  1. im waiting till winter when there is a price drop in tint, i plan on 35% up front (legal limit in TX) then on the small rear windows doing a limo of about 5 or 10, then the back probaly around 15 (dark but not to the point where its hard to see out of at night) all of which is perfectly legal on TX, I as well have the pearl white so im going with the darkest i can get away with.
  2. this may seem a bit to obvious but sometimes you forget the simple things, did you happen to check your power steering fluid level? i know my car leaks ps fluid and if it gets too low it makes that whiny sound.
  3. how did you open it up so air passed through?
  4. does anyone know who deep the space is in the stock sub location in the 92 sc400
  5. does anyone know what type of power handeling the stock Nak sub from a 92 sc400 has?
  6. when I listen to my CD player at high volume for more then say 10 or 15 min the sound starts to cut out, only for a few seconds at a time, but the CD keeps going then the sound comes back in as if i had just hit the mute button for a few seconds. I do have aftermarket rear speakers and im afraid that at high volume they may be drawing too much power for the stock Nak amp. If you have any answeres for me that would be great, at the moment I am trying to diagnose. also can anyone point me in the direction of how i can get my hands on a free-air subwoofer? Ive been told countless times that a normal sub will not work as a free air sub but i can not find anywhere to get a free-air sub. thank you
  7. i strongly encourage anyone and everyone that drives a car with more then 50,000 miles or thats older then about 5 years old to use seafoam. you can get it from autozone for about $6 a can. i usualy do between 2\3 and 3\4 n the gas then the last little bit in the oil. i only suggest putting it in the oil if you are going to be changing your oil and oil filter in the next month or so. as far as in the intake a third a can is way too much in the intake. i would say do maybe a fifth of a can at most, if you feel thats not enough do a couple stages of a little at a time, it should not kill the engine, but you let it suck some up then turn the car off and let it sit for 5-10 min then start it up and rev it, it will probaly smoke alot. this stuff is amazing it helps with MPG, a smoother ride, smoother and improved acceleration, and in some cases even an improved sound. this stuff is amazing and if used properly i suggest to everyone.
  8. I dont know what could be wrong but 10mpg is terrible, i as well have a 92 sc400 and even with a heavy food i still get 16 or 17 in the city and 22 to 23 in the highway.
  9. luckaly mine in the 92 isnt under the cd changer, but im not all that worried about it since im just gonna power speakers with it, i was just curious.
  10. well i replaced the rear speakers about 3 months ago and they work great, as far as the new sub i never planed on using the stock amp to power the new sub. i guess since the nak amp works ill just leave it to power the speakers, and use an aftermarket amp to power the new sub. you wouldnt happen to have a guess as to the power out put of the stock nak amp would you?
  11. as far as the ABS goes as long as you keep the overall tire and rim weight around the same the ABS should not be effected. remember that rotational weight has a much greater effect then stationary weight. the lighter the wheel and tire combo the better off you are.
  12. yea i dont plan on going that crazy with the sub, i plan on like an alpine, infinity, or MTX so the sub would be around $80-$120 then as far as the amp goes that will be about $300-$400 and i already plan on replacing the head unit regardless of weather or not i do the sub, i plan on a pioneer head unit for around $150 or so, and i have already replaced the rear speakers with 6.5in infinity loud speakers, and sometime in the relativly near furture plan on replacing the front with infinity as well. you did kinda mention a question i had, i was wondering if the stock nak amp powered the speakers as well or just the sub, if it does do the speakers as well could i just leave it to do the speakers, and get a new amp just for the sub? as far as install goes i was thinking of having it done at the best buy back home in Dallas where i know, or have friends that know the people that work there anc can get them to vouch for them.
  13. im looking to put in a new subwoofer to replace my stock Nak sub, in my 92 sc4 does anyone know what size the stock one is, and what is the max mounting depth i can fit in the stock location? im thinking of going with a 10 inch 300w free air sub to go in the stock location, any one got any recomendations for the sub and\or an amp to power it? thanks for your help
  14. The interiror passinger door handle broke in my 92sc4, i tried epoxy to fix it but it just didnt work. i was wondering if anyone knew the best place to get a new one, and how difficult it would be to replace? Thanks
  15. http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109384 this shows how to take apart the door to get to the front speakers, but it may help you get to your problem as well. i hope this helps
  16. once i get the money and time my first performanse mod is going to be a new torque converter, it will more effecently transfer power to the rear wheels, increasing rear wheel horsepower, acceleration, and should even help with gas mileage.
  17. i get great base with the stock nak system, i cant play burned CD's worth a *BLEEP* but real CD's or the radio work great, are you sure your sub isnt blown, or something went wrong when putting in your new deck? ive been told you can get a 10 inch sub in the stock location with minimal modification, that would leave the stock look as well as leave your trunk space, i dont know much about using the stock amp but with that you can change the amp and get as much "bump" as you would like and still save your trunk.
  18. my first guess would be that the catalytic converters are going bad.
  19. yea no problem, i have an SC400 and was wondering the same thing and i saw that post a while ago, i havent had the time to take a look at mine since im a full time college student with a full time job but i would imagine its probaly the same. but yea next to nothing on a lexus is straight forward. glad i could help
  20. hey ignore that guy, all he does is makes stupid comments like that to make himself feel special, i found this post that may help you out, http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...;hl=spark+plugs good luck, i hope this helped
  21. keep me up dated on how it works with burned CDs thats pretty much all i use these days. i as well replaced my rear speakers i used infinity, i love them but i did have to do a lil modification to get them to fit. i wanted to keep the stock covers but they were hitting the speaker so i got longer screws and 1/2 inch nylon spacers to raise them a little, it worked like a charm and it still looks pretty stock. some day when i get the time and money ill replace the fronts as well.
  22. yea i have tried the memorex cd-r and they help a little mainly through the first few tracks on the disk but then it resumes the skipingas normal. i have heard that the 6 disk changers are better then the 12, i currently have the 12 and may try to find a cheep 6 disk and try to change it out.
  23. does anyone know if there are any other CD changers, like posibly off a newer model, that will just plug and play in my 92 SC4 with the Nak system? the current one is not a fan of burnt CD's and that drives me nuts. thanks
  24. can anyone tell me the in and out measurements on the mufflers of a 92 SC4? im looking to put flowmasters or magnaflow on to make it sound like there acutaly is a V8 in there somewhere.
  25. my CD changer in my 92 SC400 with the Nak stereo is driving me crazy skipping when using burned CD's and im at my wits end, i want to replace it but i know they have special plugs, is there an easy way to repalce the CD changer withoug having to replace the entire stereo system?
