  1. Anyone? Too much work for a decal huh?
  2. 91LS400vgb I tried to PM you but it didn't go through. Please send me a PM w/ your e-mail address.
  3. Third in my series of giveaways this week: One (1) Lexus Owner's Club static window decal (10" x 2.5" w/ gold writing) I'm going to do this one a little differently this time to give more people a chance since not everyone can get to the Forum right after the thread is posted. I will randomly select a winner (out of a hat) from all of the correct answers that are returned by 6:00 PM EST. PLEASE SEND ME YOUR ANSWER VIA PM! If the answer gets posted in the thread then it defeats the purpose since everyone will be able to copy your answer and it will reduce your chances of winning overall. If you don't want/need the decal, let me know if the PM please so I can get it to someone that wants it. Thanks. - Brandon And now to the question.... Name the initial month & year of release in the US for the following models (not the dates they were debuted, but the dates they went on sale to the general public): Hint - they are all pre 2000. LS 400 ES 250 ES 300 GS 300 GS 400 SC 300 SC 400 RX 300 LX 450 ...stay tuned this Friday for giveaway number 4 - the best "prize" yet.
  4. Kewl - I just realized what you were refering to w/ the cleared tails. I would probably put a red bulb in place of a white one for the brake/tail light application if you can find one.
  5. Get A LED bulb for the interior dome. I think it's called a festoon shape. As far as I know - the only clear back lights are your reverse lights. You should have a white bulb in there so that you can see and that other people will know when you're in reverse.
  6. SK - From my experience I would say that he'll need the correct length shank. I tried the longer shank on my new wheels. What ended up happening is that the longer shank made contact w/ the hub and was tight to the hub, but it did not bring the wheel completely tight against the hub. There was a gap between the washer on the nut and the wheel (about 3 washer thicknesses). Had I installed all of the nuts on a wheel, the wheel would have been loose with some play in it.
  7. Shadow - they are yours! PM me w/ your e-mail address so I can contact you. Tom - I have at least one more giveaway for later in the week - maybe two.
  8. If you want to add something to the oil that will produce similar results, try AutoRx instead. It works completely differently. Seems to me like naptha would work good in the gas tank, but I wonder what it would do to your seals, etc on the oil side? You do know that Ronsonol lighter fluid (in the yellow plastic bottle) is made of Naptha??
  9. I am posting this here and not in the buy/sell forum as these will most likely only appeal to LS owners and they are not for sale - they're free. I have a set of 4 OEM Lexus solid center caps from a 1993 LS400. These are original Lexus issue chromed w/ the gold toned "L" logo on them. They are made of plastic and came off of an original set of 16x7 lexus rims. They are not perfect and have a couple of scratches on them from use over the last 13 years - but hey - they're free. I would think that they could be painted to match an alloy tone or w/ chrome spray to bring them back to life a little. If you are missing one or more or want a set for your winter wheels these should do the trick. I would prefer to send them all to one person, but if there is enough interest to split them up than I will do so. I'll provide the caps, but you'll have to pay for the shipping. USA & Canada only please. If you are in Southeast VA you can pick them up.
  10. I went w/ the OEM factory sized tire since the rims were the same size as factory. (I don't recall what that is off the top of my head, but I'll post it once I can take a look). The one thing that I found a little odd is that there is a center cap with the exposed lugs. Most wheels w/ exposed lugs don't have the large center cap, but have the lug holes molded into the rim w/ a smaller center cap (if any). I'm still pleased with the rims overall though.
  11. I had the same issue w/ the Bosch MicroEdge on my LS, but never on my ES. It's been raining heavily here all morning and the one ICON blade is performing extremely well and the MicroEdge is exhibiting it's old problems as usual. The true test will be in how well it holds up over time. FWIW - According to Bosch the ICON uses a different Rubber compound/treatment than the MicroEdge and: "The integrated wind spoiler design increases the down force on the blade edge at highway speeds, reducing blade chatter and wind noise." SW03ES - These look almost identical to the Valeos that are on my wife's VW, but the Bosch run @ $20 each vs. the $40 for the Valeos. I am getting full tension across the entire Driver's side (which is where the problem was previously w/ the other blades that I have tried). I can't say how it would perform on your ES though. Again - the initial results are good, but we'll see in the long run as that will be the true test.
  12. You should be able to replace them w/ something from your local hardware store - as long as you have one of the originals to match with.
  13. this "box" is usually within a couple of feet of the radio - normally hidden up under the dash somewhere. You don't have to open the radio, but you will need to have access to the rear of the radio so you can make the swap of the antenna cords. Here's what I am talking about: FM Modulator If you don't want to open the dash up then this won't work for you.
