  1. Don't damn Bridgestone. Try their Turanza with serenity ZR 235-50. I think it's a great touring tire.
  2. These are the items I changed. Iam pleased with these changes. Auto locking "on".Auto lock shift "off". I felt the other factory settings were OK. Hope this helps. Hal P.
  3. I assume you purchased from either Wilkie or Chester Springs. What options did you get with the auto? Contact me by email and we can discuss this. Hal P. Thanks for your reply. It was Wilkie. A friend says I would enjoy the Chester Springs dealership more due to much less crowding. Do you agree? Actually, by options I meant the "customization settings" at the rear of the "Owner's Manual Quick Guide," the ones that allow you to change how the fob is used, what unlocks when, etc. I was just wondering whether some of these alterations which they will only do gratis on this first visit are found to be popular among owners, and which some wish they hadn't changed from default. Any insights? Thanks!

  6. B) I agree fully. I've had a 1990 and a 1998 LS400. They differed very slightly in handling. The new 460 has much more road feel and is only slightly less in handling compared to my old 2006 BMW 530 station wagon. By the way, I'm an 81 year old great grandfather who loves to drive. Plamma
  7. My dealer has told me that the special oil the 460 uses will be billed at $9.77 per quart. This seems a bit steep to me. Can anyone give me some info regarding the price they have paid for an oil change?
  8. Bobby Rahal has serviced three cars of mine. I purchased my last LS460 from another dealer because Rahal had no car I wanted. However, I am going back to Rahal because this new dealer will charge me about $130 for an oil change while Rahal will perform the same service for $46. The service performed by Rahal has always been of high quality and I have always been pleased by their courtesy and promptness.
  9. I've had my LS460 for 13 months and I have been very satisfied. Lexus updated my NAV software and this new version eliminates the 'relatively' stupid chore of hitting the screen in order to get to the map display. My car has the standard radio and I finally decided to convert my IPOD songs to MP3 format and burned them onto CD-R discs. I am very satisfied with the ease of changing songs now. However, in Lexus' infinite wisdom, they decided that if the car is in motion, you cannot view the complete name of the song being played. Shades of the NAV problem! What can be done to get Lexus to understand that LS460 owners do have some brains? Plamma
  10. I also have the Bridgestone tires and had my dealer replace the wheels with the chromed oem wheels about two weeks after taking ownership of the LS460 in December 2006 . I check my tires religiously every month and have found no problem with air leakage in any tire. I have found that the internal pressure sensor is quite accurate (it agrees with my digital gauge within one pound). Might you schedule an appointment with the Bridgestone rep at your dealership and have them go over the problem. Good luck. Plamma
  11. <_< <_< My 460 starts off very UNsmoothly when I'm stopped at a signal light or stopped with the engine running for any reason. I was able to start smoothly when I put the transmission in the snow mode. When I notified my dealer of this condition ,he asked me to bring the auto in and he would reprogram the transmission. It seems that many other 460 owners were upset about this , and he has fixed the "problem" many times. Apparently , Lexus in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to put the transmission in neutral when the car is stopped for a period of time. I wonder how many droplets of gas this might save.
  12. All too often, I read negatives pertaining to the LS460, so I would like to bring up what I consider a very positive new feature ( among many others ). This auto has very good road feedback- almost as good as my BMW 530. My other two LS400 sedans had almost no feedback. Let's hear more about the pro's rather than the con's.
  13. I've had my 460 for six months now and I brought it in for the six months service last week. All was well and my wife and I had apleasant drive home. After arriving, I decided to change my driving position slightly ans moved my seat. I then pressed "set" and "1" and nothing occurred. Icalled my dealer after much fiddling and they picked the car up yesterday. LO and behold, they discovered they had not initialized the seating motors. I reaize now that I had never had to adjust the seating or the mirrors when I took possession of the car. The dealer has apologized for this "poor" make ready work and is delivering the 460 to me today. To all you good people out there, make certain that the windows, overhead sliding glass and seats operate properly prior to taking possession of your new auto. Plamma
  14. Flag ship @ 70K should be perfect. period. I've had my 460 up to 90MPH (only to pass ) and have heard no change in wind noise over that which I hear at 40 ( or so )MPH . Plamma
  15. I don't think I would bring any car into the body shop you mention. The only people who would drive my auto in a repair shop would be the mechs who work on the car ! My 460 has god stopping distances. Not as good as my 530IT Bimmer, but nonetheless pretty fair.
  16. Has anyone heard that Lexus is planning a kit to show the ipod music titles on the GPS screen?
  17. My dealer charged me $1800 which included balancing. At first he told me that I would have to give him the old standard wheels, but after the work had been completed , he gave me the original wheels. I guess that after the first snow storm, I will place an ad locally and attempt to sell the wheels. They are, of course, perfect. The new wheels look great on my red 460.
  18. My LS460 is three months old and I am basically happy with the car. This ,by the way, is my fourth Lexus. My others were a 1990 LS , a 1998 LS , and a 2002 RX300. The problem, if you can call it a problem is that going downhill with cruise control on ,the auto speeds up a few miles per hour. I assume that is because there is so little engine braking, At an indicated 70 MPH the engine turns 1700 RPM .Do I have to manually change gears to stop this or is there another solution that I have not thought of. To fill you all in, my other auto is a 2006 BMW wagon (to transport my Labradoodle). I'm also hoping that Lexus comes out with a kit so that I have an easier time with my Ipod . Had I known better, I would have gotten the Levinson radio. Thanks for reading. plamma
  19. I got the optional 18" wheels in January and I am most pleased . They go very well with my red LS460. Plamma
