  1. are the pictures registered to this web site? I was going to use one as my wallpaper, but now I can't. What's up with that? that's like teasing a puppy with a treat to get out to the backyard and when he does , you give 'em NADA! :chairshot:
  2. damn winter BLUES!!!
  3. ah the elusive cabin filter... I too have heard about it but have no clue where the hell it is. It may be a myth. 8)
  4. congrats! and good luck!
  5. really- got pics? no drilling? what did you use to secure the sensors? where did you order the kit? thanks, g
  6. thanks for the advice!
  7. Hello, I have a 1998 es300 with the original battery. It's time to change it- any recommendations? :whistles: I just had my car in Hank Mays Goodyear Service center for emissions and an oil change. first time i ever paid 19.99 for an oil change! and they did a good job, even remembered to put oil back in the car! 8) Normally, i take it to the stealership-Lexus of Westport, CT-$55 per oil change for the past 4 years is enough. Besides, their service counter people talk down to you if you look younger than 30 :chairshot: .I hate them and will never go back ) Anyway, the wanted $99 for an interstate battery- I asked why- the guy said "I don't make up the prices." OK. For 100. i can get a sealed red top Optima battery. BUT, anyone else have other recommendations beside a Sears die hard? Thanks as always, g
  8. i've seen pics of es300's with them, but should I even try? I may have a great deal on a set and i'm a little bored of the stock 15 's! :whistles:
  9. wear long sleeves and mechanic's gloves. steviej ← Yeah- I hate that exhaust manifold. Whenever i got the car back from the stealership, I inoticed they always spilled oil under filter by the manifold. i thought they were clumsy or lazy, until I changed that filter myself. they were neither lazy or clumsy, I spilled some oil even after letting that thing drain for 2 hrs. It's tough in there!
  10. Visited the parents yesterday in NY. Had some time to burn so I decided to change the oil, and clean the K&N filter. Mind you, the car was always serviced at the dealer until yesterday. Piece of cake, easier then my acura and camaro. Jacked the car up- let the oil drain. Dad gave me a ride to the Auto parts store- picked up- purolators pure one oil filter- i think it was 8 dollars, 5 qts Mobil oil- 6-7dollars, working with Dad, just like the good old days- PRICELESS. Drove the car back to CT- the car drove nice! I'll never take the car back for a $55.00 oil change ever again. I'm looking into plugs and wires right now! p.s.- this forum and it's members are the best on the web. honestly, i've checked. :D
  11. FANTASTIC MODS! You are talented , dude. NOW , more detailed info on the Nav please!
  12. sweet- thanks!
  13. I want to hand torque my lugs tomorrow- anyone know the specs? I appreciate it as always! g
  14. from midas.com- "Midas Brake Parts Midas Plus™ brake replacement parts are designed to meet- and in many cases exceed- the performance of the equipment that originally came with your car. Vehicle Specific Design (VSD™) makes them fit better, stop faster and last longer than any other replacement pads. And, they're quieter, too. Thanks to our rigorous quality standards and unmatched installation skills, your brakes will perform as well as the originals- or better! "
  15. I agree- Wax as U Dry actually works.
  16. well- i'm getting my front rotors and pads replaced friday AM. they said the pads are the only thing with the lifetime warranty and will be replaced + labor. I hate my stealership Lexus Of WESTPORT, CT, I cancelled my pebboys appointment cause they gave me a service rep who was an A$$hole to deal with. All i asked was that the lugs be hand torqued..."why? got custom rims?", and started mouthing off. They lost a customer for life because of that one dumb A$$. I callesd Midas which is 2 minutes from my house. Peb boys wanted 296 + tax, Toyota wanted 520, lexus wanted 570. Midas quoted me for 311. No prob. I'll watch over them like a hawk.
  17. Very little prep- as I try to keep the paint clean to make future washes and waxes easier and less time consuming. I do the basics for prep work ... clay and Meguiar`s Scratch X. I washed it with Kitt Wash with Carnauba Wax- great soap. and then spot checked any area that needed more care (clay, scratch x) then applied the Nanowax. I've been doing this for a while, and I have to admit this is the easiest wax session ever. Wash and Nono- that's it. Takes me about 1/2 - 2 hrs from start to finish. As a matter of fact- thanks to some free time, this was the second day in a row that I waxed it. We may have to go every day this week. It's like my therapy session. LOL. It will definitely need it on Friday, my car goes in for a brake service. They always leave finger prints all over the car after serveice. ALWAys!
  18. I will- I tried Meguiar`s NXT Generation Tech Wax and was not impressed- it doesn't remove the fine scratches that Nanowax did.
  19. This stuff is awesome-> nano1 nano2 nano3
  20. weird- toyota wanted 50 bucks less than lexus. Pepboys wanted $296 for new rotors and pads
  21. XESPUM - you got lucky- most of these service "reps" are clowns, and let's not go into "techs". They did nice work chipping around the lugs on my rims after installing new tires.
  22. I bought one on ebay 2 years ago for like 50 bucks I think. IMHO, I think it works. It's not TRD, but it's not cheap either. The es is not sport tuned, so every little trick helps. I don't dive in to turns at fast speed or turn quickly. I think it's just piece of mind that the strut bar ties and somewhat strengthens the front end. I think it's better than nothing. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
  23. pads and install new rotors- I know, i hate this. mburnickas- did you install in your drive way?
  24. just called another lexus dealer and they want $560 for the work. $270.00 if they just cut the rotors and not replace them.
  25. really- hmmmm. Toyota just quoted me $512. with new rotors and pads. I don't know. I don't drive aggressively, but I do take brakes very seriously. I thought brembo's were ok, and I heard the stock pads are good for my application- I'm dizzy...any help would be great. this forum is the best!