  14. Neither can I now. Imagestation is blocking it for some reason. I'll switch to my private hosting to see if that works As to your question: I had factory chrome wheels and I replaced them with these factory knockoffs. I am using the short shank nuts and I would assume that you would need to do the same based on the pic of the wheel you showed. I can't say for sure though. I bought the long shank version and had to return them. I am assuming that all Gen I in '93 & '94 are the same size (probably the same w/ most all Lexus/Toyota) Blake - try Capital Wheels. They are 16" x 7". I originally wanted the solid center cap, but because I opted for the fakes instead of the originals I couldn't get it to match. They also have the OEM ones in true alloy. Their prices are pretty good and I am very happy w/ the appearance and finish of the wheels (especially considering the price).
  15. As some of you may know - I had a cracked rim recently and opted for a replacement set since the old ones were in pretty bad shape overall (flaking chrome, etc.) I opted for some knockoffs that are almost identical to OEMs for Gen II. I think they offer a subtle updated look to the car overall. Here's a pic of what they look like: The car's dirty and so are the wheels so no comments there please.
  16. Yeah, I realized that after looking at the timeline again. I was thinking that 2007 is further out that it actually is. Man - where does the time go?
  17. I'll let you know. I'm picky w/ my blades too. I was considering going back to the stealership for some OEM blades, but I hate giving their parts dept money. The reason I went with that one is that I wasn't getting coverage w/ the MicroEdge nor w/ the other 2 aftermarkets that I tried so far. I think it's probably something to do w/ the path the arm travels in relation to the shape of the windshield as most aftermarkets have had the same problem for me. From what I can tell the Bosch look almost identical to the OEM ones on my Wife's Passat and hers have held up great.
  18. Yes - a little, but not as much as with an FM Transmitter. You will always losse some sound if you have anything but a direct connection. I know the new 3 has a direct iPod connection (in the glove box I think). I'm suprised your dad's 7 doesn't have one (or at least the option to have one installed. He bought the 7, why 1/2 a$$ it w/ a transmitter or tape adaptor? It's not actually "hardwired" you un plug your car's antenna cable from the back of the radio and plug it into the FM modularor box. This box has an antenna cable coming out of the other side that plugs into the back of the radio (so no modifications are made to the radio other than swapping antenna cables). Your iPod plugs into the modulator. The modulator intercepts the antenna signal, passes it through, and directly broadcasts the connected device on an unused frequency through the antenna connection of the car's radio. It is similar to the transmitter, but it's all directly wired with no over the air broadcasting involved.
  19. Forget 300 vs. 350 for a minute. Did you guys miss the LS900h That's equivalent to 9.0 Litres of displacement. That's huge!
  20. ...the automatic lowercase feature on thread titles?? If it type "LS 400" into the title box on a new thread it gets displayed as "Ls 400" on the post. Also the "group" icons don't seem to be working.
  21. According to BartKat's post in the general forum, Lexus plans to launch the LS900h in the fall of 2007. Does that 900 refer to an estimated 9.0L displacement of the gas/hybrid combo??? One could assume that's targeted at the SL 65? I couldn't imagine an LS with that much power & torque. Hope it's AWD to help keep it on the road.
  22. I just picked up a Bosch ICON wiper blade yesterday. I was running regular Bosch Microedge blades, but I was having problems with the far side of the driver's side wiper blade not making contact with the windshield on my Gen I. (So there was this annoying spot towards the passenger side that wasn't getting cleaned.) I have seen complaints about this from other members as well. Bosch has a new "aero" type blade out for the aftermarket that puts even pressure out on all parts of the blade (it uses an internal spring instead of the traditional arm). It is more aerodynamic in shape as well. I know that VW, Audi, & Mercedes have switched to this type of blade for their OEM use. I found a 22" for the driver's side, but I haven't been able to find a 16" for the passenger yet (at local stores). On Gen I cars the blade attachment has to be "modified" (cut) to work as the Bosch design won't fit on the Lexus arm out of the box. Gen I is not listed in the ICON fitment guide, but it will work if you buy them. Gen II from '95 + are listed. One warning though - they are about 2X the price of regular blades! I think that NAPA has their own brand that uses similar technology, but I've always had good luck w/ Bosch so I went w/ them.
  23. Toyota/Lexus make good filters. Personally I use Purolator Pur-One - I like the microfiltration.
  24. I don't think that PA allows any tint at all. Some states are rear only or various shades depending on the window. In VA you can have max 30% transmission on the rear and 50% on the front. I had 30% all around on my ES and was never pulled. I had to pay extra for it and sign a waiver to get it done. I plan on tinting my LS when it warms up a little and I'll do 30% all around again.
  25. I just replaced the lug nuts on my '93 as well. I picked some up from Manny, Moe, & Jack for $30 for 5 sets of 4 nuts (they didn't come in sets of 5 which you'll need). I opted for the non-locking type, but you can find aftermarket ones w/ locks. I think that you'll want 12mm x 1.5. You want the ones that have the washer on them and NOT the tapered style. Make sure you don't get the long shaft though or they won't secure the wheels properly. I made that mistake and had to return them.
