  3. Hello! I noticed sounds coming from the front tires / suspension area when I didn't install the engine covers back. I have almost 123k miles on my 06 gs 300, rwd, and those sounds were a killer for a few weeks. I didn't realize that by removing those covers I would get such heightened noises. I thought it was the axle or shocks and ended up replacing the shocks for no reason!! ugggh! :( Anyways, as the guys above mentioned, I have heard lexus tech's say they have REPLACED customer cars due to the vent noises on 06 gs 300's because it was unbearable even after fixing it. Also, the fins for the bluetooth did not come standard or optional on 06 gs 300's, only on 07 gs350's & gs430's. Good luck!
  4. Hello! Check out: www.edmunds.com and www.intellichoice.com and www.fatwallet.com. Those 3 websites should give you a reasonable chance at seeing any rebates or customer cash back on those vehicles. Good Luck!
  5. Hello Zulu! I have roughly around 122,xxx miles (as of 3/26/2009). Here is some information that might help you: Hello! I have around 119,000 miles on my 06 gs 300, rwd, matador red with black interior with: nav, heated/ventilated seats, rear sunshade, sunroof, sirius. these are the problems i have encountered: (1) around 100k miles -- a short in my car is causing the low beams and parking lights to switch off. the lights mentioned turn off and i have to keep switching the light swtich on & off to turn them back on. these forums shed some light on the problem i am having: http://forums.theautomedia.com/local_links...67&catid=13 http://forums.theautomedia.com/showthread.php?t=1909 (2) around 80k miles, the rear sunshade refused to go up, the dealer told me there is a tsb (technical service bulletin) for it, but i'm beyond the mileage cap (4 yrs/50k miles). TSB INFO: BO006R-06 / MAY 07 / Body - Rear Power Sunshade Won't Open (3) around 75k miles, the idle would go below 500 rpm and the car would almost die. i hadn't done a fuel injection or throttle body cleaning so that can be one major reason for that to happen. (hearing from people it might have to do with the idle control). (4) around 65k miles, the battery died while the car was sitting inside the garage with the cd player on (about 55 degrees inside garage). (5) have had issues with the front defroster not working properly since i bought the car in september 2005. in bay area weather (california) the defroster was having problems clearing up the front glass, i used all sorts of combinations, and now it seems to be working fine. (6) even after lexus replaced the seat belts, they sometimes lock. both the driver and passenger. they had a tsb for it, however, i can't find the information for it. you can check with the lexus dealer on this and they can verify if its for your car. (7) sometimes the left remote mirror "freezes" and i have to adjust the view using my finger, I have had this problem occur (of it not moving when the left remote mirror control for adjustment is pressed) many times between 80k-105k miles. the problem has gone away and no longer occurs. (8) i have had my fuel injection / throttle body cleaning done at 121,000 miles, and my baby is purring. i used b/g products to do the cleaning thru the dealer. ($50 for parts, $150 for labor -- fremont california -- lexus). (9) navigation screen contrast doesn't seem to work properly. at around 80k miles i realized the contrast was getting darker and darker, thus i no longer use the screen (screen off) unless i really have to use it. after initial bootup, the navi seems very dark and i have to wait several moments before it gets lighter. not sure if this is a problem due to initially "booting up" the system. hope the information helps, please let me know if you need any more information!
  6. Hello, They have a courtesy service (as they call it) under the 50k mile cap. They (lexus tech's) hook up a handheld device and connect to the obd2 connector in the vehicle and shut off the drl's. I did it for my 06 gs 300, rwd, around the 25k mile mark. I wish they had a switch like they do in some toyota camry's that switches the drl's on & off. Hope that helps!
  7. Hello, just recently after hitting 118k miles on 06 gs 300 rwd -- with afs, i started experiencing the same flickering, as well as both hid's shuting off all together, until i use the switch to turn them back on - sometimes takes several times to come back on. I have read about the TSB that is supposed to be out there, but I don't see it. One solution that seems pretty evident is that the switch maybe faulty in our cars. I have noticed that when I put it on auto (light switch to auto), I hardly get that flicker or hid's shutting off, I am assuming thus that the short lies somewhere in the switch itself. I had the DRL's shut off around 20k miles, just an fyi. Regarding replacing bulbs, I found this on a website: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1q0wl-...t-2006-lexus-gs How do I replace headlight in a 2006 lexus gs 300, and what is the name of the replacement bulb REMOVAL HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side. 8. hi there! system too lean bank 1 sometimes means its an 02 sensor, which is highly possible in most japanese vehicles like lexus, toyota, honda, nissan, and acura. however, you should not go by just the obd 2 code "p0171", because it gives you a general idea of where the problem exists.... especially if you're using a generic code reader. if you're using a code reader for lexus, it may give you a more specific code. not knowing what you used and how many miles are on it, you could take this to the dealer and have it fixed under the maintanence warranty for emissions, since this could be an emissions related issue. good luck, Ali
  9. Oh Boy! I would suggest you contact the dealer on this one and ask to speak to the detailers at the dealership. they might be able to help you out by giving you the right advice on what to do next or perhaps look to see what they can do to remove any issues you might have on the seats. Sometimes, you can also contact the manufacturer of the polish and ask their help center to help resolve the problem you're having. good luck to you! Ali
