  1. Make sure the mirror adjustment switch is positioned to "adjust" the drivers or passanger's mirror - make sure the switch is NOT in the center or NEUTRAL position. This should work. Also there is no mirror fold-in option (at least on the 06)... whadda ya think it is, a Benz S class? If all elese fails ... R.Y.D.M Mine has dipping mirrors, and they also fold at the press of a button on the door panel
  2. It holds it in lower gears longer in auto. If you flick it out of auto and shift using the paddles or stick you can hold it in gear longer than the ECT button and it really moves, but downside is you use more gas and increase the engine loading and consequent wear rate
  3. Shouldn't be any undue noise except perhaps for the high pressure fuel injection system which is quite a loud ticking noise when you have the hood open.
  4. It's OK, you only'bake' them at a temperature to melt the adhesive, not anything else :whistles: Take them apart and do the mods/spray the lenses them stick them back together with clear silicone or an adhesive similar to the OEM. Not only tail lights, can modify the fogs and mains too using the same method. Always advisable to try it on a spare if doing it for the first time...I've seen some pretty crap efforts, in particular an IS first gen with main headlights reassembled with white bathroom silicone sealant . :o
  5. No, it has to be in left or right mode. Positioning the switch in the middle renders it inoperative.
  6. My IS250 with the full luxury pack including ML has the folding mirrors that also dip in reverse. The fold button is on the door panel, nearside front of the window switches.
  7. Hey, no probs..come and visit us on the pom LOC forum some time...
  8. I have Lumar metallic tint on the sides and rear and haven't experienced any problems at all with either key entry, radio reception, mobile phone signal strength or satellite navigation, and I think if there was a problem we would of heard from many of the members on this forum that have the 'metallic' film.
  9. How do you induce out of specification negative camber except by using lowering springs or coilovers? The 2nd Generation IS doesn't have camber or castor adjustment, just Toe adjustment front and rear. My IS250 had the 'centre line' or 'loose' steering feel from new so I took it for a full four wheel geometry check. I obtained the Lexus geometry settings from the local dealership for comparison purposes and we found that the Lexus settings for the 2nd generation IS are flawed in the same way as they were on the IS300. The settings not only cause the steering issues but can lead to extreme localized wear on the very inner edge of the front tires. Unfortunately the fix for the IS300 cannot be used on the IS250/350 as there is no camber adjustment. The guy that researched and published the fix for the IS300/200 (and has been proven correct over many hundreds of resets) carried out the check on my IS250. He reset the toe on front and rear and the car was transformed. The car immediately felt very planted with no vagueness in the steering throughout the speed range or any feeling of adverse tracking on poor surfaces. We also measured the tread depth with a micrometer gauge and monitored it at 2000 miles intervals...the car has completed over 10,000 miles now and has absolutely even tyre wear. Tony Bones (also known as 'The Doctor') on the LOC UK Forums has his own website http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk with a general geometry and suspension forum (not just LExus) , alternatively go to LOC UK and search for member 'wheels-inmotion.co.uk' and send him a pm for the new settings and explanation.
  10. The TSB only applies to the IS 350, not the IS 250. Are the brake pads different for each vehicle? This one refers to the IS350 and the GS. I don't know if there's one for the IS250. The latest revision includes the IS250 on the TSIB updated April 27th 2007 TSIB.pdf
  11. Are the scratches that deep to need a repaint? The clear coat on the IS is really soft and scratches very easily, but most will probably polish out with a swirl buster polish like the one marketed by Sonus. You'll need a polisher though..Porter Cable or better...have a look at the Autopia site.
  12. Yep, that's the one I was thinking of....have the same opinion on the price too
  13. Lexus have a sunglasses or general storage compartment replacement part. It's more useful in the European model which has the intruder detection unit in the compartment that has the sunglasses fitment in the US model.
  14. Mercedes must have done the same...this car was apparently eight years in development, which would have started at about the time of unveiling the first generation IS...what car do you think they got their (perhaps not so original) design concept from? :D Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Porsche employee giving the Porsche factory tour in 1999 told us that Porsche brought the Japanese to show Porsche how to build a luxury car profitably, not the other way around. I am not saying it was all a one-way exchange, just that from an ownership seat time POV, I don't see evidence of Lexus copying Porsche or MB. Well I certainly suspect that this recently launched small Mercedes SL took a lot of its design from the IS300...don't you think so?

  16. Mohand...you're entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion the IS250 is a better vehicle than the equivalent BMW, and there's nothing else from Europe in the same group that comes anywhere near it for all round performance, looks, price, and on reliability it just leaves most of them way behind. I changed from a BMW330 Ci, for all those reasons and the additional bonus is that it's exclusive as most people are like you and believe the hype so every other vehicle you see on the roads in Europe is a BMW. Oh....and before you make any more ill informed sweeping statements it would be good to get at least the basics right..I'm from Europe, therefore I'm a EUROPEAN <_< Think it's the roadkill you get around the Galleria in Houston :whistles:
  17. Thanks, and yes they are the Volks SF Winning from Ray's Wheels in Japan. The finish is gunmetal with polished rims. Fronts are 19" x 8.5" with +38mm offset Rears are 19" x 9.5" with +42mm offset Rubber is Toyo Proxes T1-R's 225 35 19 front & 275 30 19 rear, but the fronts are under tired and need to be at least 235 35 19...may need a heat gun on the inner arch liner to give the clearance with the 235's though because it looks as if they will rub slightly on full lock. Since the pics were taken I've fitted a Tanabe Medallion Touring 304 stainless steel cat-back system and together with the JoeZ intake and Blitz drop-in filter it seems to have gained a few bhp, but I'd hesitate to endorse the major horsepower gains claimed by either of the manufacturers :whistles:
  18. I wanted a more sports look for my 250 luxury, so fitted the sports pedal set, lowered it with 19" rims and covered the wood with carbon fibre...goes well with the black leather and Smoky Granite Mica.
  19. I have the American Spec Eibach Pro Set on my IS250 RWD and 19" rims with 225 35 19 front and 275 30 19 rears. No rubbing at all and here she is:-
  20. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THESE? PICTURE NEVER LOADS. Guide here. Tells you all you need to know http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...?showtopic=5602
  21. Here's mine. Not tinted yet but have the front lip and boot spoiler. Will probably tint the rears, but not too much. Wheels are Volks SF Winning from Rays Wheels, 19" Gunmetal three piece forged with polished rims.
  22. They're just reflectors that are required by European law. IMHO I prefer the American clean look. ;)
  23. We checked the full geometry in the UK and obtained the Lexus specs and they've repeated the same mistake they had on the Is300 which causes wear on the very inner edge. I've seen them down to the wire right on the inner edge but without taking the wheel off or checking the tyres on full steering lock you wouldn't notice. Check out this site and post or pm Tony Bones 'The Doctor' http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/
  24. 1)The non-Mark Levinson doesn't play DVDs. 2) Yes, it's in the menu system settings (I forgot what it's called, but it's obviously related.) 3) None of the doors unlock when "approached"; they unlock when you touch the back of the handle. No, I haven't done that; don't want the carjacker's door to open - just mine. But, I did change the way they unlock upon exiting the car. Tip: when it says to hold a button for "5 seconds", 4.9 or 5.1 is not good enough. If you have the ML and it still isn't playing, make sure you have the parking brake on as it will not display unless you do. :)
  25. The Mark Levinson system, the voice activated Satnav & Bluetooth phone, the heated & vented memory seats, the reversing camera, the all so smooth auto box, the adaptive HID headlights i.e. the toys :)
