The only cost effective way to own a vehicle in the United States is to find a dealer who would take you to dealer's auction, for a fee (around $200), like Manheim and help you pick out any new or used car you want, which will be at least $5,000 below any dealership's invoice. Enjoy the car for a year or two, once the auction price reaches the street price sell it and buy another. :whistles:

98 LS, Ah, that's music to my ears. But technically the VSC itself is not turned off right now even though the message and the dashboard light is on indicating that it is? Am I correct in that assessment?

My car battery was disconected overnight and consequently this morning my CHECK VSC light bulb was on. The battery had to be disconected and i expected to see this message. Does anyone know how to reprogram the computer without taking the car to the dealership? This is 99 LS. Thanks.

You should try it again, mine started to malfunction about two weeks ago. Last night I opened the hood and the struts held to my surprise. I've noticed that you need to warm up your engine for the struts to expand internally from heat.

Well i've tried tightening the bolts and they were rock solid. Now i'm trying to figure out if its the struts or the control arms. I don't know if its possible but can i switch the left strut to the right side and the right to the left to see if the noice switches?

UCF I will definitely try tightening the bolts tonight, the mechanic never bothered doing that. :chairshot: Also can you tell me what's typical life expectancy is for struts, control arms and ball joints on the LS.

Over the past month as it got really cold in New York, my front suspension began making clunking noses. My front right wheel makes a thumping noise when I pass smoothly over a hump, but when I suddenly fly into a pothole it make no sounds. The thumping sound comes on only when it’s a smooth pass or a dip. My left wheel is different story all together. I feel like there's something loose under there. When I make a turn in either direction I hear soft rapid clanking sound. Took the car to an import shop by my house, mechanic said it might be the struts. He told me since it's been below freezing in New York over the past couple of weeks some fluid in the struts doesn't get a change to warm up and consequently makes the noise. Is this accurate assessment of the problem? The car drive steady at any speed, I don't feel any vibration in the steering wheel either. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. By the way it’s a 99 ls with 104k miles on it.

I've had a problem with Bosch wipers, the smaller one on the passanger side was too high and was hitting the tip of my hood. Make sure this is not happening with your wippers.

Need some help, I can't find any good qualified Lexus mechanics in New York area. The only shop i know is on the 11th avenue but they charge too much and i have to leave my car there for atleast a day to do simply oil changes. Does anyone know any shops in either Manhattan, Queens or LI that are any good. I know this may seem like an advertisement to the administrators, but i could really use some insight. I drive a 99 LS and also thought off increasing size tire, however i have to warn you, my brother increased tire size on this infiniti. One day he was driving a long and hit a pot hole while making a right turn at 30/mph. :whistles: Since the tire was higher than recommended it left a nasty ding on the bottom of his right fender and peeled some paint. From this experience i don't recommend anyone every altering any factory wheels or tires. Potholes are extremely common in New York and if you don't look out for them you can really damage your supension and wheels. ;)

It absolutely does, last week we had our second snow storm in New York and i couldn't back up on to my driveway without turning off the traction.

Last week I draged raced against 540i in my 99 LS. Kicked his !Removed!. Truly the best power combination in this vehicle.
