It's normally the white colored wire in the loom that passes under the trunk hinge that gives all the problems.

Stock speakers are 4 ohms but the sub woofer is 2 ohms, sorry cannot help with the other question.

The light coming on confirms you have a problem but at least now you can ask the car what the problem is by entering the diagnostic mode and reading the fault code(s).

Before replacing the black box have you checked the wiring loom in the trunk that goes under the left side (drivers) hinge as this is the common cause of many faults including yours, the wires in the loom break.

By fitting your unit it may have disturbed this loom and caused it to work again.

I have never heard of this unit failing before has it got water in it?

If you do need one I would try ebay for a parting out vehicle.

The Celsior was never exported to the US as it was a JDM model and therefore only RHD but they are present in the UK and Australia.

If you come over to www.lexusownersclub.co.uk there is an imports section which deals with the Celsior.

Does it seem to be missing on more than one cylinder? These cars have conventional distributors and rotor arms fitted ( two of each) and the coils are very reliable so I would start with the plugs/plug leads/dist caps/rotor arms.

It could be the fuel filter or many other things,is the engine check light on?

Also check all the vacuum pipes for leaks as these can cause a weak mixture.

Is the air filter clogged?

Yes you can do that.

All the ACV does is increase the power steering effect at low speeds and decrease it at higher cruising speeds so you get a better feel of the steering and road.

hi guys i recently bought a 1994 ls400.

my speedometer does not work. i was wondering what years fit the 1994 ls400(parts).

does it go 1990-1994 or just 1993-1994 for this specific part. thanks.

Hi and welcome to LOC sorry for the late reply been on vacation.

The instrument housing will need to be for a series 2 (1993-1994) LS400 as the 1990-1992 are different but before you replace it check the speedo pickup on the transmission as this may be the problem.

If it is the instrument pod there are many repairers who may be able to sort your own pod have a look on Ebay.

I have a known good one out of a 1994 unit, the pot is exactly the same but the PCB is different.

If you can solder/unsolder there are 5 terminals on the pot,unsolder the old one and replace with this one, I will remove the pot from this pcb and send it to you for the postage cost.

I will also send you some solder braid to remove your old one.

If you are not confident at soldering I would suggest getting a local TV repair shop to do it for you or you may damage the print.

From 1995 Lexus used OBDII diagnostics which requires a code reader being plugged in to read any fault codes present,this will then give you an idea of where the problem is,do you have any warning lights coming up?.

Also check the transmission fluid level ( details in handbook) to ensure it is correct and also check the colour of the fluid on the dipstick it should be cherry red.

As the problem is throttle related it could be the TPS but this normally gives general running problems at the same time.

If you can count the blink sequence of the trac light this gives the fault code.

Ok it was over a year ago but I purchased a set of replacement clear indicator units from Progrille and fitted them.

Over time the inner offside one has let water in and this has resulted in rusting of the reflector and discolouration of the lense.

I contacted the supplier Progrille and they are not prepared to do anything about it even when I offered to buy the single unit ( all the others are fine)

So please consider this when buying replacement units as I have now had to spend another $100.00 on another set ( these are the dark tint from another supplier)

I know these are not OEM quality units but would have expected a better response from Progrille.

I am a bit confused here are we refering to the fuel filter behind the rear wheel arch or the fuel purge canister located in the engine bay?

If all else fails the last resort and most destructive method is to cut thru the rotor from the outside edge towards the hub with a hacksaw, this will weaken the rotor to such an extent it should come off.

After 2 years I hope I have the answer the seats are protected by a cut out which is located on the fuse panel behind the drivers side kick panel.

Above the 3 rows of fuses are 3 cut outs it is the one bottom left of the 3 that you need to reset ( I dont know how but there is normally a button you press on it to reset) this cutout protects the supply to the theft deterrent system ( may be why the central locking fails to work) the power seats and the gas filler flap.

Try reseting the cutout but if it trips again you may have a fault causing it.

If it does reset ok it may have just randomly tripped and you have sorted the problem

According to the manual it is located "on the right front inner fender panel"

Sounds like the crankshaft pulley has come off followed by the serpentine belt, if the battery charge light is also on ( as the same belt turns the alternator) you may be better getting recovery back to the garage as the battery will go flat.

This is a very common fault and is caused by defective capacitors in the unit, a very cheap fix if you can do it yourself but if not there are many topics on this and people that do the repairs including places on Ebay.

Just type ls400 dash repairs into google.

The fuel pump supply is controlled by the fuel pump relay and has 2 outputs.

One supplies the fuel pump under cranking conditions and the other supplies it during engine running mode but is via a ballast resistor.

I would 1st check the supply voltage with the ignition on but not cranking the engine.

As you are getting some supply to the pump I would go for the fuel pump relay 1st ( easy to change, passenger side fuse/relay block) then check the ballast resistor.

I think it was parked on top of the pole but the guy forgot to leave it in park and put the parking brake on and it's fell off the top and slipped down the side.

There again I've always been a bit weary of valet parking! :whistles:
