  1. Greetings, On my ML sound system, I keep playing with the Surround Option. On some things it seems to improve, while others, it doesn't. I am just wondering what most other people do, set it and forget it? or change it. I did find that if I set it for a particular station or mode, it will keep the setting. Just curious, Hank
  2. From the manual: Oxygenates in gasoline Lexus allows the use of oxygenate blended gasoline where the oxygenate content is up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE. If you use gasohol in your Lexus, be sure that it has an octane rating no lower than 87. Lexus does not recommend the use of gasoline containing methanol. Thank you for quoting the manual, Now what I was asking for is real life experiences wrt milage, cost and performance. Best,
  3. do you have any news? im considering having mine updated too. Got it done, and all is well! No problems. Best, Hank
  4. Hey Tony. I've got the same option and it works great. How much are you asking for your LS? Is it still on e-bay? Are you serious about selling it? My old BMW's were junk. so I went the Lexus route, glad you like yours Let me know. cheers.
  5. Besides costing more in my area, what issues do other LS drivers have with the Ethanol mandate in their fuel tanks? Hank
  6. Hi Hank, I drive an LS600HL although i'm in London England. I think there are only 20 in the country from what the dealer tells me! I think your problem could be down to the Anti lock braking system warming up and struggling to cope with the 2.5 tons of steel (Heavier than a Bentley) that this beast weighs. I have found the brakes to be less than adequate on this car and need to use the tiptronic gearbox to help slow it down on most occasions. The flipside of this is that I did more than 60,000 before my brake pads needed changing and after 80,000 miles it is still using the original disks. Compared to my old LS430 it is a thing of wonder as that needed brake pads AND new disks every 10,000 miles. Greetings across the Pond! Good to communicate with another LS600 owner. My issue turned out to be a combination of the regenerative braking and a little bit of warpage which my dealer corrected. Have you had any other issues with your beast? Best, Hank It sounds like they fixed it for free? Yes they did. I've been doing business with this dealership for over 10 years and they've been good to me.

  8. Me? ... oh no ... I don't have one ... I meant you're likely the only 600h owner here on the board as they're very uncommon ... something like 20,000 world wide. OK, I misunderstood your reply. It is a rare beast, took me a long time to find it. Cheers,
  9. You mean there may be another 600h on this board? Anyway, congratulations on your purchase of a very fine ride ... as few & far between as they are. It is truely a great ride. How long have you had yours? How many miles do you have on it?
  10. It seems that the brakes on my LS600hL will pulsate when cold. It is very rhythmic and almost feels like its tied to an electrical circuit. When warm or slow driving, they are smooth. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks, Hank
  11. I've been trying to get my Nav system updated from 7/1 to 9.1, but my dealer is telling me that there is a system wide problem with the down load. Anyone else dealt with this issue? Thanks hank
  12. well that seemed to have fixed it. Too bad a rear air shock went out at 16,000 miles, good news warranty covered it. I guess that I'd be looking at four figures if it didn't peace, out,
  13. Well, I took it to my dealer and we went for a test drive. The diagnosis from the drive was a bad shock cylinder, I'm having it replaced this Friday. Sure hope that fixes it, it rides very harsh now with a clunky noise. Hank
  14. I think it might the volume of your security system beep when you lock/unlock your car.
  15. Hello, My high tech toy, LS600hL with the air suspension, sometime acts like the rear suspension is locked up or soemthing. I've tried all three setting on the rocker switch, but it seems to stay 'hard' and will make a thump when I go over a bump. Hase anyone else experienced this with their LS460L AWD? I thought that it might have common features. Thanks, Hank
  16. I too have the same problem with my LS600; my LS430 was great for head room and it had a sunroof. I asked the dealer if there was a kit or some other fix, but he didn't know of one. I'd be most appreciative if a solution was out there somewhere. Has anyone contacted Lexus of American yet? Hank
  17. When this occured to my 2004 430LS, it was the bulb. I was happy that the computer wasn't the problem. you can get a new bulb, or swap bulbs from side to side and se if the problem tracks, that is what I did. bets of luck, Hank
  18. just curious, what did you do? The 600 is one heck of a car...
  19. Sounds like a good price to me. I just bought one as you have descibed, but with 6,500 miles, very clean for $80,000. Be sure that you do a CarFax on the car! There was one that I looked at earlier in the Summer for something in the low $70s and 20,000+ miles, but it had been stolen, driven to NYC for a few months before it was recaptured and returned to Dallas. I choose not to mess with it. Good luck Hank
  20. Would the difference between Dunlops and the Michelins be true for AWDs as well? thanks and cheers Hank
  21. Sometimes, not always, at highway speed over 60 mph, I get wind noise from my window. If I open and close it, it sometimes gets better. Any ideas as to how to do a permanent fix? Thanks, Hank
