  1. first, i am not an expert on this subject. i may be wrong. I think the sound you hear will tell more about about which part of suspension system goes bad. say if you hear sound with more treb, it may be produced by the metal ball joints like the ones in steering system. if the sound has more bass, it may be the rubber bushings if I were you, i would bring the car to a shop, getting them to thoroughly check your suspension system. some of the parts e.g. ball joints are not able to be checked for worn out without removing the connecting parts. for example, the front upper control arm ball point need to be removed from steering nuckle and flipped back and forth several times with a torque gauge (good specs for ls400 falls within 10-35 kg-cm according to lexus repair manual) removing things, checked and then replaced if needed, reinstalled if no need wont damage your car if done by a good engineer hope this helps
  2. I had all suspension bushings and ball joints replace/ repair yesterday in a local workshop. it took them 2 days to remove the parts, sent them to suspension repair shop for bushing replacement/ repair, then reassembled since the car still has almost all original bushings so the ride after the job is nicely different. I had terrible vibration from 80kmh and up before, very noisy over bad road condition. Now all seems gone away. the cost is amazing low to me, cost me all for only 200 bucks over. if I replaced all 4 upper control arms at 200 bucks per pair, it would cost me only 500 bucks something. This job is recommended for car experiencing bad handling, vibration, noisy.
  3. if you dont have access to a ball joint puller. the alternative way is to loosen the nut and hammer the axle carrier where the ball joint connects. I saw the engineer remove my ls400 front and rear ball joint that way yesterday when i had all suspension bushings and ball joints replaced. there was actually 1 ball joint that did not go out after many bangs, it got to be taken out by a puller. but anyway, its an alternative and wont damage your suspension
  4. i think its worth paying carfax 20 bucks for history assurance if you have investigated and chosen it by physical check

  11. my climate control LCD back lighting has suddenly gone yesterday. the whole panel is dark. Are there backlight bulbs to replace or I need to replace the LCD? btw, can I go out and buy a new LCD with that same size and No. of pins (45 pins)? is there a part No. of LCD available? from my very limited knowledge about electronics, LCD specs are normally refered to as number of characters and rows it can display, say 16x2 LCD meaning that LCD can display 2 lines with 16 characters in each line. does anybody know the specs of our climate control LCD? thanks
  12. thanks a lot guys for your time helping me, but what I need is the number refering to size of the bearing which is normally printed on the bearing itself. in Vietnam we cant buy parts with the part number but either giving the shop the exact bearing size coding or show them the bearing if someone has replaced hte bearing and still keep it, please do me a favor reading the code or best thing to post a pix with readable codes I am sorry if this request for help is too much online :-)

  24. it suddenly works again tonight as if it was never silent before :o potential future problem :(
  25. if it still retracked and went back to driving position before the disconnection, then the issue is likely in the adjustment switch. if it never moves before on key insert/ remove, then go find the issue in fuse
