It suffices to say this is not the "Pursuit of Perfection" as it was claimed. 204 hp is a lot if a car is really equpped with a 204 hp you'd feel it. Peak? You would not get 204 even if you rev the engine up to 7k rpm. I may sound odd to you but still entitled to say my opinion and I am always against fraud. As long as you understand your opinion is wrong. The car has 204 crank hp. If it didn't, there'd have been lawsuits. See also when Mazda had to buy back peoples RX-8s because they lied about horsepower, other companies have been through the same. The butt dyno is a reliably horrible way to know the actual power of a car. An -actual- dyno tends to work better.

God I wish they'd take that page down. That's the japanese part. Nobody has ever gotten it to work on a US 2IS. They don't even sell the part (hence the discontinued bit)

Honestly, the top tier thing is a marketing gimmick. -all- gasoline sold in the US is required to meet a set of minimum standards that insures it won't mess your car up. Is it $500 for parts -and- install? You can install it yourself, pretty easily, for free...and it's around $300 for parts I believe. Do a search for the DIY directions, it's not difficult at all

EPA regulations have required recent models cars to use much softer paint. This is why many put a clear bra on their IS

The toyota one sucks though- the engine cuts outs when you open the door and then you have to restart the car. But yeah, no lexus remote start (in the US market anyway)- there's probably aftermarket solutions, but they'll likely require you leave a key fob in the car all the time, which is perhaps not the best idea.

Yeah, stand outside the car, it's pretty obvious. Every single 2IS will have it. It's the sound of the direct injectors. 100% normal.

Err... it's not a problem. It's the direct injection system. It -is- supposed to do that. As more and more cars begin using advanced DI technology you'll hear that same noise on more and more new cars. You might be thinking of the startup rattle that some cars had, which isn't a noise at idle.

Only way to be sure is to go drive it yourself... if it's close you -can- special order a car with x-package and no sunroof, which'd give you anohter couple inches, but might not be the option package you're looking for.

It's the fact that Toyota/Lexus simply doesn't consider special orders in their design philosophy. It's been hard to special order a toyota since before Lexus existed. The entire process, in their mind, is they build the configurations they think everyone will want, and then poople buy them, ideally just as they arrive on lots. This is why the vehicles in one region all tend to come with one or a couple of specific sets of options. BTW, a special order really shouldn't take more than 2.5-3.5 months even from Lexus...mine didn't.

Those are just the normal stock 18" ISx50 rims Note- they are staggered (18x8 front, 18x8.5 rear)- if you have AWD you'll want to insure you use tires that produce the same total rolling diameter front and back.

That doesn't really work though, because none of those things are available as standalone options They're parts of the sports package, but so are half a dozen other things that come in the lux package as well (the HIDs with AFS, rain sensing wipers, heated/cooled seats, memory system, auto dim/tilt mirrors, etc)

I'm unsure the "real" LSD (if it exists) is available by itself... since I've never heard of anyone upgrade theirs (and no US cars get it so it'd be a nice upgrade for them) The sport pedals are fairly cheap, hundred or two bucks... Sport suspension I dunno anyone who has bought the parts after the fact since they usually just buy aftermarket at that point Probably sewell lexus or one of the other dealers that sells to forum members at a discount could give you part #s and pricing on all that stuff though if you need it... But if you have in writing that you get all that stuff you wouldn't care about the cost, dealership would need to eat that :)

There's several aftermarket Bt solutions- I suspect the dealer is just selling one of them The portable nav with BT if you'd ever use nav gets my vote, and a nice handsfree BT headset otherwise

The sports suspension is .5 inches lower in the front than the normal suspension, that's the easy way to check it But I'd bet money your dealer was just a misinformed idiot and you won't get the things you think you will. Regarding the LSD- US spec cars don't have real LSDs, they have sorta-LSDs. I've heard rumors canadian sports package cars get "real" LSDs but haven't seen any proof personally... it's certainly possible though. There's ways to tell if a car has an LSD, but nothing easy to do without jacking the car up, especially when it would otherwise have a sorta-LSD.

Will it "run" on 87? Yes. Will it run -properly- on 87? no. What it will do is knock, which the computer will notice, so it will !Removed! the timing to prevent engine damage, reducing power and efficiency... two things the IS250 can't afford to lose a lot of.

The car doesn't have a true manual mode. Putting it in sport mode is really just putting a top gear limit on the car. It will still downshift as appropriate, but it won't upshift past whatever the max gear you selected was. Text doesn't scroll on the radio- it's a "safety" feature AFS (assuming you have the HIDs) will turn the left light up to 15 degrees during a left turn (right will stay straight) or the right one up to 5 degrees in a right turn (left will stay straight)

mine only had 7 since I skipped dealer prep, 35 would certainly be reasonable if it was driven from a dealership in the next town or something... any further away it would've been trucked though. It's certainly also possible yours was test driven a time or two by someone else before you bought it.
