  1. Can never go wrong with black Other than maintaining it
  2. a G35/350Z coupe stickshift is about 298HP. Im sure they can beat GS300/400/430. P.S. Just in case anyone points out "well those are stickshift cars", well, guess what, sport cars were ment to be stickshift.
  3. a retired cop street racing? cool :) I do agree on the street racing thing though. Its mostly careless driving at intersections and (not to be sexiest) female drivers. Street racers have some great driving abilities, and generally they are more focused on the roads then anyone else. I know get speeding tickets for this. but i drive WORSE when im going lets say 65MPH then i am 80MPH.
  4. The posts above mine are good information so im not even going to go into the labor. I will tell you my point of view of things. In my 05 Lexus ES, i did a 5% limo tint back two windows and rear window. I left the front windows normal as i was scared to tint them (illegal any California to tint front windows). The job looked unfinished since my car was black, has black interior, and has only half the car tinted. Eventually i tinted the front windows 35% and it improved the looks by far :D . 35% tint u can still slightly see through them (unless if u are starting at the driver through an angle) and they look limo tint all around at night time. I got my windows tinted for the price of 200 dollars total. It took the guy about 3.5 hours and allowed me to watch the tinting process. My back window had to get two piece tint since since the defroster marks (you know those block holes) make the tint bubble up faster over-time. They usally put a stronger film on that portion. You have a 1998 Lexus from wat it says in your profile. Comparing it to my 2000 lexus (same body style as yours) the tinting should cost you from $125-$220 as long as u dont get it from the dealerships. My favoirte tint shade is 14% all around (after i saw it on my friends audi) as they look very dark and u dont lose your vision through the windows to 5% tint. P.S. i know you probably know this but i was amazed how some people dont know how the tinting shade is factored. Just in case if any body doesnt know this. 50% tint = 50 percent light is passing through the tint 25% tint = 25 percent light is passing the tint (it is darker) Conclusion: The lower the percentile, the darker the tint is. I believe 5% is the lowest tint which is called "limo tint"
  5. turning the VDIM system is a like video game cheat code. its almost, funny.
  6. The name brand is E90 (the new 3series sedan) and the coupe/convertiable is going to be named E91/E92 i believe. Also (not offical) that the BMW 325/330 will be dropped and replaced to 328/335. The 335 is expected to be at 300+ hp like the IS. Unfornately, lets just say Lexus IS350 was 306 HP and the BMW 335 HP was at 306, the three series will have the faster record. But yea so far i have heard about the Lexus IS460 and even a IS500; lexus has big plans for the IS!
  7. 2 good things : 1. its a lexus 2. its reliable 2bad things: 1. VERY HIGH insurance. KBB rated IS300 #1 on insurance rip off rates. 2. IS350 really makes the old ones look outdated.
  8. Actually im pretty confident it is comming out now. Even the dealers are somewat mentioning it. They want to take BMW head on. BMW M3 is comming out in 1.5-2years with a V8 400hp+ . Expect a powerful model of the IS around the time. I believe the new Lexus SC are going to be pretty quick too on the road. Lexus has just changed their marketing focus (orginally it was cars designed for the baby boomer generation) so all the new cars like the ES/LS will all have a different style of power, comfort, luxury, etc compared to the current ones.
  9. Although lexus perfers luxury over sports, lexus is very SMOOTH car (to me this is not a good thing). Even with my ES330 which is even smoother, if lets see im going 100mph, it still feels like 60mph. I learned the hard way with a ticket at 99 and traffic school :) I have driven the IS350, its a well-made car. It still has the smoothness part of it which i hate as compared to BMW 330 road feel. However, driving at high speeds is fun with the car. If you are not going to drive lets just say past 65MPH , go for the IS250, it deliveries enough power, AWD is a option (i heard AWD and manual dont come together, not sure about this myself) and you can out turn a IS350!.
