  1. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=35898 post #6 - (also the whole thread) has balls - easy replacement - ~T~
  2. I understand your situation per filing a lawsuit and your client - but if you find out what the State Law is, as SW03ES sez - you can politely "point out the error of their ways" to the agent/claims adjuster without involving your client - some laws / companies actually MAKE you use real rather than generic parts, or they won't pay - not sure if it's a law or company policy - also - some states have a State Regulatory Agency for complaints with Insurance companies - the one time I used them, I was young and it was obvious that it was a rig job, but I have used other Stste Agencies since then and have had VERY good luck with them - the Insurance experience mighta been a fluke - anyway - there is usually a toll-free number - so - it's FREE - give it a shot - $1,100 is worth a few phone calls to ME - esp. since SOME insurance companies will go to great lengths ta avoid paying out - I'm with a good company now!! (State Farm - shameless plu!) ~T~
  3. ????? I'm holding the receipt in one hand - typing with other - it has the above #869526 - - BUT - the actual BAG sez - B95153 (then under bar code) 43645 72613 3 I am using the one's per Autozone's suggestion - I TRIED ta show how ta possibly save a few bucks - good luck - ~T~
  4. Tire Rack has something that you can use to see THEIR wheels & tires on most models - TireRack ~T~
  5. Follow up & GREAT NEWS!! These shocks come WITH the ball joints in a little pack - apparently that's why they're $5 more - To me, it's worth the time (mine is limited) PLUS I still have the originals to salvage at a later date when I have time or need'em!! results - NICE - they apparently are not as "strong" as the 95029's because I definitely needed the pair and it's not hard(stiff) to close - it opens about 90% of the way, then slows down/buffers the last coupla inches - PRO quicker & easier ta install less stiffness ta work out CON $5 each more - unless, as I mentioned, I told the guy that I went on line & a Forum had recommended the 95029's and that was what I had ordered, he heard "internet" and mighta thought I ordered from the AutoZone website & "it" had recommended the 95029. so when we looked at'em and the 95029's were actually longer than the Lexus, he checked his computer and it said use this model 869526, so after I waited the 3 days to get the first "incorrect" pair (95029) and then was gonna hafta wait another 2 days for the 869526, he didn't charge me the extra $10 - (as I said - HINT to da wise) ~T~
  6. hmmmm - sounds like a good LONG term solution - let us know if it works - ~T~
  7. I've read several threads going back to 2003 on replacement hood shocks for my '90 LS 400 - the consensus (and repair instructions) seem ta be go with the AutoZone Mighty Lift C95029 even tho the travel is shorter, therefore the hood won't open as far. I orderd a set. When I went to pick'em up - AutoZone was outta bizness -----j/k - seriously, the 95029's looked longer laying next to the Lexus shock. The clerk looked up on their computer and found the #869526 was listed. I ordered those, but told him to keep the others in so we can compare them. I noticed while typing this, that this new model only has a 3 month warranty, whereas everyone was talking about the 95029 having a lifetime - the 869526 also costs more - $25.99 vs. $19.99 - but he made an even swap - so - anyone have experience with this other model number? does the 95029 just 'look' longer, but under pressure, really have a shorter throw? if they work ok - I saved about $12 by ordering the "wrong" item (hint hint) thanx - ~T~
  8. hmmmmm - I'll ask one of the Toyota salesmen at the dealership I used ta work at if he knows - ~T~
  9. first I've heard it - I'm on 3 Lambo, a Ferrari, a Porsche, and several general car forums - might be posted somewhere on'em - musta missed it - ~T~
  10. VERY nice lookin' car - CONGRATULATIONS on BOTH the car AND graduating!! ~T~
  11. The Lexus ------------------------- A lady walked into a Lexus dealership just to browse. Suddenly, she spotted the most beautiful car that she had ever seen, and walked over to inspect it. As she bent forward to feel the fine leather upholstery, an unexpected little !Removed! escaped. Embarrassed, she anxiously looked around to see if anyone had noticed and hoped a sales person didn't pop up right now. But, as she turned back, there, standing next to her, was a salesman. With a pleasant smile he greeted her, "Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?" Trying to maintain an air of sophistication and acting as though nothing had happened, she smiled back and asked, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?" Still smiling pleasantly, he replied, "Madame, I'm very sorry to say that if you farted simply from touching it, you are going to sh*t when you hear the price." :P ~T~
  12. (bump) I too have the code 21 - haven't replaced anything yet, tho - just hadda buncha other things done (timing belt, water pump, rotors, etc...) & CEL is still on w/21 showing - also - "TRAC-OFF" stays on - I read in another post that it will stay on as long as CEL is on, possibly even if there is no trac prob - I'm DEFINITELY no mechanic, so sorry in advance if I worded this "stupid" - thanx for help/advice - ~T~
  13. sorry ta "hijack the hijack" (altho the info on the Benz is interesting) - but, back to the ORIGINAL topic of this thread -:whistles: I buy/sell/swap/barter/etc... cars as a hobby - usually older ones that need a lil work done - I fix'em'n'flip'em - this week I have: '90 Lexus LS 400 '86 Lamborghini Jalpa '84 Porsche 928 '83 " " '79 " " '87 " 944 '84 " " '86 " 924 '02 Toyota Corrolla '91 Chevy S-10 '86 Ford F-150 '8? Pontiac Fiero '86 Mercedes 300 this month I bought the LS400 - last month I bought 3 Porsche 944's & traded one off for mechanic work - the Corrola is a "flipper" - but my daughter is driving it (wrecked the other Corrolla she got from me last summer) - I'm gonna KEEP (??current palns anyway??) the Lexus as the family/bizness/long travel car. the Lambo, one Porsche 928 (sporty travel car), one P-944 (cheap sporty daily - 4 cyl.), & one truck (not sure which) - maybe the Fiero as it IS a fun lil scoot car. some of the "extra's" will be cash sales - some will be "barters" for paint jobs/etc... - some will probably traded for OTHER cars that will be ??? my fiancee' has a FourRunner & wants a VW Karmann-Ghia(sp?) - you'd think my yard looks like a CAR LOT - and it has at times - but between keeping a few w/FOR SALE signs here at work, a few at various mechanic's house's, etc... - it really doesn't look too bad anyway - everytime I say I'm gonna get rid of something and do get the numbers down, I'll run across some "deals" and... ~T~
  14. with all the cars I've owned (buying/swapping/bartering/etc... is a hobby) - I really don't do much MYSELF - I've learned to diagnose many prob's & know roughly what has ta be done - but I don't have the patience ta do it myself - I know a few guys who will do it in their spare time for $$ or ??? - my father & younger brother love messing with cars, but they don't flip'em like I do - they keep theirs forever - I know where ta put the ignition key - that's all I need ta know :chairshot: ~T~
  15. I've only driven my '90 for a coupla days, but agree - I'm mainly a sports car guy & try to keep a "family/biz" type car in the garage for that special occasion, but I think I'll be driving this baby more than the Porsches & am starting to look for a newer generation model to possibly trade up to - but - after I get thru fixing the other things on this one, I might just keep it - dunno - ???? ~T~
  16. As a "new " Lexus owner (old car - new to me), I loved the crash course in the history of the car line - I've been partial to German cars (primarily Porsche's - but a coupla MB's & a BMW convertible - all older but sharp cars) & from my name, an older "L" car - but after selling Toyota's as a "hobby" for about 6 months last year, I grew to appreciate the company as a whole even more - their quality, even in the 'lowly' Corolla, is outstanding!! thanx for the link!! and love this site - THANX to ALL who contribute!!!!!! ~T~
