  1. The one I'm referring to is a sketch on a piece of sticker stuck on the front end of internal side of the hood. To see it, open up the hood and if you're right at the centerline of the car it'll be over your right shoulder (this is for the 2006 250AWD). I'm not sure if this has somethng to do with control at all; i thought it may be used to vacuum something.

  2. The reason it was never an option is because the front and rear tires are different sizes when you go with the 18's.

Different size front/rear tires are not recommended on the AWD system.

You could however, run 18's on the AWD if they are the same size... which also allows you to rotate tires, which the OEM 18's cannot allow for.

    ================================================

Are you suggestting that there is no stability issues with the 18" on the the 250AWD?

  3. I wonder if the 18" wheels would compromise the car stability. Otherwise, why would they have installed the 17"?

Yeah, I was wondering about that. They didn't even make it as an option. There's probably a reason...

So, I'm deciding if I should go w/ the stability or the look. :D

If you have no intention to drive it on a snowy roads the stability issue would not be that paramount.

  4. i have a 07 IS350 and when i have the backup camera initiated, in the top left hand corner, there is a pyramid shaped black area, very very tiny. is this normal? although it doesnt impede the camera vision and its very small, it still bothers me.

Did you clean the lense (on the trunk); if there is a little particle on it then it shows on the screen. Best way is to blow some air on it or gently wipe it with a dry rug.

  5. V-Power is the Shell prem gasoline and it's different from other prem gas because it contains up to 10 ethanol. Based on my experience using it and using other prem gasoline, it seems it got less power output than other ones. V-power avarages 18 GPM but other prem gas averages 22 GPM.

  6. "...They should care because they will slowly erode customer confidence and go down the toilet."

I agree with you. BUT they may use this as a ploy to let people think that all these flaws would be mitigated in the next gen and buy it. However, I myself would never ever consider something from a manufacturer that did not bother to fairly answer my questions.

  7. "......was inspected and found to be operating within Lexus specifications. We apologize that the vehicle has not met your expectation"

Their response rhymes with what my service manager told me __and I posted that sometimes ago__ "your expectations from this car are too high"

The direct meaning is "live with what you got"

I have had a terrible experience with those guys from Lexus USA where the rep girl never phoned me back as she promised even after leaving her a couple of messages.

Anyway, people are buying their cars so why should they care that much!

  8. I've never been to Montreal, but I've driven I75 from Chattanooga to Northern Ohio and back a couple of times, I drive on county mountain roads weekly, and my car has no rattles. I'm only here trying to help you guys find the problems with your cars. You all can take my advice or not, but you'll just have to do what it takes to find and fix the problems, whether it be from the dealer, a DIY, or a helpful friend.

When I got my IS300 back in 03, I found out it had a serious suspension noise. It was a used car with 13,000 miles. Lexus went over the suspension and said they tighened up parts in the front suspension. The car still had the noise so I started checking things out via the method I mentioned earlier. Within 30 minutes I had pinpointed the location of the noise, found it to be a loose sway bar mounting bracket, tightened that up, and drove the car rattle free for 2 more years until I purchased the IS350. Sometimes you just have to do it yourself.

I thought you mentioned Montreal in one of your prev. posts, I could be wrong.

Don't get that upset, your contribution to this forum is commendable .

  9. barkat,

you're in montreal so roads there are far better than here in houston so you don't know how much irritating to have noise from a brand new luxury vehichle. When i drive my IS on a well paved road i hear nothing but when i drive it on these bumpy roads I feel the car got no bolts or nuts at all.

  10. I got a kit from those @#$%Trim it's crap, in the pic it looks good but when you get them you realize right away that it's a joke. The problem is you can return them but there is 30% overstock charge; they guys who sell them are very crappy too.

I wonder how could people get away with such dishonestness?

There is nothing like factory stuff. and, Lexus is a good car to be contaminated with these fake plastics.
