  1. I bought mine with 75K. I have only drained and refilled the trans about 8 times now trying to get it clean. I did not take the pan off as I did this with my Tundra with 80K on It goes in a nice cherry red and come out a nice dark red. My temp gage is right set on top of the middle mark, it never moves. Im in SC and we have 105 deg days it never moves. Make sure you put the Toyota type IV fluid in your trans. BP
  2. see the following. It is an easy job. You should get an alignment. http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153536 BP
  3. Yeah I guess if your used to getting 35mpg then 25 is bad. I have a gs400 and get an average of 22-25 I drive mostly highway. When you fill up you need to watch out for something called gasohol, HESS and some of the cheaper gas stations use it. It will kill your mpg. This may be the phenomenon that your seeing!!! http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1E1-gasohol.html BP
  4. I have this one and like it. I bought it for my 00 Tundra. http://www.tekmatetools.com/order.html too bad it is on back order.. BP
  5. sounds like maybe it was underwater and one point in time.. BP

  8. About right That is odd.. I was justing paying attention to my speed / engine RPM this morning. At 80mph I am turning 2600RPM. I have a GS400 though, 98. BP
  9. Nice first post. Let us know if you get some answers. I am interested in doing this as well. BP
  10. No major difference. Mine where stuck and I had to use two small jacking bolts to get the rotor off the hub. I think they where between 8 and 10mm bolts. Good luck. BP
  11. Nice first post. If I had to bet you and I would bet seriously. That you are using the button that you press to allow the actuator to lock and unlock the doors. If you are doing that try the same sequence only use the manual lock from inside the car. It is the part that has the red strip on it above the let me out of the car handle. I had this same issue. My door lock actutor was bad... I can hook you up on a repair as well. Thanks, BP
  12. I normally get about 25 mpg with my 98 GS400 I do mostly highway at 75mph. I routinly get 325 out of a tank. I sometimes drive like a maniac and others like an old woman. BP
  13. Our cars the 2nd gen GS are known for having issues with the door lock actuators. The door panel is easy to remove take it of and see if the door ECU is getting wet. BTW welcome to the club of being on Lexus owner. BP 2000 GS3 with 140k here in South Carolina..... 3 weeks ago my passenger side door lock stopped working all together! Will not lock manually or with the keyless however window works fine. I am assuming that the connecting rod between the lock assmbly and lock button came disconnected. Whats the steps to pull off the door panel? Done it in the past to a few cars but the push pins are always a pain and normally break a few. Any suggestions? Is it worth buying a panel puller tool? Ever get to Columbia SC I could help you. should not take more than an hour a side. It is pretty easy. I would like to buy your bad actuators... maybe we could working something out. BP

  15. Ball joints maybe. If it is the exhaust pipe I would think you would have a leak or something annoying. BP
  16. Sounds like your immobilizer. Try a differnt key in the ignition. Try you valet key. this could get expensive if you do not have a master key that works. BP
  17. Nice pics. Your brave. I would never attempt to sand and paint my car. I know better I would never finish. B
  18. Welcome to lexus. Interesting first post. I think the saying is it cost to go fast. BP
  19. I had this problem but, it was after a four wheel brake job. I did not think it was because I overfilled it. i thought it was from replacing old pads. It was not much but was some. It only leaked for 1 day then I washed and it never leaked again. I did blead the brakes and just assumed that it was from the brake job not from the 40 pumps. Thanks for the great description very detailed. BP
  20. If you mash the gas will it rev up or still dies. Any codes set? I would say Fuel or the throttle body is clogged up. BP
  21. Tight budget, you mean if you keep both cars? I am confused. You went from a 99 to an 05 and your on a budget? Too bad your not in a Lexus any longer. Is that what you wanted? B
  22. See the following.. this is the drivers side but it should be the same http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289839
  23. Door lock actuators are very prone to failure. If the car is lowered you need to be carefull of the balljoints. Other than that I aggree I would only look for a GS400. BP
