  1. Kind of what I figured BTW, I purchased a months worth of Carfax thinking I would need it. So if anyone needs me to run a VIN for them I can till late February B) Pete -Is it a possibility to repair the leather on the wheel? Sand it down and re finish it maybe?
  2. Well, I went for it today. A 1992 LS, Blk/cream, 113k, grand total of $2900. A few dings here and there but still a lovely shine! This thing drives smooooth! Went to pick it up in NY (bout 188 miles) and drove it back. Smoother than my buddies 2007 Pontiac grand prix, We had to laugh, being that it is a 16 year old car :whistles: . Anyway, There are a few things, just cosmetic bothering me. The interior is very well kept, aside from a tear in the driver seat, there is little to no wear, but the steering wheel is killing me! Im gonna surf around tonight and see what I can do about it, It's worn to the bone. Any suggestions, Maybe grab a new one off Ebay or something, What do you typically do? Other than that I love it!! It was the very informative and supportive nature of this forum that secured my decision to buy this vehicle, Thanks!! Pete
  3. Hello guys, I'm going to look at a 92 LS tomorrow morning (the one I had mentioned in a previous post). I was wondering if any site exists to check the VIN? Or do I have to just man up and pay the Carfax? Thanks in advance, Peter
  4. "But no title? " I know, I know. Makes me a bit uneasy. I was actually hoping to work on it myself.
  5. Here are a few shots of it.... Looks darn good to me!!!
  6. Im sure there are more improvements. I actually kind of like the more slender, bullet like design of the 90-92, seems like it started to get more beefy in 93. Really they all look good. I really like the miles on this blk one. I have decided to take a ride up and check it out friday. It'll waste a full tank of gas ad about 6 hours out of my day but if I like the car it'll be more than worth it to me!! :D Thanks again!! Pete Had no idea the 1UZ-FE was so light on the throttle!. Gave it a couple of whacks today. Nearly tached it out, I was used to the slow roll of my 2000 528i. Its kind of refreshing! Let me see if I can get some pics of this vehicle.
  7. Ok, went to look at this vehicle (then I had school) just getting home now. It ran great but was a little more hacked (cosmetically) than I was willing to deal with. The rims were pretty badly abused, I doubt I could have even given them away. I guess I have to keep on looking. Which reminds me!!!!! There is a gentle man in brooklyn NY selling a 92 Blk/beige LS with 110k on it. I have received extensive photos from him. Let me tell you, The car looks mint! He says other than a small tear in the drivers seat the interior is indeed mint. About a dime sized ding in the passenger rear quarter, other than that I can't find anything els wrong! The best part is He will take 3100! Almost seems to good to be true. It's about a 3 hr drive for me but at this point Im seriously considering it. I need a vehicle soon and already have my mind set on the LS. What do you guys think? BTW he cannot find the title....makes me a bit uneasy Thanks again, Pete
  8. Hello guys, I am going to look at a 92' LS 400 w/ 116k on it. The gentleman has given me the usual, maintained well, t belt done at 90 blah, blah. The photos Ive seen are pretty nice looking. The thing that red flags me is the wheels. It has 20" giovanni rims (personally I cant stand rims, If I do purchase this vehicle, I would trade them for a set of stocks) Im just curious as to whether or not this may have unforeseen consequences on the vehicle. I don't even know where to start, perhaps someone could help me? Thanks a mill, Peter
  9. Guys, I was looking to make a bid on this rig. Bidding ends in 6 hrs. Thanks, Pete
  10. Hello guys, I came across this ebay listing for a 96 LS with 125k on it. Apparently there is a slight tapping sound. The car is low bid right now. What do you think? Heres the description: "1996 Lexus LS 400 - 1 Owner - 125971 Miles - Sunroof - CD Changer The interior is like new - the body is excellent except for some barely visable scratches on the bumpers. The old lady who donated this vehicle has been driving it for about a year with a noise coming from the engine area. It is a subtle, but audible tapping sound. One mechanic said a collapsed lifter, the other said it's coming from the flywheel area. The collapsed lifter sounds resonable since the noise is sometimes intermittent along with a slight miss at idle. Most times it runs smooth and quiet at idle. At higher RPM's the noise goes away and the motor runs strong." Thanks, Pete BTW- current bid is at $2900
  11. I was wondering that myself actually, I can't tell if it is on a graded surface. There is someone in the drivers seat. I don't know if the engine is running.
  12. Hello guys!!! Another potential candidate has arisen. I have a question though. I have not had a chance to bring this car to my mechanic yet or drive it. However judging by it's condition after a walk around it seems to be in excellent condition. Leather looks new, paint is almost perfect (except for a baseball sized indentation on the rear fender). 93' with 130k on it. Unfortunately it has the air suspension. I have two pictures here of the left and right profile. The left rear wheel/wheel-well clearance seems to be noticeably less than the right rear wheel. I really dont have the experience to draw any conclusions from this, logic tells me this could be due to a suspension problem. I really can't tell, maybe the wheel is slightly raised (on higher ground) in comparison to the other wheels? Here are the pics, what do you think? Thanks again guys!!!!!
  13. Thanks again!!! Lol, saw another 95' LS - Blk/Blk with 117k on it out in cali. My sis lives right down the street from the dealership, unfortunately It could be running on 3 cylinders and she wouldn't notice it. She hasn't been there long enough to have found a reputable mechanic.......Darn! Pete
  14. Ok guys, thanks for all the help! Ive really wanted an LS for a while and I think I'm going to spring for this one, I've never really been into an engine to be honest ( just accessories) but Ive been in just about everything els mechanical, All the same right?. Are there any LexLs sites dealing with the 95+ model? If he goes for 4.5 Ill have a few bucks left over, should I get into the suspension assuming the TB is good? Again thanks for all the help!!! What a great forum!!!
  15. Looks Mint! 1 owner trade, checking on timing belt. 95' -154k Silver/Blk Perfect inside and out, can't even hear it idle! PS fluid was low though? He said he filled it a couple days ago and it hasn't moved. I really love this car , hes asking $6350 I might offer 5. What do you guys think? Is the PS situation a prob with this yr? Thanks Pics not showing up for some reason? :(
  16. Hi Guys, Im new here and was wondering if you would recommend a 1993 LS with 225k on it for 3.9? I think I can get down a bit, maybe 3k. The car drives great! looks good too! Im just a bit skeptical about buying a vehicle that has been to the moon, I however recognize the prestige of this auto and it's potential for much more motoring. Just wanted to ask the pros Sincerely, Pete
