i have a 99 gs and i was wondering if there is anything to adjust the cold idle rpm on this car. it idles reallly high when the car is cold about 1500-1600 rpm thanx

yea if u could do that then i guess i will ask them to but they never mentioned anything about that or that it could be done but i will take your advice and go back, thank u

u only need 3 wires because the rest are coils and yea u definitely need a tuneup at 100k miles, get some ngk plugs and ull be good.

oh i even took the car in to the dealer to have it looked at all they said was they could not find anything wrong with it but if it went to about 2000 rpm then i should bring it back but i did clean the throttle body and that actually made it a lil bit worse there was some gunk build up i cleaned that and it made it idle even higher for even longer

you need to replace your plugs all you have to do is remove the throttle body and u can get to all of the spark plugs easily. if you have never done them its about that time

I HAVE A 99 GS AND I WANT TO REMOVE THE CATALYC CONVERTERS, IS THERE A WAY I CAN JUST PUT RESONATORS IN THEYRE PLACE AND WILL THIS REALLY MAKE THE SOUND LOUDER OR ANNOYING COMPARED TO STOCK THANX IN ADVANCE

IT LOOKS LIKE A BUCKET OF BOLTS BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE U HIT A TRAIN WITH THE POOR THING "NOT THE CARS FAULT"

I HAVE A 99 GS THAT IDLES ABOUT 1500 RPM WHEN STARTING IT OFF IN THE MORNING OR AFTER RESTING FOR A FEW HOURS. THIS LASTS FOR ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES THEN IT REGULATES ITSELF. DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE OR DOES YOUR IDLE GO STRAIGHT TO WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE RIGHT AWAY??? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANXXX

hey carbon where did u purchase these parts from and does ur car soung loud or annoying without the cats???

my cat went on my 98 gs and i drove with it like that for 50k miles i dont understand what the problem is screw payin 3 grand

thats a great deal man but make sure you ask them if they ever replaced the timing belt on it because thats an expensive belt to replace. other than that check if the breaks need to be worked on and if the wheel bearings are fine or make noise other than that these cars are tanks. good luck.

Do any check engine lights come on or anything? How does the car run after a while? Does the idle balance out after a while, or does it constantly run high? There is a warm up period where the ECU (engine computer unit) raises the Idle until the motor reaches a certain temperature... hey jibby the car is a 99 i got 2 of them and they both idle at about 1600 rpm for like 3 minutes everytime u leave the car off for a few hours. i had a 98 that never did this it regulated itself right away as soon as u started it no matter what the weather outside. this did not happen when i took the throttle body apart but it has been doing it since i bought the car. i really dont know i mean i understand the warming up part but not for 3 like 3 minutes reving at 1600 kinda weird i dunt know but i think i will need to take it in to the dealer, funny thing is no check engine light and we pluged it in at my local mechanics shop and there was no codes for anything being wrong...

thank you appreciate ittttt well i tried everything even the mechanic said he could not find why the car was idling real high for a few minutes when startin in the morning. im all out of ideas does anyone experience this same problem its drivin me insane nobody can figure out whats wrong and why it idles so high on the first start after a few hrs of being shut off????

i have 2 99 gs 300's and they both have an idle problem. in the morning they rev real high and while driving they drop to about 400 rpm also. i went to my local mechanic and they also said the tps or the throttle positionint sensor is either bad or dirty so get that checked out. and as far as vibrating depends on what speed mine was doing it at high speed and all i had to do was balance my tires. good luck

no only the 400s come stock with hids the 300's didnt start until i believe 02 or 03,

well my smart !Removed! today decided to clean my throttle body and so i did. i took the intake assembly apart then all the hoses then all the bolts holding the throttle body in place and i removed the throttle body. while i was removing it i guess i spilled some engine coolant on top of the sparg plug wire and the sparg plug itself. after i cleand all the gunk from the throttle body i put everything back together without knowing and the car was idling at 2000rpm which surprised me i thought it was going to run perfect. i took it apart again cleaned all the spark plugs but it runs rough now and the idle needle keeps moving up and down. does anyone have any ideas whay my stupid !Removed! did to this car????? any suggestions would greatly help. thankxxxx

try lubricating the throttle and foot pedal. Could be sticking when you last turn off the engine. Try tapping the foot pedal before you start the car to see if it does the same thing. Throttle may be sticking just enough that when the engine starts, the vibration kicks it back to idleing position. thank you i will try that
