Thats some poetry right there buddy, i know what you mean, the ocean is an amazing thing. LoL, and a floating starbucks can be arranged. LOL...well it has its downfalls ...hurricanes and squaws...rode Katrina out wont do that again..lol.. and never in my life seen a rouge wave but have seen what one does..dont want to be there then...but yes a floating starbucks would be really nice addition...lmao LoL, i know my hurricanes buddy, trust me. I learned a long time ago to just get out of their way. I live in the coastal region of Louisiana, and we just got 2 1/2 feet of water for Ike, even though it only glanced us. It would definitely be one of those monumental architectures i would go see...."Come one, come all to starbucks, the SEA WORLD edition!" -

This was my car when it was still bone stock, with REALLY crappy Goodyear Eagles on it, almost bald. Its a 0-100mph run, spinning the tires clear to 42mph. Enjoy guys, eventually when i have time i will post a 0-100 with current mods. http://www.youtube.com/user/defcomproductions

My Adventures In Fuel Filter Land
Lethal_Threat replied to 92BlueByU's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I was told by our master tech. that they have a 100,000 mile lifespan, but for maximum efficiency, you should change them every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. ( Use OEM filters, it will save you alot of heartache, K&N's fit well also. ) As far as the fuel on the arm issue goes, next time tie a few shop rags together, end to end, and the tie the first one around the nut at its end leaving you just enough room to put a spanner on it. Then drape the chain of rags to the side, with a bucket underneath. Just be careful as you put the nut back on that you dont catch the rag. Best thing of all though, run the tank empty to the point of the fuel level warning light coming on, only common sense. -
Bodywork On Passenger Quarter Panel
Lethal_Threat replied to Cwallbball10's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
The application of paint and polishing will be the final tester as to whether its gonna come out smooth, but the work looks wonderful, the pics arent very high resolution, but it looks like the lines came out right. At least your car is red and not black, even if there are some waves, they wont show as much. Show us some pics when its painted!!! :) -
Welcome to one of the oddities of the sc400

Ticking From Exhaust Heat Shields
Lethal_Threat replied to Thomas A. Iglesias's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I was told it had to do with the primary cats. All of my heat shields are removed, including 90% of the stock exhaust system. The ticking still comes from the area of the cats. -
92 Sc400 Ecu Cumputer Location?
Lethal_Threat replied to 305pimpc's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Sounds like a fuel issue, or even ignition coil. (both much cheaper to diagnose first.) Search the forum for, Fuel pump bypass, so you can rule that out first. -
No, it was most probably right, it is a serious SERIOUS pain in the.....yeah.... to get the aftermarket fuel filters to fit. its like they are 1/32" shorter than OEM and it took me about 30 min with gas dripping down my arm to get that nut to seat. It really wouldnt make since that you stripped the nut on the fuel line since it is a much harder steel than the very mild recycled steel used to make the cases on those fuel filters.

The lean code and flooded plugs don't seem to go together. The new fuel pump and ECU would seem to direct attention away from the fuel supply. Flooded plugs should indicate fuel isn't an issue...I'd look at ignition components serving the flooded plugs. Assuming the wet plugs are restricted to the left bank, logic would say it has to be a component common to those particular four cylinders. Ignition wires for the entire bank shouldn't all go at the same time, so focus on the distributor wire, distributor components or electronics for that bank of cylinders. Same thing happened to my SC4, lexus replaced the left ignition coil. They said it is a pretty common failure.

Bodywork On Passenger Quarter Panel
Lethal_Threat replied to Cwallbball10's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Here is a new picture of the panel cut out. Everything is prepped, and the other piece is cut out...Now it's time to match everything up and weld on Wow thats what it looks like in there, lmao. Why didnt he just cut the quarter panel at the bottom of the A-Pillar and remove the entire quarter. Thats how body shops do it, its gonna be a pain in the neck to smooth out that patch. Good luck to you though! -
yep, its stainless, go back with stainless tubing or you will rust everything out. I was thinking about running true duals, are there noticeable gains? Was it worth it, in your opinion? There are noticeable exhaust flow gains, depending on your mufflers though, you might sacrifice a lot of bottom end. Deleting the Y pipe lets the engine breath MUCH easier, and its very noticeable by my vid, you can hear just how heavy the engine is panting. You can hardly hold back the exhaust with your hand over the tip, not to mention the exhaust is much cooler, temperature wise, as well. An added benefit is that you can easily get a read on the left and right banks of the engine since they are seperated to two sides. With the stock mufflers, everything deleted between, and true duals, you get ALOT of pickup, awesome sound, with very very little cabin noise. Once you go to a freer flowing muffler you will loose that bottom end, but those 1UZ-FE's have plenty! I am personally thinking about some magnaflow mufflers, canister type for lower resonation, with 4 inch tips.

It sounds nice, very raspy, but not quite deep enough for my taste.

Its solely your preference, if you like the halos and HID then go for it -
If you have limited mechanical knowledge i would take it to a mechanic. But i know specifically about your oil problem, i had it with mine. If it is "eating" oil and not dripping it on the ground or smoking, then the valve cover/spark plug gaskets are leaking, the oil is running down the block/manifold and being immediately burned off. Run your finger below the ledge where your head meets the block, you'll probably find tons of black residue.

Lets see a pic!! :)
-
LMAO! i never noticed it but it does sound alot alike! B)

175 bucks, but i know the guy that does the exhaust work at midas, he did it after hours. Your probably looking at 300. Def. buddy, post a vid so we can all hear, it just gives us more options. I personally dont like flow through style mufflers, too much resonation and doesnt bring out the mean sound of a V8

check how well the gasket around the highbeam made a seal, they dont leak through the lens, but the breather tube on the back can let some in if the condensation can get past the headlight. If its not sealing well, use some insulation tape and close that gap up.
