  1. Thanks all. You gave me more info than the dealer did..... It happens going up the hill to our home, when I put it into sequential third gear. But it also happens sometimes after a trip from Los Angeles back to our home in Claremont.
  2. I haven't read all the responses to this post yet, but just wanted to say that I tried using the paddle shifters for a while. I find it's easier to just use the automatic and put your foot into the accelerator. How is that SMG transmission as far as reliability goes? Man, I'd hate to see what a replacement costs... I haven't really used it at all. Our car only has a couple hundred miles on it though. Never really heard any problems with them, they do come out with upgrades now and again. All you have to do is go to BMW and they re-flash the trans ecu with the new program. The Farrari F1 is the most advanced auto-stick on the planet, they say BMW is like the second. My husband had the biggest problem with our M3 SMG. He couldn't figure out how to drive it. I, however, had no problems with it. It could be a little quirky, but it was cool.
  3. I have an IS250, with 18,000 miles on it. It has the smell of eggs coming from the car. I've taken it to the dealer, and I think even mentioned it in this Web site before, when the car was still new. I was told it should wear off, that it's just a new-car smell. Well, after 18,000 miles, shouldn't the smell be gone? Lexus can't diagnose it until they actually smell it, and it, of course, won't do it when I'm at the dealer......
  4. I had somebody come out to my home several times to tint my car windows. However, he no longer does home-visits. He now has his own shop. Yes, don't roll down the windows for a few days. I've not heard of the bubbling.
  5. Personally, I like the stock system in my 250. I like it better than my BMW 325.
  6. I've complained about numerous things, to which the dealership can never find it when I take my car in. Oh, the last one, I told them when I had recirc on, I could still smell exhaust coming in the car. The service tech told them to check the a/c, that exhaust from my car was coming in. Oy. I guess I should've explained myself better. Anyways, I had complained about the sound of rocks hitting the windshield, whatever. They say they'd have to take the whole dash apart to find it. I told them forget it. I just live with the sound. Sorry, not much help!
  7. I have 17,000 miles on my car, and I've only had it 9 months. I do what Lexus suggests..........
  8. I have an IS250. My average mpg is about 26.8. When I decided to try and drive it slow for one tank, I got 32 mpg on that tank. But I couldn't stay at 60.........I had to drive!!!! lol. I drive from Claremont to Riverside every day 30 miles one-way, and always have traffic. I thought I was getting bad gas mileage with the 26.8 average I'm at right now.........
  9. I live in Southern California. Claremont, to be exact. I work in Riverside. I am a court reporter. I have had my Lexus IS250 since August '05. My husband drives an E-55 AMG, Mercedes. We also have a third car, if you can tell by my id name........
  10. I know a regular bra can scratch a car, Toby. Thus the reason to keep the car clean............. Sorry about your fender.
  11. I have been telling EVERYONE that my car is a rock magnet. The first week I had it, got a rock in the windshield that I had to take to get fixed because, of course, the car was too new for a new windshield. Last week I had a rock hit my SIDE window and scratch it. That won't come out. I have chips on the front as well. Anyway, I'm not really happy that Lexus decided not to make a regular bra for this car. I would've bought it instantly. It just seems that $650 is a heck of a lot of money to spend........
  12. I have come to actually enjoy my car. It just took me so long to get used to it after coming out of my BMW 325i. I now have owned my is250 since August and have 11,000 miles on it. Yes, I'm a mileage hog. Anyways, anyone notice a popping noise coming out of their dash? It can be so loud that I think a rock is hitting my windshield. I've asked my tech about it, and don't really want to attempt to get into the dash for fear of it not getting put back together correctly........
  13. Huh what? Huy, as in, what are you talking about? Perhaps some more details as to hos this handle caused accident or injury. It hasn't caused injury. I'm worried about in the future, if I'm in a car accident, and somebody is holding onto it, and it doesn't hold then........it's been fixed as of today.
  14. I have an IS250, and the brake dust is acceptable. I'm used to BMW as well, I guess. However, the rattles are driving me nuts in this car. I've got one in the seatbelt area on the passenger side. And, yes, the rearview mirror vibrates when I play my music too loud. But so far, the engine is holding up great (10,000 miles almost already). Lexus has been great as far as service. One question: should the overhead hand-holder thing have come off when my husband was pulling on it?? He was just moving around in the car, using it to adjust, and it half came out of the roof of the car! Lexus has the part on order, but it seems to be a safety issue to me. Should I be concerned? Now I have to take it in as well due to the recall of the accelerator pedal......... LOL! im pretty sure that should not have come off. it was not properly installed im guessing. Are you talking about the handle above every window?i wouldnt say its a safety condition since those things are not that heavy. lol im pretty sure it wont fall down on itself and land on your head and cause you to faint, thus resulting in loss of control of the car etc. lol "Safety issue," as in my husband was using the handle in his Mercedes Benz when I crashed into someone at 40 mph, and it held. Yes, the handle above each door is what I'm talking about.