  10. Actually for lexus ES models, it may say 19,000 value , but dealers generally can go down as 14-15k easily.
  11. I dont post much but wow... a True drama forum!
  12. i also went the lexus fremont dealer. they told me too wait 8more months b4 they can start discounting 2k+ since we have bought 4 lexus from them already,
  13. well if you go bimmer or lexus, ill see you on either the lexus forums or bimmer forums
  14. i go on BMW forums too www.bimmerfest.com/forums and didnt see this type of forum but heres my input. If u want power go for IS350, if u want good ride feel (aka not smooth but a racin type of feel) go for the bimmer. If u got patience, wait for the IS460 (which would drop the prices on the IS350 a little bit due to high demand atm) and the BMW 335CI (possiable turbo and SMG TRANSMISSION!) both are fine cars... generally, lexus is a older group of people 40+ as the three series is well, below 40 group of people. so it comes down your preference really. For me, id pick the IS over the 325, however i would go for the bmw 330i over the is350, just my preference=) another note , lexus navi > bmw i-drive
  15. lol my lexus es330 is suppose to give me "21MPG" city and "28MPG" in highway.... in reality, i get 16.5 in city, 22 in Highway....i guess they really did design this car for 55year olds=p im assuming IS also would give lower gas mileage as well. When i drove it, the lag in shifting still exists (hence i think it affects the gas milage)
  16. I would think Xenon would be standard. I know the lexus dealership in the Bay Areas (Pleasant, Fremont, Stevens Creek) all the IS i saw had the xenon adaptive lights.
  17. Kind of a old topic but im still going to reply to it, The lexus gS with the 22 inch rim looks great, as a 20year old college student i love wat u have done to it. The reason why i state my age is because im sure a person from 20-29 year point of view would be different than a person which most lexus owners are 40+. If i wanted to put rims in my ES330 it would be in the 20's also. Lowering your GS looks nice but be careful!!! i use to drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT lowered and man, curbs seem scarier than ever...
  18. Is the ISbody style different in the all wheel drive as to the rear wheel drive? And is it alot smaller than the ES330? ← Yes the IS350 is significantly notable to be shorter in the backseats but its ok, a loaded IS350 vs fully loaded ES330 (which i have), the IS350 wins when it comes to sitting on the passenger/driver side.
  19. Lexus IS350 no doubt is a great car but ARRGGGG the paddle shifters are lame. Should have made manual IS350 instead of the shifters or at least come up with something like the SMG tranny from BMW=p as far as the BMW vs Lexus goes, id wait for the BMW 335CI (Option turbo perhaps!) and the new two door lexus IS (concept models should be comming in the detriot show) comming out then make your decision if u are going to buy one of these cars (reason why im holding off til September). And a note to lexus, NO, it is not a comparison to M3 =(
  20. I dont post often but i do read this forum and the BMW forums often. I currently own a 2005 ES330 also fully loaded and i saw few of you post the hestiation problem. Since i am 20, i generally accerlate harder than normal (according to my dealer) but i asked if they was a way to minimize the transmission lag. The lexus dealers did a transmission software update and i noticed a much less of a delay. However, in turns, if you have the stability control option, you are still going to get the same hestiation problem in non-straightways. So go to your dealer and ask for the update! P.S. i think you made a wonderful choice on your car. I like it, i bought mine in black/black, did a few minor mods to it (tint window all around) and considering to change the rims if i do not go through with buying the LExus IS350 or BMW 335 )hopfully comming out). I have 16,000 miles on it in 6months only thing i wish is that the voice navigation was better. I ask for "Gas station" and its sending me to some place in oregon=p
  21. actually alot of people have tested the IS350 and the 330 and the way i have seen it , its almost a tie.. some say lexus has more power so they bought it others say bmw has more better driving dynamics...... anyways www.caranddriver.com rated bmw #1... but did said lexus did a major improvement on the IS..... as for the rest of you .. u might want to hold on to the dicision on a new car cause rumors have it that a BMW 335i (turbo optional) is commmiong out end of summer of 06 which i am not surpised...... P.S. i try not to be biased... i have owned both BMW and Lexus....both very good grands...
  22. adding to this... i have a 2005 Lexus Es330.. and i did complain to the dealer about the tranny jerk... They updated a new software to the computer and said it will reduce the jerk by alot (not completely thou). My tranny lags for 1second then it takes off with a nasty jerk so im hoping (im going to drive it tommorow) that it reduced the lag from gas pedal to half a second and reduced the jerk
  23. So i went to the lexus dealership and i am told that there is no stickshift for this model?! Do you know if they are going to make it in the second batch? Otherwise it looks like i need to buy a slightly used E46 M3
