  1. 07 AWD. Anyone have any door panel noise. We have lubed the seals..no difference. Also checked the obvious...seatbeat on B pillar, glove box, seat. Anyone else have this albeit...slight... noise coming from the passenger door(s)?

Got same problem for almost 2 years, dealership claims no problem but it's very obvious to me and others who drive this car!

I have another rattling noise coming from driver side door, my service manager said worked on it several times but the problem still there.

I'm not sure if these two issues will ever be solved.

  2.

    You are kidding right?

You are planning a 6000 mile trip in a car that is of questionable integrity?

That is kind of like asking opinions on what shoes to buy and then, at the last minute, springing the info that you don't actually have feet.

Statement of the Obvious: If you are planning what may be a beautiful, but very long and possibly challenging and even dangerous trip, your car should be in tip-top condition.

Billy, the car will be serviced before take off.

  3. As much as I love driving my IS, I would get a rental for a trip like this. Get the insurance and drive it like you just don't care. :) Park it next to tourists, and trucks at the rest areas and admire the nice white line of road salt that has banacled the car. Eat and drink in it, and toss the bags on the back seat. I cringe thinking about doing that in my car!

Smooth1, you're right but if you want to have at least one adventure in your life.

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm planning to drive my IS250AWD to Canada to have some picnic and skiing in Banff/Alberta.

What do you advise me to do and what shall I take with me, what kind of car preparation have to do? Advices shall be related to the car not skiing or whatsoever.

    Thank you.

  5. I had no problem finding the FUSE BOX but could not pull out the burnt fuse, did not want to use a screwdriver to pop it out.

    Any help from the gurus?

    Thanks,

    ============================================

I had the same problem. The fuse box is in the car on the passenger side under the glove box by your feet. Lay on your back and you will be able to see it. It is about 3" X 2", white with all the fuse info on the cover. Pop the cover and you will be able to read it better. Hard to read on your back. It is a 15 amp mini blade fuse. Check out Kragen Auto Parts and take it with you. They would have sold me the larger mini blade if I did not have it with me. Good Luck!!

Thanks, finally found it with your help... That this is way in there

  6. It depends on the dealer. As per Lexus they have to provide a loaner for warranty work of 8 hours or more. Most dealers do provide loaners for everything, some offer small fee loaners. They don't have to though.

If you have an issue with it take your business elsewhere, but they don't HAVE to give you a loaner.

What have been said above is all correct; the warranty states it clear and I consider this is unacceptable. The salesman gave me a totally different story. He said anytime bring your car in for service leave it over there in front of the door with the key inside, come in to the lounge set back and relax until service people come to talk with you. Then get a loaner car, same model or better drive away and you'll get a call when your car is ready. When the service is finished a thorough and neat car was will be serviced.

Now I did not read the service warranty before I purchased the car. This is a flat blackmail. It should not be the dealership call to give me a loaner or not. What if I live in a remote town that has no access to many dealers except one that is a jerk?

When you call Corporate Lexus they tell you we apologize but, but...and they try to resolve the issue for the time being.

  7. He thinks that my car can be fixed in less that or about 8 hours so I should not get a loaner, is that correct? What are the conditions for getting a loaner? This just weird and inapproperiate specially if I have to drive two hours to the dealership to leave the my car ther and drive back to work then drive back to the dealership, total 6 hrs which means a whole day!

Did anyone here experience such a pain?

  8. What if somone forget the FOB key in their breifcase and put the case in the trunk?

You eventually can't open the trunk without having the key in your pocket or hand.

Is this a plausible senario? What this the soloution if you're far from home....call Lexus road assistance?

  9. I really congratulate everyone who have problem-free Lexus. However, I can't blame my luck for having problems w/ this car. Nor, I blame all those who have simillar problems for having bad luck. Nor think of bad draw. I acn't blame the dealers either. It's all the manufacturer fault and inferior quality. I was really hoping to see Japanese and particularly Lexus compete with Europians. Lexus has let me and so many others down PERIOD. I changed three delerships. One of the dealers said, "we ca not fix design problems". Yes, some problems, such as A/C odor has been fixed by one of the dealers. However, rattling that could come up from any direction at any time is still there and I can not bear it, regardless it's loud or not, simply because I want what my money worth.

In response to those who think I exaggerate about other Lexus models, my answer is simple, I got my IS in Feb. 06 and every time I take it to a dealership for service they give me a loaner, I had ISs, ESs and RXs, the latest was RX 08 hybrid with 6K miles and had rattles too. My neighbor had LS and let me drove to prove that Lexus quality is worsening all over, it has rattles, too. The only models that I did not drive are the GSs &LFs.

So, again if your Lexus does not not have noises congrats, but please do not think others are dramatizing things or bashing Lexus. I can give Lexus engineers a very simple advice, go and learn from the engineer(s) who make Toyota Echo. I know they wouldn't want to learn from Hyundai.

