  1. thanks! I will check them out...I know katzkin wants a grand...gulp
  2. the one you are looking for is on the number one cylinder exhaust between the firewall and the engine
  3. thanks for getting back to me lexkid, well, i pretty much need two new seats...they were never cared for...I have never seen such bad seats!! I came to this forum simply because I have exhausted all my options other than just being patient and waiting for an opportunity like you discribed on ebay...however, I have done my share of looking...just cannot see any alternatives other than those fake synthetic leather seat covers... My buddy who has a 96sc300 found actual oem seat covers on ebay a few years ago, paid $300 for them, and reupholstered his seats himself...I can't be so lucky!
  4. IMHO? Thank you for your response, however. My budget is limited, I was looking for my options. Any suggestions?
  5. so, my es, like many others, has the badly ripped and faded front seats. I was thinking about getting these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...mMakeTrack=true anybody have a better suggestion? I live in the chicago area...and i am scared of the recovering costs at a shop.
  6. one more thing..the older es headlights are smoked...hence some of the yellow tint. JUST CLEAN THEM WITH RUBBING COMPOUND.
  7. agreed sw...nothing cheaper than some elbow grease
  8. go to download.com..and get zipreader it;s free
  9. just get a fine rubbing compound. and do what steve said....here in the states, 3M makes a good one. it's simple.
  10. try to get the price down....the dealer probably would have wholesaled the car if they thought it was not worth selling. I, however, bought a 96 es300 with 200 thou. on it for 1800....private party. I have had to do nothing but rear brakes, tires, seat covers, and a windshield....but other than that, i am very happy with it.
  11. Everyone is correct...I would doubt the coolant leaking into the car until I know where the heater core is....and you would smell coolant. Check your door seals and hinge welds. sometimes they come away from the car resulting in an insufficient seal for the door.
  12. you dont want to use solvent...just get emblem glue
  13. try lexol...cant beat it. For me, my 98 is doing the samething on the drive side. I put leather cleaner/cond on every 4 to 6 months. I have yet to see this not happen in a car or in my home. But I use CG (chemical guys) leather and cond. Smells nice and I like it.
  14. Thank you for your response. I plan on going to autozone asap...and I am anxious to see what is wrong with my car...she has 218,000 and counting on her. What do you recommend cleaning the EGR valve with? Thanks again!!
  15. My check engine light is on, so I took it to CarX to have it looked at. They wanted to charge me 50 bucks just to tell me what the problem is...I didn't agree to that...so I convinced them to read my car anyway....haha. I know I didn't get the full answer out of them...all he said was an EGR issue....and he needed to do more testing....Now, tell me if I am wrong, I know he knows exactally what is wrong with my car...a supposedly 10,000 dollar machine just tells him an egr issue? yea right... Heres my question, has anybody had experience with anything egr related on a 94-96 es?? I am looking for some possibilities into what it could be. I also want to know how to clean the valve out. My buddy has done it on a few cars..and it worked....I guess they get stuck every once and a while tripping the check engine light. Any help is appreciated....Happy New Year!!
  16. probably the relay that tells the starter to "start".... take a voltmeter to your battery....if lower than 12, charge or jump...once you have it running test battery again for around 13.4 volts....if you have a reading like that then your alternator is good. if not, probably an alternator.
  17. well, you do need struts, should be around 500 bucks in the front. Brakes are easy, they are all disk and can be bought at any parts store...or off line. there is two bolt that hold the pads onto the caliper, remove and replace!! Get the 94 repair manual from the "pinned" section.
  18. how can you tell if you have adjustable struts in a 96? i have a black cap but there is a bolt in the middle of it. the three nuts are connect through the fender of the car....do you have a pic of what each would look like?
  19. UPDATE__________________________ PUT NEW TIRES ON AND MY PULL AND SHIMMY ARE GONE!!! now, the noise when i hit a bump...im going to try to shoot some lube down there....how do I know if i have adjustable struts? / ? / /
  20. make sure all of your spark plug wires are connected, well, check all of your ignition system's components. you could have blown a valve..... did one of your engine mounts break? all possibilities, if I think of more, ill let you know.
  21. Zock, you are the best!!

  22. agreed, its like putting a spoiler on a front wheel drive vehicle.
  23. remember to use gloves or a rag when handling the bulbs....never touch them unless you want to replace them in a month or so.
