  1. Can anyone comment on the NAV LCD screen of recent years' ES 350? Do they lose their sharpness after 2-3 years of use? Do the colors start to fade out? Do you notice any burn-in? Do you guys try to turn off the display whenever you're not using the NAV features to try to prolong the life of the LCD?
  2. I contacted my dealer about setting up an appointment to get the software updated to turn the engine off when the brake AND the gas pedals are depressed at the same time. I told him I only want the software update but NOT to have my gas pedal modified/reshaped nor do I want the floor thinned. He replied, "Please note that the pedal and carpet modification has to be done as part of the recall." So it looks like I do NOT have a choice. I can't opt out. :-( Anyone else got only the software update without the pedal and floor modification?
  3. Yeah, points of interest shows the closest airports by name.
  4. I haven't tried it out yet, but to save some time, I thought maybe those of you who know the answer can tell me. How do you enter an airport location into the NAV? Airports usually do not have any addresses per se. Does it understand the 3-letter airport code like IAD, LGA, and PHL?
  5. According to http://www.lexus.com/floormats (which directs you to http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/lexus/l...px?ncid=12040): "This system cuts engine power in case of simultaneous application of both the accelerator and brake pedals." I'd like someone who had the software update tell us if this is, in fact, working as advertized.
  6. Well, I'd like to know how you do it. Again, you're saying you could set the ECO light permanently off no matter whether you are driving economically or not.
  7. Hmm...I thought it tilts only if the mirror switch is set to the LEFT. Middle position is the off position.
  8. Yeah, can anyone confirm if we can opt out of having our 2010 ES 350 modified? I cannot see how the mat can interfere with the gas pedal. There is sooo much room between the bottom of the pedal and the top of the carpeted mat. Now, sure, if you stack up a bunch of mats you purchased from Walmart and you get into an accident because of it, then it's your problem. I would, however, like for them to apply the software fix where if my gas pedal is depressed AND my brake pedal is also depressed, then it cuts off engine power.
  9. >>> I hated that green econo light too. biggrin.gif I forgot exactly how I did it months ago but it's done on the steering wheel display button somehow when you get to the econo display in the window. Hopefully someone will reply. <<< I believe the ECO Light can only be turned off by the dealer--Page 514 of 2010 ES 350 Owner's Manual.
  10. I don't mind the fog light not being HID. I just want it to have the same hue as the head lamp. Are there fog light choices where the lamp is not HID, but has a bright white hue?
  11. Hmm...so you're saying we should NOT let the Lexus service people give my car a complimentary car wash when I bring the car in for service? You would think that they would have the proper rags and skill to clean the car without scratching or causing swirls. I think I will continue to bring my car in for a touchless wash, but everyone knows it doesn't really clean well--readily seen in the layer of dirt that still remains on the windshield where the wipers do not come into contact. On occasion, I would like to clean it myself outside my house. Is there a Car Wash 101 for do-it-yourself-ers that is guaranteed to produce showroom quality results?
  12. I noticed the other night that when the head lights and fog lights were both on, the head lights were bright white and the fog lights were yellowish white. I assume the bright white color of the head lights is due to the HID lamps. Is it possible to replace the fog lights with HID ones so as to have the same bright white hue?
  13. >>> they replaced the pedal and my 2 front thicker winter mats --with sleeker less ridged rubber mats --nicer ES logo in there.... so much snow and grit form the winter --saved me another job of cleaning them haha... <<< OK, now I am confused. I thought it was established in another thread that the OFFICIAL mats that come with the 2010 ES 350 are the charcoal colored carpet floormats, not rubber. How is it that they replaced your 2 front mats with "sleeker less ridged rubber mats"??? Carpet mat or rubber mat?? Which one is *the* official mat???
  14. Can drivers opt out from having their accelerator pedals reshaped and the floor reshaped as a consequence of this recall? Seems to me this issue only happens to very irresponsible and careless drivers who would stack up unsecured mats thus resulting in the stuck pedal scenario. I'd rather not have my brand new car have open-heart surgery to fix this when it isn't necessary if I can help it.
  15. Yeah, pretty disappointed with the carpet on the sides of the interior. Also, if you use your finger to push against it (such as the carpet on the SIDE of the gear-stick section), it actually gives--that is, there is a pocket of air underneath the carpet. The carpet is not snugly wrapped taut against the underlying structure. Anyone else noticed that? I want to know if it is just happening in my 2010 ES 350 or everyone else's as well.
  16. I called the Lexus Customer Experience number at 800-255-3987 and they advised that the carpet-like mats that I got for my new 2010 Lexus 350 are the "correct" ones and that the plastic ties were added only as a temporary precaution until further notice. But the point is that they are saying that *is* the mat I should be getting, so I don't know what you mean by "OE mats". I told them that the charcoal colored mats are totally wrong for the parchment/tan/beige interior. It should instead be a dark tan or dark brown color to complement the interior colors. They said they will check for me if an alternate color exists and will contact me early next week. I think, at the end, I will get rid of these tacky carpet-like mats and replace them with the all-weather mats. Our salesman told us the gray mats were the OEM mats meant for our parchment interior. He said that they were supposed to match the charcoal at the top of the dash. Despite the reasoning, they look terrible. We took them out ASAP and replaced with Weathertech tan mats. The color isn't perfect, but it's better than gray. Front mats fit o.k., the rears don't seem to have any relation to the space they're in. Despite this, we don't regret the decision, since new all-weather mats from Lexus are not available. Given the weather, we had no time to wait. What do you feel about the tan 'carpet' lining on the SIDES of the gear-stick section and by the door? To me it looks bad. They are coarse looking and somewhat creased in certain spots. It has a very coarse/sparse pile. I don't remember my old (traded-in) 2006 ES 330 looking that way.
  17. Use 2-3 words. I use three words and it works great. Example:Call Cindy Mobile. OK, you're right. I added Helen's last name to my iPhone and re-downloaded it to my 350's Nav system and it could recognize the name now.
  18. So if what I have aren't the "OE" mats, what do real "OE" maps look like for the 2010 Lexus ES 350? Can someone upload some pics?
  19. 20. I must say that while I love my new 2010 ES 350, the voice recognition for hands-free dialing sucks. I have downloaded my contact list from my iPhone to the system and most of the time, the system could not recognize what I say. I said, "Helen" even "Hell-Len" and it thought I want "Help". Have you guys found the voice recognition to be sub-par as well?
  21. I haven't read all the manuals that came with my 2010 ES 350, but for my previous 2006 ES 330, I remember the manual said something about NOT running the car on Idle to warm up the car, but to DRIVE IT to warm up the car instead. Same with the 2010 350, right?
  22. Pictures attached. As you can see, the material looks cheap. Shoe prints everywhere. Also, it is the same color no matter what the car's interior looks like. Ugly!
  23. Well, not mine, I am sure, since the yellow state inspection sticker on the windshield says November. So the car had to have been made before the end of 2009. So what I am not sure about is whether the floor mats that came with the car are the "CORRECT" and "OFFICIAL" floor mats for the 2010 ES 350. How can I find out?
  24. Ahah http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/29/t...3_n_303584.html When they eventually fix it, will we get complimentary floor mats since they gave me cheap carpet-like floor mats in my new 2010 ES 350?
