Is wheel alignment covered under warranty?
-
So no-one has one in the IS?That surprises me.I'm talking about aftermarket starters as well.
This is issue has been discussed in this forum before. A friend of mine in Alberta, Canada who owns an IS told me that Lexus Canada offers one that costs CAD1,500.0. He himself did not install it. He says Lexus dealership says it took them 6 month to work this remote starter because of the car security system.
I don't think you'd like to go to Alberta to have one installed in your IS.

Greg_hi,
Click on the following link and open the PDF file the go to page 2. Ther you can see a pic of the Nav sytem screen. Click on Menue button, number 2 from left bottom.
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=3769
That will take you to next screen where the buttom "Suspend Guidance" is there
Click on the following link to see the Menu screen options.****on page 14****
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=3770
the "Suspend Guidance" is the top left button. Click on it and it'll display a message for several seconds then it says--in Jap. of course--the guidance is suspended.
I recommend you download the English Manual from this site, color print it and I assume you can follow the pictures/illustrations.

it works either way in my IS250AWD

Hello everyone.I am new to this forum site.I just brought home my new 08 IS 250 AWD today. Before we left the dealer today we had the engine running while the salesman was showing us all the thing we needed to know about this car .It was and still is making a fairly loud ticking noise while idling. The salesman says its normal but I think it sound CHEAP.When showing off our new car to our family the ticking is the first thing they notice.Does anyone else have this problem or is it NOT A PROBLEM ?Thank in advance,Mike.

If you do search in this forum you will definetly find a thread on the topic; you may find how these people solved this problem.

I am in New Zealand and have imported a Japanese domestic market is350. It has a hard drive based sat nav package with japanese female voice prompts. Can anyone help in deleting these prompts or loading English commands ( it wontccept the NZ sat nav CD). Also I can't read the Japanese handbook and don't know how to integrate my mobile phone into the bluetooth functions. Buying a whole new system is very expensive and I would rather avoid it when I already have a reversing camera and Mark Levison stereo. However, I don't need Satellite Navigation.
================
I am afraid you have to purchase the whole Nav gadget, the drive as well as the DVD itself. I'd imagine the drive would not read English. The only people that may give you a real no-fee answer is the Japanese dealer you got your car from or may be Lexus Japan. Good luck.

What drives me cazrier is Lexus did not fix it in the newer models, I mean 07 and 08. So, this speaks volume.
The other day my dealer service manager loaned me an 08 RX Hybrid with 8k miles and it's backseat was rattling like 1945 USSR military truck.
I guess the new trend is you don't have to be perfect, sell, sell, sell. Another example is Microsoft. However, I wonder how could Lexus make money from this IS if in 4 year-while the car under warranty has to be in service once a month?
-
Thx guys for ur time, but when I asked lexus if the setup was safe, they're saying that the tires will be too close to the wheel well and ball joint. .
=======================
I was told the same thing by my service manager; however, I think he's wrong. There is enough room for the extra inch. Just did not do it because I'm not going to spend any extra penny on this vehicle.

A dyno shows horsepower at the wheels of the vehicle. (technically it measures torque at the wheels, then calculates horsepower from that)
A car manufacturer advertises horsepower at the -engine- of the vehicle.
There is typically a loss of anywhere in the 15-20% range between the engine and the wheels due to drivetrain losses.

Thanks for the explaination.
My cousin has Nissan Rogue (167 hp) and I drove a lot to compare it with my IS-although the Rogue has much more milage in it- and it was clear that it has more power and much faster than my IS.

A dyno graph of the mazzuri headers on a 250 is here:
http://my.is/forums/f167/is250-350-headers...oup-buy-350501/
=====================
This Dyno exposes Lexus as it claims the IS250 produces 204hp @6500RPM but the Dyno shows the base produces 170 hp @6500.
I'm not sure how Lexus justifies it or defend itself should a legal action is been taken?
Any comments?
Thanks in advance.

papaclaus:
what kind of problems you've with your IS?
-
IS THERE ANYONE ELSE THAT OWNS A LEMON. AND LEXUS DOESNT CARE. THEY ARE UNDERSTAFFED AND THE ONE THAT IS THERE DOESNT CARE OR KNOW WHAT SHE IS DOING. MAYBE AFTER THREE MONTHS AND LEXUS LOSING A CAR I MIGHT GAT ANOTHER ONE. HOWEVER, IF YOU WOULD LIKE PURCHASE IT YOU CAN.
-
5 to 7 % or 7 to 10%, it still in the statiscal/analytical instrument error range which is 6 to 10%. So, gain may ===or may not== be zero.
-
Is the gain acheivable at 5200RPM? if you're going to drive at 3000RPM would you gain something and how much the gain would be?
-
How about painting what the car currently has with your favorite color. Provided you do it, like cleaning, sanding and using metalic paint/spray?
-
click on the folloing link and open the file, you need Adobe Acrobat or Reader, go to page 280 and you'll see how to do it yourself....That's if you don't have the Nav System Owner's Manual

Do anyone knows how to change Miles to Kilometers and F to C?thanx 4 your answers... ;]
This is how I would change miles to kilometers on my RX 330 2005 model navigation unit:
Menu
Setup
Distance: change from miles to kilometers
Touch OK
Maybe this will work for your car...sorry I have no idea how force the reading to change from F to C.
Unofortunately, this option/feature does not exist --at least--in my IS 250
-
post a link, i don't think your imaginary gadget exists.., otherwise stop shouting..
I'll NOT post the link unless you change your attitude. :o
-
Try to do search through this forum and read about your IS issues. You're not alone. Try to work with your service manager--hopefully they're good and competent.

It's a drive for nav DVD. Then you've a player (NOT HD) for playing media (DVD/CD or just CD).
May be in Japan they've different thing. The good thing is that you can play MP3 and WMA so you one CD can store 100 songs 70 MB each
-
There is no hard drive in the IS.
None of the US market ISx50's have the HDD.
However the JDM version of the IS has a 30G HDD but we are not talking about the Japanese market here.
Regards,
The HD is only for the Nav. you're not using to store or play music.

Would the brake dust TSB solve the sensitivity of the brakes?
I don't think it solves but just improves it.
Anyone Removed Their Paddle Shifters?

Here is what one of my colleagues(he owns IS250) said about these shifters:
"They are as useless as the Lexus statment that IS stands for Intelligent Sport or IS250AWD ouput is 204 hp or they compete with BMW."
You may find a number of previous posts on these shifters.
