  1. I changed the oil for the first time and I thought I could reach down and unscrew the oil filter without unscrewing the 20 or so screws that hold the under-engine plastic splashpan, and that the filter would be drained because the car had set for 24 hours, when I unscewed the filter it dumped oil onto the plastic splashpan, so I should have taken the time to remove it first, also the oil plug is a 14 mm.
  2. I know from exp. that there can be problems with the fuel filter threads which is located on the drivers side, in front of the rear wheel. With engine running in park, wheels chauked, parking brake on, check the lines going into the filter with a flashlight. Or if you want just turn the key on ,engine off.
  3. I had a 91 honda accord that did the same thing and quickly got worse, the problem was a fuel pump relay, the way the mech. fond it was to tape a fuel pressure gage to the winsheild and monitor the pressure, the problem was speratic.
  4. Everybody has their own opinion, and I am in the 40 something group but since your asking, I prefer the orig. and would spend the money on light weight exhaust.
  5. Another option would be to find a good exhaust shop that can get you a high-flow replacment ,such as a random technology.
  6. I stand corrected, I was refering only to the sc400. Back to the guys orig. question, of coarse a reason to be brake torquing is the purpose of heating the tires for more traction during a drag race. I am supposing you have a type of tire that would benefit from being heated.
  7. I have purchased a sheet of abs plastic and polypropelene to make a BFI on my 95 400 , if anyone knows of a better design than the BFI-3 , please let me know. :whistles:
  8. The manuver is refered to as brake tourquing, its the best way to produce tire smoke and tire squeeling. The higher you rev the engine and the longer you do it, the more parts you might break, always make sure the trac. cont. is switched off. p.s. we all have auto. trannies
  9. Super article on planetsoarer,Thanks ;)
  10. I was on the mods. forum and a guy suggested a BFI, Im guessing a big fat intake.
  11. If the LSD was an option does anyone know the option code and where it is?
  12. Just wanted to get some ideas on things that can be removed to lower the weight of the car for better off the line perf. Also does anyone know the price of a carbon fiber hood.
  13. Forgot to add, make sure you are checking fluid with engine running @ in park.
  14. I did my tranny fluid & filter change, it was a little challenging but if you have done a filter change before you can handle it. The dip stick tube is 2 peice so watch for that. The cabin air filter is aroud $45.00 and is on the pass. front kick panel, my filter was missing. Planet Soarer.com gives a detailed tutorial. :)
  15. I have the same year car same problem, havnt had a chance to check the fuses or switch but we should let each other know what we find. :)
  16. I am a starter and alt. rebuilder, you should never remove the battery cable when the car is running. When the picture of a battery comes on the dash it means you are having alt. problems. First make sure the plug in is secure in the rear of alt., and the p.s. is not leaking. If light comes on again the alt. is probably getting ready to go out. You can take if off the car and get bench tested if they have the proper test lead. The average life expectancy is 125,000 miles on the starter and alt. :)
  17. If it was me I would be looking for a smart mech. with the ability to fully scan a Lex.
  18. Thanks for responding I assume you have an sc300 instead ofsc399. ;)
  19. Once the stud goes up into the steering knuckle it should be held from turning and torque down.
  20. Im getting ready to change the rear diff. lube and wondered if any odd size tools are needed.
  21. i removed the plastic cover, the to wing nuts, and there is no filter inside, got one on order for 42.00 I have a 95 sc400.
  22. the european soarer has an air- cond. filter in cabin, does thge sc400?
  23. Does anyone know if the sc400 door hinge assembly is a sealed unit or will it help to soak it wiyh spray lube. Thanks
  24. I am wanting to detail my interior and am not sure if the door panels are leather or vinyl.