  10. Hello! I have an 06 gs 300, rwd, i have always bought the oil filter and air filter from lexus and used mobil 1 - 5w-30 (non synthetic oil) and taken my car to a reliable shop where the mech's are experienced. My car doesn't require synthetic, however, if yours does, you can buy that oil from walmart and take it to a reliable place along with the proper filters from lexus. Hope that helps Ali
  11. Thanks to you and the others for your suggestions. I'll give it a try. I wouldn't suggest you try toothpaste, it might have an adverse affect on the "material" used in the display screen. I know toothpaste is used to remove or "sand down" windshields and mirrors, however, using toothpaste might diminish the area even further or put more scratches in its place. I would suggest you check with someone at lexus or even a detailer at lexus, bmw, or mercedes and find out if they can recommend any solutions to the problem. Regards, Ali
  12. Thanks to you and the others for your suggestions. I'll give it a try. sold in europe: http://www.micksgarage.ie/proddetails.aspx...E6-86A75E7BBC71 XERAPOL Scratch Remover - Remove scratches from acryl glass and plexiglas Remove scratches quickly and easily with Xerapol - perfect for Cars (Cockpit / lamps / wood trim), Motorbike screens, Caravan / Boat Windows, bathroom furniture and Acrylic glass furniture Objects made from acrylic glass tend to scratch very easily and this often makes them look shabby. This is a particular problem in acrylic glass parts in cars, motorbikes, caravans and mobile homes, boots, aircraft and furniture. Wood trim finishing in cars also gets scratched very quickly. XERAPOL offers an astonishingly simple solution for this widespread problem. This new special polish paste allows users to quickly and cheaply remove scratches themselves. The acrylic glass shines again as bright as new. With XERAPOL the material is lightly dissolved and polished with fine abrasive particles. The edges of the scratches are rounded off and the fissure bottom is filled in. This returns the surface to its former smooth and shining glory. XERAPOL Use: Clean the surface and apply a little paste. Using a soft, clean cotton cloth or pad polish the scratched areas using heavy pressure for 2-3 minutes. For deep scratches repeat application several times. Remove residue with a cloth. Very deep scratches should be treated beforehand with special abrasive paper (granularity: 1600) and a little water. Polish afterwards with XERAPOL. Do not use on any printed, varnished or coated surfaces
  13. 14. hello rich, i have a 2006 gs 300 rwd, thank God i never had the rattles and squeaks most people suffered thru, however, i have heard that some people got replacement vehicles early on because they (lexus) could not fix those "sound" problems. as some members pointed out here, you should look closely at the warranties as they do not cover squeaks and rattles, only problems, and even then most of them will not be fixed if they are based upon wear and tear. i work with a lot of used car dealers in california (northern) and some of them point out that the coverage they provide the customers on extended warranties is very minimal. so you should closely examine (with a fine tooth comb) the verbage used in warranties. if it were upto me, i wouldn't buy an extended warranty, based upon the high quality of products that toyota makes. check out consumer reports april 2009 for more info! good luck to you! Ali ps: forgot to mention, i have a post out there someplace that details the prob's i faced over the course of my 119k miles -- i currently have 122k miles, and going strong!
  15. hello folks, actually, $50 was cheap for the filter and it didn't break any budgets like a k&n intake would or will be, which reminds me, should i get an intake to power up the gs? i have read & heard that the intake will produce louder sounds (engine growl?? - i don't expect it to sound like a SRT-8 Dodge Challenger) - but i guess i would like to hear it growl a lil bit at the stoplights especially). the k&N air filter unexpectedly did give me a boost while accelerating from takeoff. this was also evident after i got my throttle body and fuel injection cleaning - first time at 119k miles ... YES, 119k miles! so maybe that explains why the k&n was so advantageous...since i never had throttle body or fuel injection cleaning done previously, the car lagged. but after the cleaning (used M.O.C) -- the car felt more spirited (we aint talking 425hp worth) ! thanks for the input Ali
  16. Hello! I bought a K&N air filter for $50 some dollars about a year ago from www.autoanything.com It came complete with a cleaning kit (which is pretty good deal). The first thing I noticed on my 06 gs300 (rwd) was that the hesitation when i pressed the gas at takeoff was gone! yah boyee! it felt good finally to hit the gas and the power to be there. However, I heard from a few people that leaving it in there for long periods of time can cause problems, thus i removed it. Gas mileage suffered a little, but i had more power for sure. I haven't used it since gas prices started going up, but will start re-using it now that gas prices are down. Regards, Ali
  17. Hello! Initially, I too had the same exact problem where I pressed the AM/Sat button and only the AM buttons would cycle, and then sat1/sat2/sat3 displayed but only played a total of 12 channels. I took it to lexus (6 months later) and found that it was never activated and the blonde in me (i have no blond streaks btw) thought it was due to the satellite signal not being good. Sirius is horrible! They put the black triangular receiver on the passenger side on the front glass of the vehicle. The connection is not solid and almost always loses signal whether its a clear sky or cloudy one. I found a lexus dealership with a coupon for installation, maybe your local lexus dealer can match or beat it. Regards, Ali Lexus XM Radio installed: $699 http://www.lexusofconcord.com/MiscPage_2?s...801213120752137 lexus of concord, california
  18. Hello! Regarding the recall for the fuel rails and such, I just received a notice stating that they will be replacing some "items" on my vehicle once the parts become available! Thanks for all the detailed information! The notification came from FREMONT LEXUS (fremont, ca). Regards, Ali ====