Lastly, I have been trying my best to stop posting about this issue and will keep trying; but, sometimes my control system malfunctions.

  10. They did not find a fix to their car's rattleing/crackling, etc even after 3 years. There are not many who will buy again Lexus after having such experience. A couple of my colleagues were impressed by my IS look and wanted to buy IS but when they heard about these problems they changed their minds. This rattle and noise exist in all Lexus models.

  11. The A/C uses some of the engine power for sure just like if you put some weight in the car. It may not be significat though depending on your set temp and ambient temp and whether you chose to circulate or not. In winter specially in cold areas you use heat to warm the car and that's a load too. Best thing in summer is set your AC to the recirculation mode unless you smoke inside the car.

  12. I keep rereading your posts. You say you were misled? What into buying a 250 instead of a 350? I don't know what you thought 204 peak hp is supposed to feel like, ( that would be crank hp, not rear wheel.) The IS 250 I allways thought was the "gas miser" version and the 350 was the "sport" version. Where you just confused?

It suffices to say this is not the "Pursuit of Perfection" as it was claimed.

204 hp is a lot if a car is really equpped with a 204 hp you'd feel it. Peak? You would not get 204 even if you rev the engine up to 7k rpm. I may sound odd to you but still entitled to say my opinion and I am always against fraud.

Well, I don't think it's Lexus' fault that you don't understand the mechanical application of hp and torque. All manufacturers state horsepower created at the flywheel, or crank horsepower as it's called in the garage. As the motor produces hp, and sends it thru the torque converter, then thru the transmission, then down the drive shaft, thru the differential, and to the rear axles, the most usable horsepower and torque numbers are produced there. But typically you see a 15-20 % loss of hp from the crank to the rear wheels. Every dyno run and sheet I have seen on the IS 250 falls right into that. I think your expectations of a 2.5 liter is just not founded by any facts. The IS250 was marketed to look good, and get better gas mileage. The IS 250 does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, which by the way is .2 seconds faster than the Audi A4 Turbo!, and does the 1/4 mile in 15.8 seconds, which is tied with the A4 Turbo. While the A4 has a nice mid RPM pull once the turbo spools up, the IS 250 does have a very wide torque curve. Also, Never be overly concerned with the peak hp number. That number is only produced for about a second or 2 before you shift to the next gear, The bigger, more important number is the average hp number. And the weight of the car. Those are the better numbers to go by. And once you see that the IS 250 produces a 130 average hp ( which is the real everyday driving number, then you would have gotten a much better scale for the butt dyno to judge to). Let me break this down further. A 2 liter 4 cylinder engine, that produces 250 hp, a 3 liter V6 that produces 250 hp, and a 4 liter V8 that produces 250 hp. If they were all put in equal weighted vehicles, do you think they all would be equally fast? I'll give you the 2 liter, and I'll take the 4 liter, and we can go and race.

Edit*- I just found this: http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...28/pageNumber=2

Are you not getting these performance numbers?

Well, I don't think I need to do Dyno or any other theoretical tests; did you examine the tests conditions? Where in the world would you find these conditions? Why won't these guys think of reality rather than cosmetics and falsification of reality? You are happy with 64% efficiency (130hp/204hp). I drove other vehicles which their nominal output hp is less than what Lexus claim the IS250 has and they are more powerful and faster than the IS; I guess these car manufacturers are naive, they should prorate their hp by a 100/64 factor.

Speaking about the link you provided, here what they wrote at the end:

    Squeaks & Rattles

Other than the whining-gear sounds emanating from our car's manual transmission, this IS 250 was squeak and rattle free. They rated it 8/10. Is this right?

When these bogus things are to stop and we get real trustworthy assessments?

As I pointed out before, we're going down as far as quality concerned; not only in auto industry but in other industries, I gave an example from the software, where MS is going down year after year. There are some exceptions though.

Good luck and do not take it personal

  13. I keep rereading your posts. You say you were misled? What into buying a 250 instead of a 350? 14. The IS250 is powered by a 2.5-litre quad cam 24-valve V6 engine, which develops 153 kW at 6 400 r/min and 252 Nm of torque at 4 800 r/min.

The torque curve is very flat with virtually all its torque available from 2 000 r/min all the way to 6 000 r/min. The free-revving V6 is refined but when you are in need of a bit of "oomph" it is a bit flat.

    Good post bartkat.

Those journalists write but they never drove this IS for a month or two so their judgement is not to be relied upon (to say the least). The thing that I hate most is lying/misleading, I consider myself been mislead that this IS250 yields 204 hp at 6400 rpm. The car is 3700 pounds. It looks good from front and back; however, from the sides it is ugly. Poping, rattling, squeaking throw it out of any luxury car category. How could Lexus keep producing it for three consecutive years without fixing these consistent/persistent same problems? I don't care who makes my car, what I care about is performance quality. I am not sure what will be the conditions of this car at 60K miles? I am sorry if I sound aggressive but hope that you guys understand that our expectations were not met.
