEXUS...emZ310067712806 They look really nice. Pics are a must, i know.
  5. I agree, it won't hurt to replace it with Freeze12, but you'll have to service or replace your compressor down the road. Freeze12 has an extra additive to make it a bit more environmentally friendly compared to r12 and r134. that's what causes it. Did you find a good shop to service it? I work in parts at a Toyota dealership, the master tech is always just around the corner
  6. there might be a R34 upgrade kit available. Search the forum for A/C refrigerants. I had looked at those kits, but im worried about it just permiating the hoses/rings and leaking out all over. I figured Freeze12 might hold better and doesnt require a conversion. Am in the right direction with this?
  7. What exactly are we trying to do, replace the bulbs or the housing itself? Also you don't have to take the front cover off. You can remove it from the engine bay Im replacing the actual high beam housing, i know how to remove the headlights, just the high beams im not sure about. So the front bumper cover doesnt have to come off to remove the high's? Any pics, or step by step?
  8. My 92 SC4 popped its highside a/c hose and dumped a big portion of my check book out into the atmosphere..... <_< Got the new hose coming in tomorrow, but R12 is very expensive and i want to put Freeze12 in my system instead. Any experience on bad things about using Freeze12, any important notes i should know.
  9. Please.....anyone???
  10. Sooooo, before i go tearing my front bumper off on a hunch, does anyone who has done this specifically before have some step by step help??? It would be greatly appreciated . Im putting some aftermarket Headlights on.
  11. First the SC400 does not use oil pan gaskets, just silicone. Next your gonna notice two oil pans, a secondary, and a primary ( secondary built onto the primary ) You should redo both of these! The secondary will come off no prob, but the primary you have to remove a brace, if your a novice mechanic i would suggest having someone experienced looking over your shoulder. The silicone you can get from toyota, just simply oilpan sealant. Apply it generously and then let sit over night before adding oil and starting.
  12. I wish i could afford both cars at the same time, really cant, this one has to go for a down payment on the next car. Thank You for the comment, oh and by the way, the price of the car is at 7,000, i cant go any lower. Thanks guys.
  13. Just an update, price dropped to 8,000
  14. Alright guys, Got some news for yall, My car is for sale, 9,000 obo, If you are interested call my cell 985-257-0091. Im looking for a car with better gas mileage, and this one will def be missed, figured i'd go ahead and sell it while its in tip top condition.
  15. Got it figured out guys, it was just a plugged screen in the tranny, works great now!
  16. What do you think? Exhaust clip: Cutoff, and turned down behind center resonator (i like loud) even though its very tame until you step into it. Tell me what you think, suggestions, description of mods below.
  17. When i put my SC4 in neutral and rev the engine the car jumps forward, also if you do it while you are rolling you can propel the car forward with mid range rpm's. My SC4 has been doing that since i bought it about 8 months ago, and now its starting to have a lag in acceleration towards the top end, just seems like its screaming and having little result. Any suggestions would be nice.
  18. A MASSIVE help for me was to change the fuel filter, i gained 7 mpg right off the back, upgrade to a fram. You'd be suprised at how much less gas the engine burns if it flows better. Seems kind of backwards, but it works. Also pick up a throttle chamber cleaning kit from BG products, about 25 bucks, that works awesome too, there is alot of build up in those throttle bodies, esp around the butterfly valve.
  19. Just call up your local auto parts store and get a fram, it will be cheaper, and yes your location is right. Its not difficult at all, and running your tank to empty really wont help all that much unless you get it bone dry, so just have something to collect the gas. It would though be hard to change if you dont have a lift to put it on, otherwise its very simple.
  20. I didn't have to change the left side out. Not sure if you can gain access, but how about if you reach up from below after you take the lower engine covers off. I mean the covers you take off to get to the oil filter. remove the inner fender protector inside the wheel well, towards the lamp, you can reach in from there to get to it, or to make it very easy remove the headlight
  21. Capacity for your car with the filter is 5.1 Qt's. If you don't currently have any oil leaks.....you should be good to switch to synthetic. B) just did an oil change on my sc4 with mobil one 5w30, with a filter it will take 6 quarts on the dot, get six it will be close
  22. Hey guys, yet another 92 SC4 owner, just bought a few months ago it had 133, 345 miles, not a single problem yet, runs like a dream. I just wanted to say that it has not made any grinding noise when i brake, lots of squeaking from the high performance ceramic pads i put on, but not a grinding noise.
  23. Please??? Really?? No one knows where the Air Intake Temperature sensor is on a 92 SC4????
